Jovens negras/os e direitos às políticas públicas: oficinas do Curro Velho e empoderamentos – Belém-Pará

Abstract

The Curro Velho Workshop Center is located in the Telegráfo neighborhood and maintains an annual cycle of courses and workshops aimed at the inclusion of children, young people and the elderly, presenting itself as a tool for public cultural policies in the city of Belém and assisting in the development physical and mental through art and culture. This work aims, through the participation of black youth from the outskirts of Belém/PA in activities provided by Curro Velho, to analyze the impact that this institution had on their lives and how art and culture can intervene in the constitution of identities and forms of being in the world, therefore understanding young people as subjects of rights. Initially, we carried out bibliographical research with the intention of collecting data to understand and delve deeper into what has already been produced by other researchers on the topic and then cross-check them with field results. To this end, the methodological direction was structured based on a quantitative approach in order to understand how youth understand space. Thus, we selected four (4) young people from the institution and one (1) instructor, and carried out, through purposeful conversations, interviews focusing on their life stories, and then analyzed and evaluated, together with the theoretical basis, the social effects of access to Curro Velho on their experiences.
