Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Belém de Dalcídio ou história e experiência literária da paisagem urbana da Amazônia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016) PRESSLER, Gunter KarlUnlike many books on Amazon that insist on the myth and in the jungle, until today, our article addresses the issue of culture and literature in the Amazon from the historical-geographical perspective and the sine qua non condition of any cultural expression in modern sense, i.e., departing from the existence of the city with public life and politics published in newspapers, magazines and books, presupposing press, printings, literary circles and modern media. The first newspaper in the Amazon appeared already in 1822 had as editor in chief Felipe Patroni, the second one that circulated between 1824 and 1827, was directed by Don Romualdo de Seixas. With the opening of the free navigation of the Amazon River in 1867, naturalist travellers arrived to the Amazon, and with them greater attention to a public life and national and international information, in the last quarter of the 19th century, intense cultural and journalistic activities developed with editors and contributors. It should be noticed that the city in the 19th century had as inhabitants mostly native and slaves and a strong experience of popular culture. How did Belem and the interior of Para state change in the late 19th century, with the intensive extraction of rubber in the Amazon? Our study presents approaches of perception and urban living not by priests, architects or travelers, but by the modern novelist, Dalcídio Jurandir (1909-1979), in order to contribute on the issue of border between city and countryside and urban and regional experience in the environment dominated by water and forest.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Bruno de Menezes, Dalcídio Jurandir e De Campos Ribeiro e as territorializações afro-amazônicas urbanas (da belle époque à década de trinta)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-11-22) SANTOS, Josiclei de Souza; FURTADO, Marli Tereza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2382303554607592The present paper makes a reading of the profane and sacred Afro-Amazonian territorializations in the city of Belém from the nineteenth to the twentieth century, and in the first decades of it, from the works Gostosa Belém de Outrora (1965), by José de Campos Ribeiro, Belém do Grão Pará (1960), by Dalcídio Jurandir, and Batuque (1939), by Bruno de Menezes, observing how the mentioned authors, through their experiences and research, got to create works that reinserted Afro-American minority groups in the narrative of the city. Amazonian communities that had been concealed by the narrative of the majority groups of the Amazon belle époque period, which took place during the gomiferous economic cycle, and these communities were hidden from the conformation narrative of the city. In this cycle there was an enunciative agency of Euro-indigenous essentiality, fed through an artistic production committed to the State apparatus. It is interesting for this paper what the referred works have of Minor Literature, working with the signs of Afro-Amazonian territorializations in the city of Belém, erasing the origin genealogies that generate racisms and hierarchies, which diminished the African descent participation in the Amazonian history. As tools for reading the studied works will be used Comparative Studies, as well as Cultural Studies, in a transdisciplinary perspective.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Cidade e educação: memórias e experiências do ensino primário e ginasial em Breves – Marajó das Florestas (1943-1985)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-06-30) PUREZA, Enil do Socorro de Sousa; PACHECO, Agenor Sarraf; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5839293025434267In order to understand the construction process of the city of Breves, in Marajó das Florestas, as a regional development hub, focusing on the 20th century, this research presented as a central thesis the assertion that educational experiences in primary and secondary education in the city of Breves , between the 1940s and 1980s, were of great importance for the formation, expansion of urban space and development of the municipality, attracting institutions, public and private services necessary for life in the 20th century to its structure. To arrive at the confirmation of this thesis, we started with the following problematizing questions: How were the city and education, and education and the city historically built in the territory of Breu, in the period from 1943 to 1985? How did the educational and sociocultural practices experienced by residents occur in the expansion and development of urban life? How did the implementation and/or strengthening of primary and secondary education take place in the city? From these guiding questions, the objectives of the research were: to analyze city and education and education and city through written, oral and visual documents, identifying historical-social changes and continuities in the ways of living in Brevense between the 1940s and 1980s; understand the trajectory of formation of the school group from 1943 in the city, the expansion and consolidation of primary education and follow the emergence of secondary education in the context of the 1960s/70s, its contributions to the expansion of the city and the visibility of the city in the regional and state scenario in times of military regime. Based on Social and Cultural History and dialoguing with written, oral and visual documents, the results indicate that Breves became the main educational center of the Marajós das Florestas, from the 1960s onwards with the implementation of the Miguel Bitar State Gym, which joined to primary education, which began in the 1940s with the Dr. Lauro Sodré, Boarding School Evangélico Amazonas and Colégio Santo Agostinho. They also showed that, in the education and city movement, the city became a regional reference in several sectors, and education played a sine qua non role, because through the training of people, multiple development possibilities were opened for Breves to become , nowadays, an educating city.