In order to promote the debate on a subject so relevant to the understanding of construction of the child subject and his childhood in Bethlehem we brought as general objective: To analyze the situations of violence against children in Belém do Pará at the beginning of the 20th century and its relation with the social, educational and cultural context of the period investigated. As for the specific objectives we have: (1) To identify the typology of violence against the child that was registered more frequently in the News of the Journal; (2) To reveal the discourses that are related to violence and to the education of the infancy in the investigated sources; (3) Elucidate how the culture of violence perpetrated against the child affected age, gender, and socioeconomic status; (4) Understand that discourses on violence against children and early childhood education related to the social, political, economic, cultural and educational context of the time. This documentary research has the corpus constituted by specific subjects of the phenomenon of violence against the child, in the Folha do Norte Journal, in the first decade of the twentieth century. And that these senses are representative of the nationalist, hygienist and progress ideal that defended themselves at the time.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Enfermeiras desafiando a violência no âmbito de atuação da estratégia de saúde da família(Programa de Pós Graduação em Enfermagem, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, 2013-12) POLARO, Sandra Helena Isse; GONÇALVES, Lucia Hisako Takase; ALVAREZ, Angela MariaThis study aimed to describe and analyze how violence affects the working process of nurses in the Family Health Program. The organizations of these movements and their construction in associations and entities promoted more rights and public policies of social participation for the disabled population. Based on the contributions of feminists, new categories associated with disability began to be discussed, such as gender, class and race, generating an intersectional perspective. In this sense, based on the serious problem of violence against women with disabilities, the research sought to understand how the Association of People with Disabilities from Pará (APPD) and the Association of Parents and Friends of the Handicapped (APAE) have acted in the fight against violence against women with disabilities. Therefore, the research was based on the inductive method from a qualitative perspective, based on bibliographic and documentary studies. The survey also included interviews with professionals from both associations to analyze the history and specificities of their actions with people with disabilities, especially women with disabilities who are victims of violence. Based on the Content Analysis, it was found, among other aspects, that both associations daily assist women with disabilities and their caregivers who have experienced various types of violence, despite this, it was understood that the theme of violence against women with disabilities is not part of a structured front in associations for the defense of people with disabilities in the state of Pará.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Entre a violência e a mídia: percepções dos policiais sobre si(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-03-30) NERES, Priscila de Sousa; COSTA, Alda Cristina Silva daThis paper aims to analyze the relationship between violence, the police and the media from the perspective of police officers, that is, how police officers perceive their self construction and the construction of their performance in the media chanels of the state of Pará. We note that military police officers are the mediators between violence, media and society. They are a main source of information, those who first come to an occurrence, and represent the voice that speaks for the state, the victim and the suspect at the same time. Together, violence, the police, and the media establish a communicative relationship marked by social interactions. In this sense, this paper has as its backbone the theoretical perspectives of symbolic interactionism, which assumes that one's actions are based on the meanings the world offers them; meanings are acquired from social interaction. The qualitative research method was used considering the subjective character of investigations, as well as narrative analysis, to understand the meanings that officers build of themselves and their daily lives. For data collection, we conducted 20 semi-structured interviews with military police officers who hold different positions in the operations department of the Military Police of the state of Pará, in the ostensive policing of the 20th Military Police Battalion, located in the neighborhood of Guamá, in Belém. We found that military police officers perceive the news as being disproportionate, considering the media's privilege to report only the negative aspects of officers’ activities and actions, most frequently appealing to exaggeration and sensationalism in search of audience. They also perceive the news about themselves as exhaustive, generalized and disregarding of their individuality. That is, it dissociates the individual from the professional. For police officers, the excess or systematic repetition of narratives of violence in Pará’s media is harmful because, as they explain, there is a desire for greater police apparatus, more demands, and for the police to take more space in the media’s narratives.