Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Os corpos de trabalhadores na província do Grão-Pará: outros significados para uma política de arregimentação da mão de obra (1835-1840)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-11-27) LOPES, Patrícia Raiol Castro de Melo; COELHO, Mauro Cezar; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7187368960757936The years of the first half of 19th century are marked by the court attempt to fit the provinces in their pattern of civilization and introduce it in the Imperial State. In Grão-Pará, territory unification and empire consolidation had some conflicts caused by Cabana rebellions. Portuguese Empire called marshal Francisco José de Souza Soares d’Andréa to combat cabanos. Among his worries there were issues such as political disputes between local authorities, military restoration, population control and regional economy development, all related to manpower problems and its insufficiency to perform required services in the province. This is how his speeches take measures to control and civilize the population, defending the renewal of habits and encouraging work. On april 25, 1838, president Soares d’Andréa regulate in Grão-Pará the politics of free worker regimentation establishing a provincial constitution called “Corpos de Trabalhadores”. During some time “Corpos de Trabalhadores” came up in the history as an institution which only aimed the rebel population control in Pará, as an entity to stop Cabanos. Mentioned in the beginning by Cabangem students the economic importance of the corporation is still an object of research. Accordingly, the “Corpos de Trabalhadores” has other meanings. Besides a tool with the objective of population control, the corporation was an attempt to bring peace through manpower concentration. It intended men enlist for necessary services to province economic restoration. In marshal Andréa politic project the key was development, reorganization of industry and Grão-Pará market. Besides, the institution was a politic arrangement between Imperial State and the ones who represented important people in the region.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Cruentas guerras: índios e portugueses nos sertões do Maranhão e Piauí (primeira metade do século XVIII)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-08-19) MELO, Vanice Siqueira de; CHAMBOULEYRON, Rafael Ivan; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7906172621582952In the captaincies of Maranhão and of Piauí, in Portuguese America, there were many wars against Indians throughout the first half of the eighteenth century. This dissertation discusses how the space of these captaincies was described in colonial texts, as well as how the troops contributed to transform the landscape of the region. This dissertation examines how the colonial landscape was composed both by the Indians spaces and by the relationship that indigenous groups established with each other and with Luso-brazilian settlers. We look for, of this form, to understand as if they construct to the social relations between the capuchos and the secular world, relations these marked by fights born from different points of view, mainly in what it is referring to the contact with the indian, and that they allow to analyze the ultimate aspects of the missionaries as a nucleus of being able in the State of the Maranhão and Grão-Pará.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A extinção da companhia de comércio e o tráfico de africanos para o estado do Grão Pará e Rio Negro (1777 – 1815)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012) SILVA, Marley Antonia Silva da; LAHON, Didier André Roger; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1360485249187891Our purpose was to study the trafficking of Africans to the State of the Grand-Pará and Rio Negro in the period 1777 to 1815. To achieve our objectives, we use the information contained in the database of the Transatlantic Slave Trade (BDCTE), the documentation compiled by Public Archives of Para Anaíza Vergolino Figueiredo and Napoleon in the book “A presença Africana na Amazônia Colonial: uma notícia histórica”, crossed with the documentation of Project Rescue - AHU also consult the bibliography. In the first chapter we developed an appreciation of historiography to dentify the same perception about the trafficking of Africans to the Grand-Pará, with questioning and articulating the main arguments on the issue, moreover, identified the production and the prospects of historiography that treats on trafficking in the state of Maranhão. Then we try to point out the factors which enabled the continuation of trade in slaves from Africa, being phased out commercial monopoly. We discuss some aspects of political and economic state experienced by the Grand Para. In this scenario it was possible to identify the impacts of the end of the exclusive trade, through the reactions of residents and administrators of Grand Para, expressed in the speeches made by them. At the end we pause to identify and dynamic organization of the traffic, the quantitative aspects of it. Furthermore, we observed that very little was said by the historiography on those responsible for this trade to continue after CCGPM therefore identify who the "businessmen" who financed the trade to the state in question, highlighting the participation of residents Grand Para, as custeadores this trade.