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A cidade personagem de Belém do Grão-Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-11-29) BRASIL, Clara Alice da Silva Guimarães; FURTADO, Marli Tereza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2382303554607592A city establishes important meanings for Literature. Thus, many studies show the relevance seeking to understand the relationship between Literature and literary work. In "Belém do Grão-Pará" (1960) by Dalcídio Jurandir, this is no different, since the city becomes a crucial figure for the novel's plot; because of that, many scholars such as, Nunes (2006), Linhares (1987), Furtado (2010), Ornela (2003), Castilo (2007), emphasized the role that the city means in the narrative, more specifically, showing the current personification in the romantic lines. Considering this perspective, the initiative of this study is based on the necessity to extend this indication. To that end, the aim is to interpret Belém city as a character in the work "Belém do Grão-Pará". However, to reach this purpose it intends to note the limits between character and space in the narrative; understanding how configuring the city can establish it as a character; and, at the same time, inspecting how the city dialogues with other characters. To that end, proceeds the bibliographic research on a range of definitions of space, characters and cities in literature. Texts by Osman Lins (1976), Candido (2011), Santos e Oliveira (2001), Dimas (1985), Dias (1986), Briesemeister (1998), Freitag (1998) Mesquita (1986), Borges Filho (2007; 2009), Barbieri (2009), among others, were essential for the reflection of this purpose. Therefore, it is observed that the bounds between space and character are subtle and, mainly, they contribute to build the profile of the city, in concluding that it is a character in "Belém do Grão-Pará".Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Das águas para a cidade e da cidade pelas águas: mudanças e permanências em Maracanã/PA, uma cidade ribeirinha-costeira do Salgado Paraense(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2024-02-07) COSTA, Valter Pinheiro da; AMARAL, Márcio Douglas Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6997234298024427This research has as its theme: The city-river relationship and the Amazon coastal space. The object of analysis is: the production of urban space based on the city-river relationship and the coastal space. The locus is Maracanã/PA, a city of ancient colonization in the Salgado Paraense egion, which has had its dynamics altered over time by different processes of territorial modernization. It is an urban center linked to the river-floodplain-forest pattern of spatial organization (Gonçalves, 2015), with economic dynamics linked to the past and to the river-sea routes, revealing the city's articulation with a temporality not fully assimilated by the activities and ways of life recently implemented. In view of this, the question is: how has the production of urban space occurred in the city of Maracanã, considering the dialectic of riverside socio-spatial changes and permanences, intrinsic to the city-river relationship and the coastal space, in the face of the territorial dynamics derived from the action of the State and the interests of capital? The main objective is to analyze socio-spatial changes and continuities manifested in the relationship between the city of Maracanã and the river and coastal space, in light of the territorial dynamics of roads, fishing modernization, tourism and Conservation Units (UC). The main hypothesis is that, in the process of coexistence of intra-urban socio-spatial changes and permanences, the riverside-coastal dynamics of Maracanã/PA continue to produce a space of resistance with Amazonian characteristics typical of the dynamics that the city establishes as the river and the coastal space. This occurs even in the face of the transformative territorial modernization that advances due to the action of the State and the interests of capital, such as the opening of the branch known as “Old Road” and the PA-127; projects arising from the modernization of fishing, such as the fires at the Industrial Fishing Complex in the Itacoã neighborhood, beach tourism and the Maracanã Extractive Reserve Conservation Unit. The method of analysis used was the Regressive-Progressive. The methodological procedures applied were: literature review, document analysis, field research, photographic records, open interviews, application of forms and cartographic representations. The basic theory used the social production of space from the Lefebvrian perspective, as well as its application to studies of regional “urban diversity” (Trindade Jr., 2010, p. 235) with qualitative research techniques. As a result, the hypothesis initially proposed was proven. Thus, the city of Maracanã continues to produce a space of resistance with the presence of a “riverside” or way of life characteristic of the people who live on the banks of Amazonian water sources (Rente Neto and Furtado, 2015, p. 159), typical of the dynamics that the city establishes with the river and the coastal space. Thus, the Maracanã River in the coastal space continues to have great socioeconomic and cultural importance, although the city currently has a bimodal transportation system, with the road being the most used route. Therefore, Maracanã continues to maintain a Strong relationship with the river, manifesting characteristics of an authentic riverside-coastal city, due to its location on the riverbank in the coastal space, its historical genesis related to the first colonization process in the Amazon, its strong relationship with its immediate surroundings and the region, its values, daily habits and economic dynamics linked to traditional activities such as artisanal fishing.