Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise de polimorfismo na região promotora do gene da Interleucina 18 (-137 G/C e -607 C/A) em pacientes portadores do vírus da hepatite C de Belém, Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-03-23) SANTOS, Kemper Nunes dos; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Since its discovery in 1989, the hepatitis C virus (HCV) has been recognized as a major cause of chronic liver disease worldwide. Considered a public health problem worldwide involving between 170 to 350 million people infected. Host genetic factors have been implicated in the persistence of HCV infection. Studies suggest that two single nucleotide polymorphisms at position -607 C/A (rs1946518) and -137 G/C (rs187238) in the region of the gene IL-18 and have been found associated with the transcriptional promoter activity of IL -18, and potentially of IFN-γ, being associated with delayed viral clearance and persistence of the disease. We conducted a cross-sectional analytical study of the city of Belém-PA in 152 blood samples from patients infected with HCV and 188 uninfected controls. The samples were subjected to RT-PCR (Reverse Transcriptase - PCR) for detection of viral RNA and, subsequently, the PCR-RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) to evaluate the polymorphism in the promoter region of IL-18 gene at positions -137 G/C and -607 C/A. The results showed no significant difference for IL-18 polymorphisms between patients and control group. But showed a significant difference for homozygous genotypes G/G (39.1%) at position -137 (OR = 3.00, CI [95%] = 1.24 – 7.22, p = 0.02), and A/A (21.7 %), position -607 (OR = 3.62, CI [95%] = 1.25 – 10.45, p = 0.03) among women than men (22.6% and 7.6%). The results showed evidence that among women, the presence of the polymorphism homozygous A/A (-607) acts as a protective factor against HCV infection, genotype as the A/A (-607) have been linked in some studies with liver disease and mild viral clearance.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aspectos clínicos e epidemiológicos da infecção pelo HTLV em usuários do Centro de Testagem e Aconselhamento do município de Santarém- Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014) BARBOSA, Richelma de Fátima Miranda; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aspectos epidemiológicos da infecção pelo vírus da hepatite C em populações ribeirinhas do estado do Pará, na Amazônia brasileira(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-09-24) FECURY, Amanda Alves; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769The hepatitis C virus (HCV) has large number of infected and may cause hepatocellular carcinoma. Its genetic material RNA presents six different genotypes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) and subtypes, related by disease prognosis and response to treatment. The main route of transmission of HCV is the parenteral route, but the vertical and intrafamily transmission and is also reported. Drug use and needlestick share were characterized as risk factors for acquisition of infection and pathways are described and confirmed by literature. Less is known about viral transmission in remote or hard to reach communities such as riverside communities. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of viral infection, evaluate the serological profile and circulating genotype HCV, and trace the epidemiological characteristics, describing the main risk factors for acquisition of HCV infection that different riverside communities living in the State of Pará, in the Eastern Amazon, are exposed. The respondents answered a questionnaire to obtain epidemiologic information and blood samples were collected to carry out the serological, molecular, and genotyping tests. 1.277 samples were collected from Surrounding of the Tucuruí Hydroeletric, Pacuí, Hole of Maracujá and Nazário communities. Predominant age group 18-37 years old, female, married, low education, fishermen or açaí extractor, with up to 1 minimum wage. Respecting the particular characteristics of each local, consumption of alcohol and tobacco ranged between communities, as well as sharing the spiked material and cutting, the manicure kits, surgeries, hospitalization, presence of sexually transmitted diseases and if has any familiar with hepatitis. The Pacuí presented prevalence of HCV infection of 8,84 % having moderate prevalence of infection and Tucuruí was 2,25 %, close to the national average. The genotype 1 was found in 100% of Pacuí samples and 70% of Tucuruí samples, which possessed the remaining 30% of the samples belonging to genotype 3, following the pattern expected genotype distribution. In Maracujá Hole and Nazário Hole, there were no positive samples. The communities seem to have individuals who should be considered for the taking of public health measures, with increased risk of infection through drug use and the sharing of needlestick objects. The viral circulation have intermediate to moderate prevalence, with standard genotypic distribution similar to the Brazilian. The distribution of the