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Entre cabeças, olhos e boca: transitanto por Moqueca de maridos e História do olho(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-12-22) FERNANDEZ, Rafaella Dias; LEAL, Izabela Guimarães Guerra; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2507019514021007This thesis begins with a reflection on the reading of the myth of creation and the destruction of the world for the Tupinambá people. From this narrative, a fundamental element emerges for this people: the land without evil. After a reflection on the importance of this land to the Tupinambá, it is observed that revenge and anthropophagy are vectors of strength and help to build the memory of this indigenous people. These two components, so primordial to the Tupinambá, also emerge as essential elements to understand the narratives present in anthropologist Betty Mindlin's book, Barbecued Husbands – and other stories from the amazon. Written by the anthropologist and indigenous narrators of six ethnic groups: Makurap, Tupari, Wajuru, Djeoromitxí, Arikapú and Aruá. It is worth pointing that the six indigenous peoples who build the records of the myths in the book derive from the Tupi trunk, just like Tupinambá’s. After the reading, there was a constant presence of revenge, murders, torture, eroticism and anthropophagy. Hence, it is proposed to analyze the symbolic meaning of each vector present in the indigenous narratives and its probable correlation with the novel Story of the Eye, by Georges Bataille. These two readings, far from being conflicting, catch the intrinsic connection between two fields considered distinct: indigenous myths and Western literature. After an investigative analysis, it was found that there are points where both seem to resonate one another. Thus, in what sense is it possible to think of convergences between myths and the bataillian novel? What is the symbolic meaning of violence, eroticism and anthropophagy in both? Thus, the central objective of this thesis is to propose a comparative analysis between the works and problematize the metaphorical sense of eroticism, anthropophagy and violence in each of the works. The convergence between French literature and indigenous erotic myths was thought by Eliane Robert Moraes, a scholar of eroticism in Brazil. The author places a brief correspondence between the two by stating that the indigenous imaginary seems quite familiar to those who know modern erotic literature. To accomplish this work, we are based mainly on the studies of Georges Bataille, Eroticism (2013) and Literature and evil (2015), by Georges Didi-Huberman, La Ressemblance Informe ou le Gai Savoir Visual selon Georges Bataille (2015), and the anthropologist Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, A inconstância da alma selvagem (2016). Thereby, in order to give breath to an unprecedented work of comparison between both, we aim to propose thematic resonances and highlight the differences in the two readings.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O Grito dos silenciados contra a devastação neoliberal na BR-163(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020) ARAÚJO, Roseane de Seixas Brito; CASTRO, Edna Maria Ramos deThe research aims to analyze the current capitalist accumulation's phase from the intensification of social conflicts in Itaituba, in the Brazilian Amazon, due to the socio economic impact generated by neoliberalism. The municipality's strategic location on the Santarém-Cuiabá highway (BR-163), into the banks of the Tapajós River, in western Pará, it has extraordinary mining reserves it owns, that long has been attracting transnational corporationsinterestslinked to agribusiness, mineral exploring, and construction of large infrastructure work. During the analysis period, from 2007 to 2017, there was a vertiginous growth in the activities linked to these interests, wherein the large public and private investments on the banks of the highway that has shown the neoliberal capitalism's dynamism in recent decades, marked by the association of large capitals around the world, denationalization of state public assets, and economy's financialization. Mainly, are targeted countries and regions that, like Brazil and the Amazon, have a rich natural heritage, weak environmental management, flexible rules and legislation, in a historical context aggravated by fragile democracy and disrespect for social and ethnic rights. Moreover, the highway is a part of a major axis of agricultural production to circulate commodities, which led to the construction of large port structures, in a multimodal transport logistics to enable the shipment of production to world markets. More, the agricultural and mineral neo-extractivism practiced without limits in the region also requires large infrastructures for energy production, which implies the construction of hydroelectric plants. Thus, if the Tapajós's Hydroelectric Complex mega-project is carried out by the federal government, the lives and work of thousands of people will be rendered unfeasible, and the surrounding nature will be destroyed, causing immeasurable proportions of socio- environmental damages. These are the priorities of the neoliberal agenda that reinforce Brazil's subordinate position in world geopolitics, as a producer of raw materials to serve the industrialized countries at the center of capitalism. International laws and agreements signed by the country have been systematically violated to favor the accumulation of the region's wealth. In this sense, the Brazilian State acts as a participant in the power games controlled by the dominant countries worldwide, leading the region to disastrous impasses. Such dynamism overlaps and enhances structural and historical problems, such as the grabbing of public lands, lack of environmental control, violence, arbitrariness, and disinvestment in smallholder production, producing more and more concentration of wealth, which generates poverty and misery to life and work of most of the populations from the region. From this, the theoretical- methodological perspective of the research combines the propositions from Bourdieu (1983; 1989; 1997) and Foucault (1999), and has a qualitative perspective, by using semi-structured interviews with different social actors in the region, combining also a documentary analysis. The investigation purposes to identify as has been the organization of the counter-reactions to neocolonialism domination, under the leadership of indigenous people, traditional communities, social movements, and workers, together with the investigation that leads understanding the importance of 'the locality' to provoke displacement of power and impose the recognition of territorial and socio-cultural rights. The results point to the strengthening of resistance networks, which urgently demand the aggregation of other political forces from the counter-hegemonic field.