The area of physical therapy rehabilitation always aims to improve the quality of life of patients, but the process of physical therapy treatment can be considered tedious and tiring. This problem, the Serious Games, shows how the aid tool in the patient recovery process is applied to physical therapists, who use virtual reality as a motivating element in the patient recovery process. This paper presents the design and evaluation process of a serious game aimed at motor rehabilitation or which has been evaluated by professionals and patients and shows relevant results in tests of ease of learning, efficiency, level of inconsistencies, user satisfaction and ease of memorization. through the use of the System Usability Scale (SUS). The Serious Examination Utility - Questionnaire (SEU-Q) instrument was also used to assess the perception of utility of the Serious Game, or which helped to identify important aspects related to the benefits of its use.

Games not only provide entertainment and fun but can also play a significant role in assimilating and reinforcing specific knowledge. This leads us to the category of serious games, which are designed to aid in the consolidation of content relevant to society. Basic Life Support is a protocol aimed at reversing Cardiopulmonary Arrest, acquired through specialized training. However, without regular proper practice, this knowledge can fade. Faced with this issue, the current software prototype uses game mechanics to propose a potential solution to this gap in human memory: the lack of consistent practice. Through a systematic mapping, the existence of a lacking market (and a scientific subfield) that demands more accessible solutions was identified, targeting Nursing students, first responders, and other healthcare professionals, all seeking to maintain this knowledge. This is especially crucial in places like the Brazilian territory and developing countries, where access to advanced and costly technologies is limited. The prototype was developed following the guidelines established by the Health Games research group at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. Thus, a game design document was elaborated, containing flowcharts, diagrams, and other elements that allowed the realization of this project, resulting in the creation of a digital serious game. The chosen game engine was Ren’Py, due to its emphasis on narratives, use of the Python programming language, and its open-source nature with a low implementation cost. Ultimately, this work served as an idea laboratory, enabling various experiences. This included the publication of three scientific papers and interaction with research groups from different regions of Brazil. It also resulted in new interpersonal, professional, and aca demic connections, providing learning across various dimensions of human understanding, especially on a personal and evolutionary level.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-09-08) CHAVES, Rafael Oliveira; FAVERO, Eloi Luiz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1497269209026542
Software process modeling (SPM) is an important area of software engineering because it provides a basis for managing, automating, and supporting software process improvement (SPI). Teaching SPM is a challenging task, mainly because it lays great emphasis on theory and offers few practical exercises. Furthermore, as yet few teaching approaches have aimed at teaching SPM by introducing innovative features, such as games. The use of games has mainly been focused on other areas of software engineering, for example software project management. In an attempt to fill this gap, this paper describes a formal experiment carried out to assess the learning effectiveness of a serious game (DesigMPS), designed to support the teaching of SPM, and to compare game-based learning with a project-based learning method. In the DesigMPS game, the student models a software process from an SPI perspective, based on the Brazilian SPI model (MPS.BR). Also features of the game were analyzed as: appropriateness in terms of content relevance, sufficiency, degree of difficulty, sequence, teaching method; engagement; strengths and weakness. The results indicate that playing the game can have a positive learning effectiveness (statistically significant difference) on the cognitive levels of understanding and applying, according to the revised version of Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives, despite some weaknesses as: the lack of “help” on the use of the game and the lack of clearer instructional feedback with explanations regarding the causes of errors. Also, there is positive learning effectiveness (statistically significant difference) when compared to the PBL on the applying level, but no significant difference on the understanding level. Most students considered that the game is engaging and relevant concerning the content of Software Quality course. Based on the results the game could be an option to teach SPM.

L'Arrivée: jogo sério para potencializar o ensino do francês
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-09-01) CAVALCANTE, Lorena Laís Mendes; NASCIMENTO, Márcio Lima do; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6668311810812135
This research focuses on the training of French teachers at the Universidade Federal do Pará, especially regarding their acquisition of speaking skills. To master the learning process of a foreign language means getting involved with it, and even more so when we talk about the training of the teachers of a foreign language. When we discuss teaching and learning, we look to strategies and pedagogical resources that might contribute to the acquisition of a skill set that is essential for a French teacher, focusing on their speaking competency. When we look for ways of stimulating the learning and development of this competency, we defined the objective of this research as follows: to develop a serious board game focused on the development of the speaking competency of undergraduate French teachers from the Universidade Federal do Pará. To reach that goal, we established specific objectives that focused on investigating the difficulties faced by these undergraduate teachers in the process of acquiring speaking competency, on the elaboration of tasks and challenges for the game, and on testing and validating the game with the undergraduate students. In this context, we relied on authors whose work supports the use of gamification as a learning tool, such as Schell (2008), Huizinga (2000), as well as authors who discuss the teaching/learning process of French such as Mattar (2009), Germain (1993), among others. We conclude this research by presenting the analysis of the data collected during tests of our educational product with the participants of the research.