infection and its features can vary within the country and even within their own regions, depending on the presence and viral circulation, in addition to the risk factors to which comunities are exposed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Associação das variantes da região carboxiterminal do gene cagA de Helicobacter pylori com o desenvolvimento de distúrbios gastroduodenais em Belém-Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012) SILVA, Adenielson Vilar e; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Helicobacter pylori CagA cytotoxin, encoded by the cagA gene, has been associated with increased inflammatory response in gastric tissue and the change in control of cell growth and proliferation. Activation of this cytotoxin occurs by phosphorylation in specific tyrosine residues within an amino acid sequence termed motif EPIYA, four types of motifs are described in the literature (EPIYA-A,-B-C and D). However, the site EPIYA-C is the most common site of phosphorylation of CagA protein of the bacterial strains isolated in Western countries, may still be found in repetitions. This study aimed to determine the types of motifs EPIYA of CagA present in patients with gastritis and gastric cancer and its association with these diseases. Were collected samples from gastric biopsies of 384 patients infected with H. pylori, of this 194 presented chronic gastritis and 190 had gastric cancer. The gastric biopsy was used for bacterial DNA extraction and analysis of the cagA gene by PCR. The prevalence of gastric cancer occurs in males, mean age 58 years. The cagA gene was more prevalent in patients with gastric cancer, showing association with a higher degree of inflammation, neutrophil activity and development of intestinal metaplasia (OR = 4,31, IC 95% = 2,71-6,87, p <10-3; OR = 3,57, IC 95% = 2,18 – 5,84, p <10-3; OR = 11,11, IC 95% = 5,48 – 22,30, p <10-3; OR = 3,65, IC 95% = 1,50-8,88, p=0,004, respectively). The number of repetitions EPIYA-C site was significantly associated with increased risk of gastric cancer (OR = 2,99, IC 95% = 1,53-5,82, p <10-3). The higher number of motifs EPIYA-C was also associated with intestinal metaplasia (p = 0,02). In this study the infection by strains of H. pylori carriers cagA gene with more than one motif EPIYA-C shown to be associated with the development of intestinal metaplasia and gastric cancer, but without an association to neutrophil activity and degree of inflammation.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação da resposta imunológica a vacina da Hepatite B nos trabalhadores do Hospital Municipal de Imperatriz-MA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012) SANTOS, Wllington Jorge dos; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769The hospital offers risk when the exposure of health professionals and other workers to a variety of materials, especially organic. This study aims to determine the prevalence of serological markers for HBV (ABsAg, anti-HBc and anti-HBS) and analyze the immune response to hepatitis B vaccine among workers of the Municipal Hospital Imperatriz- MA. We consulted the medical records of 257 hospital workers in different categories of professionals. Was removed from the records information about the immunization schedule for hepatitis B, and the results of serological markers (HBsAg, Anti HBs, Anti HBC total) performed by them in 2010 and 2011. In search of serological markers for HBV was observed that had the HBsAg 0.4%, 10% anti-HBc and 34% anti-HBs. Based on the interpretation of serological markers surveyed 62% of employees are susceptible to HBV infection. The age group 41-60 years, the service time, where 72% of servers that had come in contact with HBV had more than three years service in the hospital was more frequent among employees reagents. The vaccination for HBV has been observed that among the servers that had come in contact with the virus most of them 84% had completed the immunization schedule. The results of this study highlights the need for intensification of strategies to improve vaccination coverage against hepatitis B, training of professionals about preventive measures against accidents with biological material and professional awareness of the use of personal protection equipment and collective.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Caracterização dos genótipos do vírus da hepatite b em pacientes atendidos no programa de hepatites virais do núcleo de medicina tropical – UFPA, Belém - Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-05-27) ALMEIDA, Marcella Kelly Costa de; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769The hepatitis B virus belongs to the genus Orthohepdnavirus and Hepadnaviridae family, comprising a DNA virus capable of infecting mammalian hepatotropic. Classified into 10 genotypes (A-J) and many different subgenotypes, studies suggest that they may influence the severity of the disease, response to treatment and vaccine response. Genotypes and subgenotypes HBV has a wide distribution, some being restricted to certain geographic regions, while others show a worldwide