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Imagens do espaço urbano e da violência em canções da música popular(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-12) CORNELSEN, Élcio LoureiroThis brief study aims to establish a relationship between urban space and violence, and the way in which this relationship is present in the lyrics of popular music songs. Lyrics from four songs were selected to compose the corpus of analysis: “De frente pro crime” (1975), by João Bosco, “Veraneio vascaína” (1986), by the group Capital Inicial, “Periferia é periferia” (1997), by the group Racionais MC's, and “Minha alma” (1999), by the group O Rappa. We start from the concept of violence, as proposed by Tânia Pellegrini as “the use of force to cause physical or psychological harm to another person”. The study showed that the main aspect in common between the four songs is the criticism of the potential for violence in the Brazilian urban space. Thus, such issues can also be understood in the key of the concept of resistance, as postulated by Michael Foucault and, respectively, Alfredo Bosi.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Intervenção urbanística e violência urbana em Belém: a experiência do Projeto Orla no Bairro do Jurunas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018) DAMASCENO, Kamilo Leonardo Pantoja; COUTO, Aiala Colares de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6262969004290520; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1828-7508; CRUZ, Sandra Helena Ribeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6427847823348453; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9360-5759This work was carried out in order to understand the issue of violence in the context of the urban intervention program in the neighborhood of Jurunas. Since 2006, the city of Belém has been holding the Orla Project, a constituent element of a broader macro-drilling intervention in the Estrada Nova water catchment area, called the Portal da Amazônia, reaching residents of five neighborhoods. From the thematic presented, our objectives were: To understand how the violence manifests itself in the area circumscribed to the Orla project; Identify the characteristics of this violence; To verify the perception of the residents regarding the effects of the project and the phenomenon of violence in the affected area; Identify how they deal with this phenomenon; and Verify how the Public Security agents act in the areas. In order to achieve our objectives, we use the method of historical-dialectical materialism as a perspective to carry out a critical analysis of the processes resulting from urban intervention and the intensification of violence in the area affected by the project, which can be made possible by the dialectical method; to apprehend the particularities capable of elucidating the phenomenon in its essence and totality. Thus, the qualitative research and its instruments were chosen as a methodological path in order to operationalize the method. The selection of bibliography and its study is cited; the documentary analysis of the Orla Project; the semi structured interview with 42 families living in the villages: Vila Passarinho, Vila Valério, Vila Santos, Vila Gigi and Vila Maria Izabel, affected by the Orla project. The research reveals that for the residents, urban violence is materialized by the actions of crimes, such as robberies, drug trafficking and the common robberies that take place in Orla. It has also been shown that in the last years the residents face the new phenomenon of violence produced by "militia" organizations. It is evident that the problems generated by urban infrastructure actions are perceived as natural and unrelated to the issue of violence experienced in everyday life. In the case in analysis, it is verified that the residents do not articulate the issue of violence, its increase and diversification to the absence of public policies in the neighborhood of Jurunas. Therefore, the issue of urban violence in the neighborhood of Jurunas leads us to predict that in the case of the Orla Project urban violence and the experience of the same by residents of the areas circumscribed to the project has been naturalized, given the dominance of daily life by criminal organizations . In addition, the state is seen as absent in this region from the failure to implement public policies, which also means a form of violence which we call "invisible violence," and this omission leaves those who in fact need state action every time more vulnerable and prone to crime.