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Eles muitos cavalos e pssica: a literatura brasileira contemporânea imersa no caleidoscópio citadino(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2025-02-11) COELHO, Luana da Silva; PEREIRA, Helena Bonito Couto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9240687015870539Based on the assumption of the complexity of life in urban centers, which causes social and psychological impacts on the individuals who constitute this reality, this work seeks to analyze how this space is being represented in contemporary Brazilian literature, focusing on the novels Eles eram muitos cavalos (2001) by Luiz Ruffato from Minas Gerais and Pssica (2015) by Edyr Augusto from Pará. With the help of bibliographical research method and comparative literature, the aim is therefore to analyze the city as a space-character in the aforementioned novels, guided by the marks of Romanesque fragmentation, discussed by authors such as Sá (2007), Hossne (2007), Ricciardi (2007) and Macedo (2007); the forms of contemporary realism, based mainly on Schøllhammer (2009; 2012; 2013), the influences of cinematographic montagem techniques, elaborated by Eisenstein (1990), Leone & Mourão (1993), Stam (2000) and Carone (1973) and traces of the detective novel, theorized by Reimão (1983) and Massi (2011). In view of this, since the city is a theme that permeates the history of Brazilian literature, it can be inferred that its recurrent presence in contemporary writing is notable, since it is the locus that brings together a set of social ills. This theme has captured the attention of writers in today's context, being treated in different ways and represented through writing techniques that permeate the simultaneity of events occurring in big metropolises and influenced by the chronotope in which each author and work are inserted – from São Paulo, as in Ruffato's novel, to Belém and the Amazon region, as in Edyr's case.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) “Em auxílio dos seus”: Mutualismo espanhol numa cidade Amazônica (Belém-Pará, 1890 – 1920)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-02-26) LIMA, Aline de Kassia Malcher; NUNES, Francivaldo Alves; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4125313573133140At the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, the city of Belém underwent intense changes promoted by the rubber economy, the product of greatest export in the period. In this context, the city of Belém experiences the arrival of a significant number of national and international migrants moved by the opportunity of enrich with the opportunity that this land provided and propagandized. The Spaniards are the second largest group of foreign immigrants to the city of Belém. Most of them emigrated from Galicia, settling in the urban context and creating networks of sociability and solidarity through associations. The research object is the mutual aid associations for Spanish immigrants. The problem is to understand how the survival strategies of the Spaniards who arrived in the Amazon in the beginning of the 20th century are activated through the mutual aid associations in Belém, particularly the Union Española de Socorros Mútuos and the Centro Galaico del Pará. Ethnic mutualists of emigrants are configured as a true symbolic landmark of territoriality. Through a collection of different sources it was possible to understand the dynamics of its operation. In this sense, the memory of immigrants in relation to their homeland is preserved and the ties maintained with it are present throughout the existence of Spanish associative centers as a form of expression and belonging, these being platforms for political and social dialogue.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Gentes peixes e aves(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016) PEIXOTO, Lanna Beatriz Lima; ISABELLE, VéroniqueThe video results from an Ethnographic Video Workshop conducted by the members of the Anthropology of Landscapes Research Group: memories and imaginaries in the Amazon, whose intention was to capture images and, from there, produce an ethnographic narrative by images, To reflect on human-non-human interactions in the context of Pedra do Peixe, located in Ver-o-Peso, in the city of Belém (PA). The video is part of Urban Anthropology research, carried out by Dr. Flávio Silveira, as one of the results of an ongoing research linked to the productivity grant, funded by CNPq. Canon 5d and 60d cameras were used to capture the images.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Heteroendogenia intraurbana: reestruturação urbana e da cidade de Marabá-PA a partir de três centros e centralidades econômicas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-10-29) SILVA, Mauro Emilio Costa; RODRIGUES, Jovenildo Cardoso; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9028575905648156; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5650-1168The objective of the research is to understand how the process of urban and city restructuring of Marabá has been taking place, through the processes of center and centrality in the socioeconomic dimensions, whose spatial scope are the three central areas of the nuclei, namely: Marabá Pioneer, Nova Marabá and Cidade Nova in the period between 2000 and 2020. Although the analysis is based on the three intraurban spatial fractions mentioned and with indicated temporal clipping, it was sometimes necessary to insert long-distance sway mentions