distribution. It is found in different regions of Brazil with prevalence of genotypes A, D and F. This study aimed to identify genotypes and subgenotypes of hepatitis B virus among patients treated at the Tropical Medicine Center - UFPA, in the city of Belém, state Pará, from January 2011 to December 2015. A total of 1274 patients treated at the NMT-UFPA in the period, were selected for the study 222 patients of both sexes, with positive serology for HBsAg and / or anti-HBc. The samples were subjected to molecular biology, PCR "in house" and multiplex PCR to detect viral DNA and genotyping, and then the sequencing for confirmation and determination of viral subgenotypes. In 65 of the 222 samples was detected the presence of HBV DNA, but only 63 samples were satisfactory after the result of sequencing, which were identified the presence of genotypes A (46/63), especially the subgenotype A1 (36/46) followed by subgenotype A2 (10/46), and genotype F (17/63) and only detected subgenotype F2 (17/17) circulating in this population. The average age of the patients was 38 years, predominantly male, and most natural state of Pará patients. Some risk factors have been identified among the population studied, and not using a condom during sex the most predominant. Comparing the presence of viral DNA with serology for HBsAg marker is shown a picture that suggests the presence of occult hepatitis among the patients treated. The results found in this study are consistent with what is reported in other studies in Brazil.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) As hepatites B e C na população carcerária feminina do Pará: prevalência, genotipagem e fatores de risco(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015) MORAES, Nayana Maria Leal; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769The characteristic of high-risk behavior from the prison public contributes for a high prevalence of diseases transmitted by sexual or parenteral route. Considering the high rates of hepatitis B and C in prisons, this study aims to identify the main risk factors, the prevalence of these diseases and the founded genotypes. This study is an analytical cross-sectional. The sample was composed of 313 inmates from the Female Recovery Center in the State of Pará, wich agreed to participate of this study and were in good physical and mental health. Blood samples were collected and applied a socio-epidemiological questionnaire. The socio-epidemiological analysis showed a predominance of the age group 25-34 years (44.8%), marital status single (55%), incomplete elementary school education (68%) and 1 minimum family wage (65% ). The variables of age and education showed a statistically significant correlation with markers of HBV infection. Risk factors such as cutting and piercing material sharing, tattoo, hospitalization, dental surgery and not condom use showed high frequency. The variable of hospitalization showed statistics association with markers of HBV infection. Serology by ELISA assay showed that 3% were positive for HBsAg, 15% reagents for Anti-HBc, 23% reagents for anti-HBs and 5% for anti-HCV. In the genotyping of samples was found wich from of 10 HBsAg positive samples, 4 samples had undetectable genotype, in 5 samples the genotype E was identified (still not mentioned in Brazil), and in 1 was identified the genotype F (third most prevalent the country) ; from the 17 positive samples for Anti-HCV, 41.2% had undetectable genotype, this same percentage was obtained for genotype 1, and in 17.6% of samples was found the genotype 3, in agreement with the Brazilian standard described in literature.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Pesquisa e genotipagem do vírus da hepatite C em portadores de doenças renais crônicas submetidos à hemodiálise(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-12-20) FREITAS, Maria de Jesus Rodrigues; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Patients with chronic kidney disease are at high risk of acquiring hepatitis C virus (HCV). The prevalence of hepatitis C in hemodialysis units is high. The study aimed to assess the presence of HCV and its different genotypes in patients with chronic kidney disease who underwent hemodialysis in Belém and metropolitan area in the state of Pará, Brazil, determining the prevalence of the virus genotypes and epidemiological characteristics of patients with chronic kidney disease. We conducted cross-sectional study, hemodialysis units in seven cities of Belém and metropolitan area in the period from October 2011 to April 2012. A questionnaire was applied to social data, epidemiological and on the presence of risk factors for viral hepatitis. Biological material was collected from the patients for HCV PCR and ELISA tests. Patients with the presence of viral RNA were evaluated for genotypes. The prevalence of antibodies to HCV between the groups was 8.4%, while 5.4% had viral RNA, with 0.1% among those who were negative. Genotype 1 was the most prevalent, with 86.1%, followed by type 2, with 11.6%. The type 3 was only 2.3%. Whereas epidemiological analysis showed male predominance, age 49, married or in a stable, low education level and family income of up to two minimum wages. The main cause of CKD was diabetes mellitus (34.4%), followed by glomerulonephritis (18.6%) and hypertension (17.1%). The duration of hemodialysis was significantly important risk factor for acquiring HCV (p = 0.012), with the majority of HCV patients who acquired the disease during hemodialysis were above 5 years of treatment (p = 0.0001). Another risk factor associated with HCV was prior organ transplant. We conclude that, in Belém and the metropolitan area, the prevalence of HCV in hemodialysis was high and the most frequent genotype is the same as the general population in northern Brazil.