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O potencial da cultura material na educação museal sobre formas de violência na Amazônia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-07-04) OLIVEIRA, Nadison Gomes de; ALMEIDA, Marcia Bezerra de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1085631337892211The main objective of this work is to analyze and reflect on museum education possibilities through material culture on forms of violence for institutions in the Amazon region. In order to understand ways in which material culture can be used in Museum and/or Heritage Education activities aimed at social and political problems involving different forms of violence in the region, mainly against groups considered socially minority, involving ethnic-racial issues, of gender and sexualities. As goals to achieve this objective, I propose to understand the importance of material culture and the some possibilities in which they can become agents in educational practices in museums; map understandings of museums, museum education and violence in museums in the Amazon region, through reports by students of the Museology course at the Federal University of Pará and trained museologists who work or have worked in institutions in the region; and compare the reported practices with the notions of education present in heritage and museum charters, and also with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to understand whether these described actions, located in the Amazon region, are consistent with the guidelines aimed at maintaining of practices for the development of democracy and peace. With this, reflections on how memory and power are intrinsic elements of museums, proposals to educate about violence in a sensitive and engaged way through things and the possibility of thinking about an Amazonian Museology and a regional museum education arise.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Representações de docentes sobre violência nas escolas: um estudo em uma escola ribeirinha(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-06) LOBATO, Vívian da SilvaThis research was guided by the objective of analyzing the conceptions of teachers about violence in school context. Data collection was performed in a riverine and quilombo School. A literature review was performed, followed by interviews with six (6) teachers in a State of Elementary School and Middle of the Municipality of Abaetetuba, State of Para. The interviewed teachers working in High School School André Santos. In order to preserve anonymity, attributed to fictitious names in the presentation and discussion of results. it was decided to group the data into categories of meaning, the end were listed nine (9) categories, namely: What teachers talk about violence, forms of violence manifest in school, violence considered the most serious, such as violence is crafted in the classroom, as teachers often act in the face of violence, training on school violence, violence in the teacher-student relationship, the infrastructure of the school X violence, consequences of violence for school. The theoretical framework used sat in the studies of the following researchers: Franco (2004), Charlot (2002), Fante (2005), Placco (2005), Kodato (2010) and Peter-Silva (2014). It was found the lack of teacher training to deal with violence, the strategic vacuum form working with this problem.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Violência, censura e loucura: a semente de Gianfracesco Guarnieri(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-12) SARMENTO-PANTOJA, Carlos Augusto NascimentoItem Acesso aberto (Open Access) Violências e narrativas: trajetórias de mulheres que romperam com o relacionamento íntimo violento(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2024-04-29) SILVA, Elcione da Silva e; GONÇALVES, Telma Amaral; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7335593537033167The issue of violence against women is a reality in various life stories, leaving deep marks on the subjectivities and memories of the victims. This study sheds light on the scientific public space on a problem traditionally associated with the realms of romantic relationships and consequently considered of a private nature. This dissertation investigates the trajectory of six women who have broken free from violent intimate relationships, whether with a boyfriend or husband, exploring their experiences during and after the end of these relationships. The research is based on a qualitative approach, using the "Life Narratives" method (Bertaux, 2010), with the use of narrative interviews to access their stories. The aim was to understand the subjective meanings attributed to these experiences, highlighting the attempts at resignification and resistance by the participants, aiming at possible ruptures with the cycle of violence. The results reveal rich and complex narratives, evidencing the challenges faced during the violent relationship, the difficulties encountered when trying to break free, and the processes of personal and social reconstruction after the breakup. We identify how social discourses about love shape the subjectivity of women in abusive relationships, emphasizing the idealization of love and expectations surrounding relationships, and how women tend to value positive characteristics of partners, even in the face of abusive behavior, as violence manifests culturally ingrained. The various types of social and institutional support available to women in situations of violence are also discussed, as well as the marks and psychological and social impacts of these experiences. We identify the resistance strategies adopted by women experiencing domestic violence to resist and eventually break free from abusive relationships. Experiences of violence vary in their manifestation, context, and specific circumstances, but share lasting negative effects for both victims and society as a whole. However, the survival stories of these women reveal a desire to rebuild their lives, demonstrating a movement towards resilience, autonomy, and resignification, indicating a shift in power relations, as discussed in feminist studies on gender violence.