to to substantiate the scope of the research, as well as to go back in time in order to apprehend the spatial processes that determined the formation of the Maraba territory, apprehended in the forms and even functions that still persist and coexist with "new" dynamics, establishing a dialectical relationship between the traditional-modern and its resistance, coexistence and suppression. It became necessary to insert the discussion about modernity in order to understand the manifestations of this phenomenon in space through polycentric urban centralities, that is, materiality under technical support modern production and consumption. Thus, the economic centers and centralities emerge, with their greater significance of reconfiguration in the urban fabric, for services and trade activities, interpreted as polycentrality by the technical-transnational content it carries. The phenomenon of centrality produces substantial changes in urban content, which denotes the creation and / or intensification of central areas, complexing the intelligibility of the relations of both inter scalarity and intra-urban spatial interaction. Given this reality, we carried out the analysis in order to unveil the dynamics of the three centers that promote interscalarity by the facet of services and commerce, the same factors being associated with the social factor that was used to understand the relationships of intra-urban spatial interaction, in addition to an urban subsystemic perspective, aiming to apprehend complementarities and competitiveness among themselves. In this way, we consider that the contribution of the thesis results from the set of empirical elements raised and assessed as spatial dynamics, whose results apprehend that the concepts, center and urban centrality exerts significant importance when it is envisaged to recognize the process of urban and city restructuring, through the treatment of secondary and primary data, these, obtained through interlocution through various operational methodologies applied to subjects, resident, consumer, worker, capital and state, highlighting that it is a (multi) polycentric city composed of three interrelational polymorphic inter-scale centers, that is, with its particular forms, whose spatial expression is it verifies in the urban landscape of each center and the economic centralities with their respective interbred endogenous and exogenous contents.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Identidades e violência urbana: representações sociais sobre o papel do Centro de Referência da Assistência Social-CRAS no bairro de São Sebastião (Abaetetuba/PA)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2024-09-16) PINHEIRO, Isane Caripuna; CRUZ, Fernando Manuel Rocha da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1048087637452959; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1254-5601The Albras/Alunorte Project is a Japanese venture located in the municipality of Barcarena, Pará, 37 km from Abaetetuba. In the late 1980s, we witnessed the emergence of the São Sebastião neighborhood in the Abaetetuba municipality due to the concentration of migrant families. In the early years, the neighborhood lacked basic infrastructure and the presence of the state, which contributed to it becoming one of the most violent areas in the municipality, primarily due to the involvement of adolescents and young people in gangs. The insecurity and fear experienced by residents due to the clashes between these groups, along with the segregation and stigmatization of the area, led to the establishment of the first Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) in the municipality. This research aims to understand how the industrialization process carried out by the Albras/Alunorte Project socially influenced the São Sebastião neighborhood, particularly in terms of identity and culture. The methodological approach is qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory, based on the application of semi-structured interviews with members of families who were victims of the gangs, members of families who were part of the gangs, and employees and former employees of the state involved in the establishment and implementation of the CRAS, as well as one of the founders of the São Sebastião neighborhood. The research is guided bibliographically by the works of Bauman (2005), Bourdieu (2002), Costa (2022), Cruz (2011), Harvey (1989), Hall (2006), Koga (2011), Lefebvre (2011), and Machado (2020). Thus, the research demonstrates how the Albras/Alunorte Industrial Complex directly influences the socio-territorial-cultural composition of the population in the formation of the São Sebastião neighborhood. Regarding demographic growth, the São Sebastião neighborhood quickly became interconnected with the urban fabric. However, this demographic expansion occurred unevenly, resulting in one of the most pronounced manifestations of social issues: urban violence. With the arrival of the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) and later the Unified Arts and Sports Centers (CEUs), the contributions of these spaces through the services they provide to the community fostered not only a sense of belonging among residents but also a rediscovery of themselves as human beings and holders of their rights. Gradually, these institutions began to yield positive results, and the adolescents and young people who once gathered to "fight" among themselves started to come together for rehearsals and educational meetings, transforming a territory of violence into a territory of peace.