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Prevalência da Hepatite B oculta nos pacientes atendidos no Núcleo de Medicina Tropical da Universidade Federal do Pará, Amazônia Brasileira(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-03-15) SANT'ANNA, Carla de Castro; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Infection with hepatitis B occult (OBI) is characterized by absence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in commercial immunoassays, despite the persintência HBV DNA in the serum and / or liver tissue. The few studies of this clinical form in Brazil, mainly in the Amazon region, seen as an endemic area for hepatitis B virus (HBV), hamper the analysis to identify the epidemiological profile of the site. The objective of study was to determine the prevalence of hepatitis B occult in patients attended at the Tropical Medicine Center outpatient - Federal University of Pará, from January 2011 to December 2015, characterization of circulating viral genotypes and identify the main risk factors for the acquisition of this clinical form. Four hundred and sixty-five serum samples were submitted to ELISA (Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) for detection of serological markers of HBV (HBsAg, anti-HBc and anti-HBs). Total 181 patients resulted in a non-reactive HBsAg, anti-HBc reactive and anti-HBs nonreactive. These were screened with a PCR assay for identification of HBV-DNA. Subsequently, the positive samples were sequenced to identify the genotypes and mutations. Of the 181 samples, 26 (14,36%) had serum HBV-DNA, demonstrating the infection by OBI. The average age of 39 years, 53.45% (14/26) were married and 50% (13/26) were male. The genotype A was found in 88.46% (23/26), with the most prevalent subgenotype A1 with 78.26% (18/23) and genotype A2 with 21.73% (5/23). The genotype F was found in only 11.53% (3/26), in the presence of F2 genotype in all samples. As for risk factors only the nail pliers share was statistically significant. Some amino acid substitutions were identified in samples of patients with HBO compared with the HBsAg samples reagentes, but no mutation was identified. The study found a high prevalence of hepatitis B occult in patients treated at the Tropical Medicine Center – UFPA. HBV molecular studies are of fundamental importance for the identification of patients who are considered healthy, but they do have the infection and can be a transmitter disease potential.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Prevalência da infecção por HTLV em gestantes atendidas em serviços públicos de pré-natal no município de Santarém-Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-12-17) MONTEIRO, Mariana dos Anjos Furtado; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Prevalência de enteroparasitoses e anemia e suas correlações com estado nutricional das crianças ribeirinhas do furo do Maracujá - Acará/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011) FERNANDES, Adriana Prado; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769In recent decades there has been recognition that the actions of disease prevention and promoting healthy lifestyles promoted in the child a full growth and development. Since these actions are only viable means of population studies that the child is inserted. However, these benefits become unmanageable children who live in coastal communities, since these studies are extremely scarce. It is known that anemia and intestinal parasitic infections affect child nutritional status thus hindering the full development. The study include 80 children aged 1-10 years, and a 45 (56%) were female and 35 (44%) were male. We had a high prevalence of intestinal parasites found in all these children. The parasites found were E. histolytica/dispar (36.8%), G. lamblia (31.2%), A. lumbricoides (23.2%), T. trichiura (4.8%), hookworm (2.4%) and passing S. stercoralis (1.6%). There was also a high prevalence of anemia (77.5%), noting that children of 1-5 years of age were the hardest hit. The correlation of anemia and deficiency of serum iron was significant (p = 0.0001), since 91% of children were anemic and iron deficiency. The most surprising about this study was that 72.5% of children were well nourished before both intestinal parasites and anemia. We did not observe almost no studies relating to these variables in children riverside, but only by what we watch and shows the results obtained in a context marked by precarious living conditions.