Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Coordenação do comércio atacadista de pescado no mercado do ver-o-peso, em Belém-Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-09) OLIVEIRA NETO, Francisco Abraão Gomes de; DINIZ, Janaina Deane de Abreu Sa; LEITÃO, Wilma Marques; SAMPAIO, Dioniso de SouzaThe Ver-o-Peso Market, freely translated as “check-the-weight” market, is one of the main fish unloading and marketing sites in Brazil. Thirty five thousand tons of fish are unloaded yearly at the market, involving several groups of individuals, such as balanceiros, local conditioned agents who trade the local production. The present research intends to demonstrate, through Economical Sociology assumptions, the importance of balanceiros in the fish commercialization model installed at Ver-o-Peso Market. The adopted methodology included bibliographic and documental research, semi-structured interviews, direct observation, audio and video registration. The analysis of the collected information was carried out through tabulation and ranking according to the assumptions of the Economical Sociology. The results demonstrate the importance of balanceiro as the logistical commerce coordinator of the transactions that are performed in the wholesale market of fresh fish on Pedra, the commercialization at the Ver-o-Peso Market. This study offers to the sector researchers and managers a perspective based on individual and collective motivations of the individuals involved in the establishment and development of local markets, in a context that goes beyond the economical assumptions of supply and demand, in a perspective that the keyword is social embeddedness.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Imaginário, trabalho e sexualidade entre os coletores de caranguejo do salgado paraense(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-12) SILVEIRA, Flávio Leonel Abreu da; SOUZA, Camilla da SilvaIn this work we propose to discuss the relationship among imaginationy, work and sexuality, from the activities of crab pickers that live in the bragantina region, called Salgado Paraense. The aim is to link such themes to the enchanted figure that inhabits the mangroves where the people pick the crustaceans called Ataíde, as well as to discuss the sexual acts between people of the same sex, in this case, involving the masculine universe.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Pescadoras: subordinação de gênero e empoderamento(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-12) MANESCHY, Maria Cristina Alves; SIQUEIRA, Deis Elucy; ÁLVARES, Maria Luzia MirandaSince the last decade, studies on the fishing sector from a gender perspective have been growing, perceiving the ways gender constructions influence on how women and men work and face the risks linked to the recent changes that have been affecting the fishing activity. However, the related policies remain gender blind. This article discusses two main arguments. First, the silence about the women roles and places in fishing correlates to the vulnerability of many coastal communities in northern and southern countries. Second, fisherwomen movements have contributed to disrupt the status quo and to provide them access to empowerment policies, notably in relation to spaces and social rights. At the same time, their social movements aim to foster the local communities' capacities to manage their common resources, to adapt to social and environmental complexities and to promote gender equity. Empowerment process is complex and contradictory.