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A imprensa ilustrada: uma análise das representações fotográficas em Belém (1910-1920)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2022-04-25) GOMES, Rodrigo Neves; LACERDA, Franciane Gama; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1007392320101957The research aims to analyze photographs published in newspapers and other printed matter such as albums and magazines that circulated through the city of Belém-PA, in the first decades of the twentieth century. The main newspapers of the period, such as Estado do Pará, Província do Pará and Folha do Norte, started to bring portraits of people and the urban space that accompanied the articles, helping in the understanding and in the idea of credibility of the news transmitted. Many of these photos showed aspects of the city that were different from the way the capital of Pará was represented in the heyday of latex exports. Thus, the images published in the periodicals highlight other angles of the city. Therefore, the dissertation discusses how the representations of some urban aspects of Belém and its residents recorded through photographs, help us to understand the economic, political and social context in which these productions were published, during the so-called rubber crisis.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O lazer no cotidiano: práticas coletivas como resistência(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-12) MENDES, Francivaldo José da Conceição; AMARAL, Márcio Douglas BritoThis paper discusses the notion of the city, of everyday life, with a central focus on the occurrence of leisure. In that contexto the leisure is understood as a set of human practices experienced in a free and differentiated time that coexists temporally and spatially in different societies. The objective is to demonstrate that in different spatial contexts there are various practices that, despite being considered litte important, constitute significant content of urban social life. These leisure practices exist because they re-exist to an irreducible logic of power. In other words, they are expressions of social daily life that are not captured by the technical rationality of urban forms and that are dissociated from a pattern that is based on consumption and the ephemerality of social relations. The reflection proposed here starts from a bibliographic review combined with repeated field observations that took place in cities in the Amazon and other regions of Brazil. In spite of the predominance of the abstraction of urban space, it was found that the subjects, in different times and spaces, maintain a sophisticated network of interaction and sociability whose materiality refers to spontaneous, non-rationalized practices, highlighting real paths to a city, a daily life , different for and for leisure.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Memórias das esquinas: as trajetórias de prostitutas na batalha pelo bairro da Campina, Belém-Pa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-05-29) SOUSA, Silvia Lilia Silva; SILVEIRA, Flávio Leonel Abreu da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1972975269922101In this paper i will look at prostitution in the urban context of Belem, specifically in the Campina neighbourhood, central area of the city of Belém / PA, where bohemia and prostitution in the capital predominated between the 19th and 20th centuries. In this district, the famous zone of the meretrício was built in 1921, also known as“quadrilátero do amor”, that was closed in the 1970s by the military government, and remained so throughout that decade. Starting from the studies of urban anthropology in interlocution with gender studies, I propose in this dissertation to understand the relationship between female prostitutes and the Campina neighborhood, taking into account their trajectories, memories and struggles. Thus, I perceive that among the street corners, nightclubs and small hotels, emerge stories that exist in the memories of these women; narratives that allow the reflection of different interpretations regarding the city. Therefore, they reference other forms of exercising sociability and experiencing the city.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Memórias, identidades e a cidade: a trajetória de docentes egressos do Campus Universitário de Abaetetuba – PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2024-09-19) PINHEIRO, Matheus Furtado; CRUZ, Fernando Manuel Rocha da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3145088339944816; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1254-5601The present research aims to understand the social, identity and educational context of the University Campus of Abaetetuba of the Federal University of Pará. The objects of study of this work are the memories and identities of the professors trained by this Higher Education Institution, who returned to this same campus in the occupation of university professors, and the relationship of these aspects with the city/ municipality of Abaetetuba. In this way, our research is characterized by the qualitative approach and use of semi-structured interviews. In this sense, adheres to the methodology of Oral History allied to inductive and deductive methods. The research corpus consists of five professors egress from the University Campus of Abaetetuba: from Pedagogy, from Language Graduation Courses of Portuguese and Spanish, and two individuals linked to the coordination of this institution, who were interviewed between november 2023 and august 2024. In the present work, we use as theoretical foundation the concepts of Memories, Collective and Individual Memory according to Pollak (1989), Halbwachs (1990) and Le Goff (1994); identities in light of theorists such as Hall (2006, 2014) and Pollak (1992); and Cities, from the perspective of theorists such as Agier (2011), Harvey (2012) and Lefebvre (2013). Thus, we realize that this Educational Institution trains individuals academically and socially and during this process, these subjects learn new knowledge, change their mentalities, discover new skills and break taboos in society. However, there are still many difficulties for the advancement of science in the municipality. The campus needs more technological resources for classrooms, investments in student transportation, research grants and new projects development. In this way, academic education can achieve even better results in the municipality of Abaetetuba.