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Prevalência de Hepatite C em pacientes em terapia de substituição renal na cidade de Imperatriz – Maranhão(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012) SILVA, Maria Izabel Leite da; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Hepatitis C is considered a public health problem in Brazil and worldwide, with a high risk of becoming chronic, and complications such as hepatocellular carcinoma and liver cirrhosis. Patients on hemodialysis have a high risk for infection with hepatitis C for many reasons. Studies show high prevalence rates in dialysis units worldwide. In the state of Maranhao there´s no studies showing the profile of HCV in the population of patients with chronic renal failure. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of hepatitis C in patients undergoing renal replacement therapy in the city of Imperatriz-Maranhao. As well as to investigate the main risk factors involved in transmission of HCV in this population. This is a cross-sectional study conducted at a clinic of kidney diseases, the period between January and December 2010. The target population for the study consisted of 181 patients on renal replacement therapy, hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. We used a questionnaire designed to obtain epidemiological data was collected peripheral blood sample, in order to perform the search for anti-HCV testing and molecular biology research and genotyping of viral RNA. The results showed a prevalence of 7.2% (13/181) in HCV patients. A higher frequency of males among patients with HCV (92%). The risk factor that stood out was the duration of hemodialysis, where 30.8% of patients over 15 years of treatment had antibodies against HCV and had abnormal ALT levels. The prevalence of Hepatitis C was high in the study unit. The duration of dialysis was considered crucial for the positivity of the virus, males had higher incidence. Individuals with chronic HCV infection had ALT levels higher than those without chronic hepatitis C infection.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Prevalência e fatores de risco associados à infecção pelo vírus da Hepatite E em duas comunidades ribeirinhas do estado do Pará, Norte do Brasil(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-12-15) FERREIRA, Patrícia; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is a major public health problem in many developing countries and is also endemic in some industrialized countries. Hepatitis E is fecal-oral transmission, which favors the spread of infection in developing countries where contamination of water reservoirs keeps the chain of transmission of the disease. The riverside dwellers live in small communities mostly on the banks of rivers, streams, igapós and lakes. Poor sanitation and lack of access to safe drinking water in these communities often lead to enteric infections in early childhood, and poor schooling and poor access to health services can further expose this population to various diseases. This study aimed to determine the HEV seroprevalence in two riverside communities in the State of Pará, outlining the socio-epidemiological profile, comparing seroprevalence among communities and describing the main risk factors for the acquisition of viral infection. The study was developed in distinct riverside communities near the municipality of Belém: Furo do Maracujá Community, located in the municipality of Acará and Furo do Nazário, located in the municipality of Barcarena. A total of 414 samples were collected and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed for the detection of Anti-HEV antibodies. The prevalence of Anti HEV was 3% (13/414) in these populations. There was no association between the prevalence of hepatitis E markers with age, gender, schooling and family income, however, precarious basic sanitation in both communities favors the acquisition of HEV infection. The seroprevalence of hepatitis E in this study was similar to the rates found in other regions of Brazil. However, the distribution of infection may vary within the country and even within the regions themselves, depending on the risk factors to which the communities are exposed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Prevalência e fatores de risco para a Hepatite viral B em pacientes submetidos a hemodiálise na cidade de Belém/PA – Brasil(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014) FREITAS, Andrei Silva; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major worldwide health problem. Recent studies have reported that patients with chronic kdney desease on hemodialysis are at high risk of acquiring HBV. The research was conducted in three Hemodialysis Centers in the city of Belém, Pará , Northern Brazil . The objective of this study was to describe the prevelence of HBV infection associated risk factors. A total of 298 patients were interviewed in three hemodialysis centers. Serum samples were screened for HBV serological markers by ELISA ( Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay) . A percentage of 26.85 % (80/ 298) of individuals who have come into contact with HBV ( 23/298 HBsAg reagent and 67/298 reagent for anti - HBc Total) was observed . Individuals who have multiple sexual partners , who received blood transfusion , sharing nail clippers and those on hemodialysis for more than five years have a higher risk for acquiring HBV.