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Os ideais de civilização na Amazônia imperial: um estudo sobre os projetos de civilização indígena no Pará (1845-1889)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011) SOUSA, Eveline Almeida de; COELHO, Mauro Cezar; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7187368960757936This paper examines the projects of indigenous civilization developed by four intellectuals of the Second Empire who lived in the province of Para in this period. Their names are: Henrique de Beaurepaire Rohan, Couto Vieira de Magalhães, Antonio Macedo Costa and José Verissimo. Their perceptions about the indigenous civilization are considered, by one side, as considering the specifics of the intellectual condition of the Empire, emphasizing the provision of such scholars within the field with the intellectual and their connections within the power field; on the other side, they are considered under the social lens of these agents, regarding to their ideological beliefs, their work, the debates and political struggles in which they were involved, these elements were active in their political action and in the formulation of their ideas. Such notions are consistent with the experience built in amazon space, which contributed to the preparation of their visions about indigenous civilization. Thus, perceptions about the Indigenous people were related with political and intellectual attitudes of the intellectual agents of the Empire , as it was with their experience in the amazon valley.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O longo caminho dos Corrêa de Miranda no século XIX: um estudo sobre família, poder e economia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-09-18) ÂNGELO, Helder Bruno Palheta; CANCELA, Cristina Donza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8393402118322730This essay is inserted in the subject of History of the Family and has as an objective to discuss the trajectory of Côrrea de Miranda Family during the XIX Cent., focusing in their economic and political activities and the characteristics of the social relations that were woven through the century. Through the crossing of multiple types of historic sources such as: inventories, wills, journals, provincial presidents reports, chroniclers accounts, among other documents, we will focus to the actions of their members in localities such as Igarapé-Miri, Abaetetuba, Belém e Soure. To begin with, it will be presented the specificities that the Côrrea de Miranda showed by comparison to other traditional families of the XIX cent. paraense scenario.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Para além da Baía de Guajará: migrações em Arapiranga e Ilha das Onças (1905-1950)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2024-01-19) SARMENTO, Enos Botelho; GUZMÁN, Décio Marco Antônio de Alencar; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0656841754619406; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3219-4404This work presents the migration dynamics between Belém and its island border (the island of Onças and the island of Arapiranga) in the first half of the 20th century (1905-1950). Through a historiographical and documentary critique, the aim is to explain the mobilities that led to the settlement of these varzeira regions following the arrival of migrants in the territories of Pará, to add this study to research on migratory movements in the Amazon estuary, rescuing the trajectories of foreigners, northeasterners and internal displacement, investigating in selected sources the origin of this population that currently resides in this estuary. The investigation seeks to contribute to Pará and Amazonian historiography to introduce the islands into historical perspective and reflections, refuting stigmatizing discourses about them, commonly imagined as regions empty of memory, with no interest in economic or political historical reflection.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Um rio e suas gentes: ocupação e conflitos nas margens do rio Turiaçu na fronteira entre Pará e Maranhão (1790-1824)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-08-31) SOUZA, Sueny Diana Oliveira de; RICCI, Magda Maria de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4368326880097299The objective that dissertation is discusses the process of occupation in the region of Turiaçu on the frontier between Pará and Maranhão, in the period 1790 to 1824. Initially this study recovers the efforts colonizers of the Portuguese administration of D. Francisco de Souza Coutinho, illustrated Governor of the Province of Pará. With him were intensified the cession of land and forms of control. Roads were opened, changed locations of place or function and indigenous peoples displaced and rearranged. Legally, the Turiaçu region was occupied through donation of land from the concession and confirmation of letters of allotments still in middle of century XVIII. Ho we ver there were alsoo ther forms of occupation and organizations developed by in dians, blacks and poor white men. This study analyzes the multiple conflicts: social, territorial and identity occurred between the various populations that are concentrated in the region, especially in the final year sof the colonial period to independence and adherence of the Grand Para her.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Vigiando, divulgando e reprimindo: o papel da imprensa no cotidiano dos moradores de Belém (1897-1910)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-06-01) GOMES, João Arnaldo Machado; SARGES, Maria de Nazaré dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2076421409418420The center of discussion in this research is the theme of social control exercised by the economic and political elites in Belém that was intended to modernize and civilize during the municipal management of intendant Antônio Lemos between the years of 1897 to 1910. Seen from the perspective of the press, the proposal was try to understand how the exercise of this control was reinforced, in a particular way, by the newspapers The Province of Pará and Leaf of the North, trough the daily publication of police chronicles that reported from crimes to transgressions occurred in the urban space. The objective is to understand the dynamics of the relationship between the two newspapers and the ideals of civility and modernity defended by the elites in the exercise of repression of popular habits and customs through the dissemination of news that denounced spaces and individuals considered suspects in order to perceive how the different layers of society interacted in the urban environment, and how police work developed in the daily of the city in dealing with the population in general.