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Nas dobras da memória oficial: cidade, imagem e história na voz de rezadeiras de Capanema-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011) SILVA, Jerônimo da Silva e; PACHECO, Agenor SarrafIn Capanema, northeastern Pará, prayer women, motivated by photographs, weave historical narratives unfolding trajectories of Northeastern migrants to the city, producing conflicting representations of daily urban life. Through sensibilities woven in symbiosis of body, voice and images, the narrators produce reading practices that allow questioning the conventional writing of local history, enshrined in mental games of hundreds of residents. This article, therefore, following the methodology of oral history and dialoguing with Cultural Studies and Anthropology of Religion scholars, when comparing the reading of official images with the interpretation given by the prayers on plots and dramas on the town, under a view "from below” and popular perspective, challenge crystallized imaginary, bringing to the writing of history other experiences and cultural landscapes, commonly placed in the folds of portraits framed by the discourse of hegemonic power.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O olhar invisível: visões e narrativas de populares em situação de rua e vulnerabilidade social nos tempos de pandemia da covid-19 em Bragança-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-12) GATINHO, Erlan José; QUADROS, João Plinio Ferreira de; COSTA, Nívia Maria VieiraBecause so abrupt changes that the world is experiencing actually, through this research, some reflective notes that have become pertinent, such as inequalities, discrimination and social impacts, in addition to transformations triggered in times of pandemic, are brought to the center of the scene. of COVID-19. The general objective of the research it is based on understanding how social groups living on the streets and social vulnerability in bragantine society experience the pandemic crisis. As a methodological design, it is a qualitative research with the following procedures: participant observation, conversation circles and interpretative analysis of oral narratives. Among the results obtained, it was possible to know part of these social groups that permeate the locus of the city, as well as the multiple relations and actions that these collectives exercise, it became feasible to understand among which ways they conceive what the pandemic, quarantine and the crisis manifested in their experiences and resignificances. Epistemologically, the research is based on the concepts of Velho (1973); Lefebvre (2011); Santos (2020), Bauman and Donskis (2016), conceptual and analytical perspectives on: urban anthropology, social relations, group invisibilities and critical reflections about the COVID-19 pandemicItem Acesso aberto (Open Access) O processo de expansão urbana e seu impacto na cobertura vegetal de Macapá(Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, 2022-04) COSTA, Luciana Castro Serafim; MANESCHY, Rosana Quaresma; LOPES, Luís Otávio do CantoA growing urban population fears the need for city expansion, causing non-environmental transformations, capable of creating its own microclimate, which can form heat pipes. The purpose of this work is to analyze the urban expansion process in the Macapá Headquarters District, Capital of the State of Amapá, located in the Brazilian Amazon and the non quantitative impact of vegetation cover. The applied methodology is derived from the analysis of two popular data from 1960 to 2010, made available by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics and analysis of the growth of urban area and its non-quantitative impact of vegetation cover in the period from 1985 to 2015, using the classification Supervised by Maximum Likelihood in satellite images. The results obtained are based on the fact that from 1960 to 2010 or population increase in the State of Amapá, in order to concentrate a greater part of the population in urban areas, mainly in the Capital, it has 59.47% of the state population, being that 93% of the population of Macapá resides not district headquarters. An analysis of the images from 1985 to 2015 shows that an urban area tripled in this period, causing a decrease of 48.91% of closed and 17.13% of vegetation. The period of greatest loss occurred between the years 1985 and 1993, confirming that the vegetation cover of the Macapá headquarters district had been directly impacted by the growth of the city. Reflection on the reduction of green areas and loss of environmental quality related to the microclimatic factors performed by urban vegetation. It intends to present the existing leisure places in the city, the urban space of the capital, constituted by a central, modern territory, marked by the remnants of the Belle Époque, by the big carnival clubs and territories with derogatory characterizations. Belém emerges as a plot where the threads are intertwined by social relations, cultural practices, being a city connected by flows and refluxes of people on a daily basis, which has in its cultural manifestations, like the carnival, a landmark in the neighborhoods and, consequently, in the city. Therefore, this multiplicity of spaces in the carnival of Belém includes the transformations that Belém underwent at the end of the 19th to the 20th century. Thus, we are discussing City from the perspective of Le Goff (1988), Ferrara (1999), Avelino (2009), Arantes (1999), Correa (2010).