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Soroepidemiologia da hepatite C em pacientes HIV/AIDS do serviço ambulatorial especializado do Programa DST/AIDS de Imperatriz-Maranhão(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012) SOUSA, Alda Emídia Barroso Pinheiro de; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769The co-infection of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is frequently observed because these viruses present in their similarity transmission routes, particularly in relation to the parenteral route. In Brazil, the frequency depends on the geographical area in question, ranging from 8.9% to 54%. In co-infected patients, the progression of HCV disease is usually more aggressive and has a high level of viremia, but there is an increased risk of association with HCV cirrhosis and / or liver cancer. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of HCV and risk factors associated with coinfection in HIV-positive individuals in the city of Imperatriz Maranhão. Participants 249 HIV positive patients seen at the SAE Program Municipal STD / AIDS Imperatriz of Maranhão. Was collected from each volunteer 10 mL of peripheral blood for routine HIV testing, where research was done HCV IgG antibodies specific tests and Molecular Biology (RT-PCR) to investigate the viral RNA and genotyping. Among the patients there was similarity between the frequency of genera, 49% male and 51% female, mean age 40 years. It was observed that 98% have low literacy and 63% have an income of up to one minimum wage. The seroprevalence of anti-HCV was 2.4% (6/249). In comparing the risk factors studied among patients in the reactive and non reactive serologic test for HCV-specific antibodies demonstrated that the presence of tattoos and piercing was the only factor that was significant, being more frequent in the reactants. This was the first study that investigates the HIV and HCV coinfection in the city of Imperatriz, Maranhão and identification of coinfected patients was of fundamental importance for the service since then will follow up these patients.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Soroepidemiologia das hepatites virais B e C nas comunidades ribeirinhas residentes na região do lago da usina hidrelétrica de Tucuruí, estado do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-02-06) ALMEIDA, Marcella Kelly Costa de; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Viral hepatitis is a disease caused by different etiologic agents that have in common hepatotropism. Epidemiologically, the relevance of these diseases is due to the wide geographic distribution and the huge number of infected individuals in virtually every country in the world. For this study were 668 randomly selected residents of the islands of Tucuruí dam lake. We collected blood samples for research of serological markers HBsAg, anti-HBc, Anti-HBs and anti-HCV using enzyme immunoassay. Patients with reactive serology for HCV were tested by molecular biology (RT-PCR and RFLP) for detection of viral genotypes. Of the 668 coastal studied, 1.95% were positive for HBsAg, 28% for Anti-HBc Total and 41.91% for anti-HBs. The presence of the marker anti-HBs alone (vaccine response) was observed in 25.75% of the volunteers. The serological marker for hepatitis C was observed in 2.24%, and of these 70% had genotype 1. The results indicate an intermediate level of endemicity in this region for HBV and HCV. In addition to HBV vaccination coverage is low.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Soroepidemiologia do HCV em doadores de sangue na cidade de Imperatriz – MA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012) COSTA, Cristiano dos Santos; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Due to high mortality and especially morbidity, hepatitis is one of the most serious public health problems in the country and the world. Among them we highlight the infection of hepatitis C. The number of people who are unaware they are infected with HCV is relevant. As currently HCV transmission by blood transfusion and blood products is rare among blood donors, after the introduction of screening method in centers haemotherapic, crucial to detect the existence of a possible infection in the donor. The epidemiological reality of hepatitis C in Empress needs more knowledge and planning prevention strategies and assistance to individuals with HCV, since there is no network service for consolidated treatment, bureaucracy is great to reach the diagnosis of disease and under-reporting of cases is high. Aims to evaluate the prevalence of HCV in blood donation candidates in the municipality of Imperatriz - MA, so as to analyze the profile of the candidates considered unfit to donate blood in HEMOMAR, this city; determine the seroprevalence of Hepatitis C Virus among blood donors in the period from 2005 to 2010; conduct the survey of epidemiological data, highlighting the gender and age group with the highest prevalence of hepatitis C; comparing epidemiological data identifying the merits of the candidates seropositive for hepatitis C. the study is cross-sectional in nature, involving blood donors of the Center for Hematology of Maranhão Imperatriz - MA. In the distribution of blood donors HEMOMAR, regional Imperatriz-MA for sex, it appears that, in the years 2005 to 2011 the flow of donors was characterized by individuals of both sexes, with male predominance (75, 01%), when analyzing the profile of prospective donors with positive serology for HCV, we found that these were also the majority. The age of the blood donors was the predominant HEMOMAR 18-29. Candidates donation with positive serology for HCV, 79.17% were found in the situation of married / stable. Among the donors who were considered unfit to donate, 0.21% were seropositive for HCV. Most prospective donors with HCV seropositivity belonged to the municipality of Imperatriz. It was concluded that it's important to remember that the screening process clinical and laboratory reduces contamination risks in the process of blood transfusion. The figure of the donor blood should always be appreciated and congratulated by all.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Soroprevalência e fatores de risco para as hepatites virais B e C na comunidade ribeirinha de Pacuí-Cametá/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010) OLIVEIRA, Claudia Suellen Ferro de; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769Viral hepatitis is an important problem public health in Brazil, mainly in the northen region wich there are few studies in this area especiallu in coastal communities , due to difficult acess. The research aimed to determine the prevalence of viral hepatitis B and C in the Amazon river town, Pacui Island, city of Cametá, Para State, and to investigate the socio-economic characteristics and major risk factor that this community is exposed. Comprised a total of 181 volunteers, these blood samples were collected and applied an epidemiological questionnaire. The research of specific serological markers was perfomed by commercial ELISA kits for detection of HbsAg, anti-Hbc, anti-Hbs and anti-HCV. In patients reagent for HCV wad done RT-PCR for identificantion of viral RNA. In the analysis of serological markers for hepatitis B, no reactivity for HBsAg was observed, rates of 1,1% (2 – 181) for anti-HBc and 19,3% (35 – 181) for anti-Hbs. The seroprevalence of hepatitis C was 8,8% (16 – 181), 16 samples of reagent, 37,5% (6 – 16) hac HCV RNA. In the analysis of major risk factors stood out as not using condoms, sharing of nail clippers, hospitalization, multiple sexual partners and familiar with hepatitis B or C. It was observed that vaccination coverage against HBV is low in this community, and we found a high prevalence of HCV. The community had no knowledge about viral hepatitis B and C and not on the risk factors to which it is exposed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Vírus da Hepatite C: prevalência dos genótipos, fatores de risco, alterações bioquímicas e histopatológicas de pacientes atendidos no Núcleo de Medicina Tropical(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011) FECURY, Amanda Alves; MARTINS, Luisa Caricio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1799493244439769The hepatitis caused by HCV is a silent disease that tends to develop into the chronic form. The viral persistence depends on genetic factors of the individual and the virus (genotypes), lifestyle and exposure to risk factors increase the chances of the carrier to develop hepatocellular carcinoma. This study objective to check the liver function of patients with hepatitis C and evaluate the risk factors for acquiring the virus and determine the most prevalent HCV genotypes and the genotypes correlate with histopathologic findings of liver biopsies.. The sample consisted of 152 adult patients with reagent serology (ELISA) for anti-HCV, who agreed to participate, collected blood samples for analysis and answered an epidemiological questionnaire. Epidemiological analysis showed most male, age 45 years and a predominance of married or stable individuals. Regarding risk factors for acquiring the infection, there was a multiplicity of partners, not condom use, hospitalizations, and manicure kits share. In the detection of viral RNA, 107 (70,4%) were positive, with 97 (90,6%) genotype 1 and 10 (9,4%) genotype 3. There was no variation in the biochemical assays, the genotypes and histophatological changes. Of the 65 patients who underwent liver biopsy and histopathological examination, all patients had chronic hepatitis. Analyzing the histopatological changes and viral genotypes found association of these variables, with the genotype 1 related histological changes more intense. The results are in agreement with other previously reported.
