Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A pesca artesanal da frota de Mosqueiro (Belém - Pará) e o uso do ambiente pela dourada (Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii-Castelnau, 1855)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2007-06-01) OLIVEIRA, Diogo Marques; ROCHA, Rossineide Martins da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4371300451793081; FRÉDOU, Flávia Lucena; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4779271407117528Considering the artisanal landing sites in the Amazon estuary, Mosqueiro Island, located in the south of the Bay of Marajó, is commercially very important and, as in nearby loading terminal (Miramar), the imminence of an environmental disaster is real. However, there is no detailed information on the fishery and the use of commercially important species, as Gilded catfish (Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii) in the region. With the objective of describing the fishing activity and the use of the region by the Gilded catfish, landings were monitored in Cajueiros Bridge (Mosqueiro) from December 2005 to November 2006. Moreover, the fishery boats were recorded using specialized log-books and trained personnel from the community. The index of relative abundance CPUE (kg/trip) was used to identify the most important species and their catch period, seasonality of the fleet, fishing sites and gross revenue. Considering the Gilded catfish, 30 individuals were obtained from commercial fishery in Mosqueiro from December 2005 to August 2006 in a bimensal basis. Individuals were weighted, measured and gonads were collected with the objective of evaluating the use of the region for reproduction. It was registered 128 fishing boats and Barcos de pequeno porte dominated followed by Canoas motorizadas. Technological differences between boats categories were observed, except in relation to boat length, mean monthly production and storage capacity. Barcos de médio porte present a greater crew and fishing days but they carry out less trips by month in relation to the others categories. Gill nets are mostly used in the area, and the mesh most frequently employed are 50, 60 e 70 mm (streched mesh size). Barcos de médio porte have larger nets when compared to others categories. The main species captured in the region are Silver croaker (Plagioscion squamosissimus), Pacora (Plagioscion surinamensis), Gilded catfish (Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii) and Yellowfin river pellona (Pellona spp.). Fleet from Cajueiros bridge fish mainly in fishing sites near the island during the catch period of the main species (May to December) moving to Marudá region during the offpeak season (January to April) following, mainly, the schools of Gilded catfish. Periods of maximum abundance was the first and the forth trimester for Canoas motorizadas and Barcos de pequeno porte respectively. The fishing sites Ponta Fina and Areia do Cotijuba showed the largest annual relative abundance with the main catch of Gilded catfish and Pacora, respectively. Gilded catfish was regular during the whole period with highest abundance in Ponta Fina and December. Pacora highest abundance was recorded in Marudá (98 kg/trip) and September. Yellowfin river pellona occurred mainly in Enseada and in June. In Mosqueiros Island, fish annual production was estimated in approximately 1.000 tons, leading to a gross revenue of R$ 3 million. Barcos de pequeno porte contributed to 42% of the total production and with 61% of the gross revenue. Silver croaker contributed to 26% of total production and Gilded catfish with 35% of the gross revenue. This species was considered the most valuable fish resource in the area. Sampled individuals measured from 27 to 100 cm total length, and individuals of 50 to 60 cm dominated. Sexual proportion favored females (1:2,2 male:female) which were most numerous for most length classes and months, except February. For this species, the area is not used for breeding but for nursery and feeding purposes. In the situation of an environmental disaster a waste of approximately 1.000 tons and R$ 3 millions for the fishery industry in Mosqueiros Island can be reported. Moreover, an accident in the area could also affect the young population of Gilded catfish causing harmful effects in a long term for catch and economy of the area.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aspectos clínico-patológicos do envenenamento experimental por Caudisona durissa em equinos(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-09-28) LOPES, Cinthia Távora de Albuquerque; BARBOSA NETO, José Diomedes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1516707357889557The clinic-pathological picture and laboratory findings in horses experimentally inoculated with the venom of Caudisona durissa terrificus (Crotalus durissus terrificus, according to the former nomenclature) are described. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the understanding of this type of snake accident in horses. The lyophilized venom was diluted into 1ml of a 0.9% saline solution and was inoculated subcutaneously into five horses, at the doses of 0.12mg/kg (one horse), 0.066mg/kg (two horses) and 0.03mg/kg (two horses). The venom caused death of the horse that had received 0.12mg/kg, and of one horse of the two that had received the dose of 0.066mg/kg. The clinical course varied from 27h27min to 52h29min. The second horse inoculated with 0.066mg/kg recovered within 12 days after inoculation. The dose of 0.03mg/kg had a course of 6 to 10 days but did not cause fatal envenomation. The clinical picture in the horses was characterized by swelling of the inoculation site and adjacent areas, by apathy and lowered head, locomotory alterations shown by dragging of the hoves on the ground, decubitus and difficulty to get up, reduction of auricular, palatal, upperlip and threat reflexes, and increase of heart and breathing frequency. The laboratory examination revealed leukocytosis and lymphocytosis in two horses. There was increase of the creatine-kinase (CK), lactic dehydrogenase (DHL) and ureia; reduction in the seric levels of calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. The time of activated partial tromboplastina (TTPA) increased in the horses that died. Post mortem findings were edema of the subcutaneous tissue at the inoculated shoulder, suffusions in the epicard of left and right heart ventricles, bladder replete with urine containing a white-yellowish sediment, and hemorrhagic areas in its mucosa. Histopatologic examination revealed the liver parenchyma with diffuse moderate vacuolation affecting predominantly the intermediate area of the hepatic lobe, and slight dilation of the sinusoides in some areas; in the kidney slight dilation of the uriniferous tubules mainly in the cortex.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação da técnica de aspiração ovocitária transvaginal (Ovum Pick Up) e produção in vitro de embriões da raça nelore (Bos taurus indicus) oriundos de doadoras com alterações da fertilidade(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2003-09-11) SOUSA, Alysson Jorge de Oliveira; OHASHI, Otávio Mitio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5547874183666459The objective of this experiment was evaluate the possibility of the use of zebu cattle females with raised genetic quality presenting problems of fertility, acquired after a program of conventional transference of embryos, as oocyte donors in a program of Ovum Pick Up and In Vitro embryo production. Sixteen females of Nelore breed (Bos taurus indicus) with average age of 11 years and 7 months, had been submitted to the same conditions of enviroment, feeding and management. These animals were removed of the program of embryo transfer due fertility problems (ovarian cysts, genital infections and some cases of repeat breedings). The animals had been divided in two groups in agreement the type of pathology: Group I (n=08) formed by animals that had presented ovarians patologies (cysts) and GROUP II (n=08) formed by animals with extra-ovarians patologies, both groups had been submitted to aspiration follicular (OPU) using two types of needles (21G ; 19G ) and pressures (55 e 70mmHg). The two groups were divided in four treatments (T1 =55/21G; T2 = 55/19G; T3 = 70/21G e T4 = 70/19G) and after oocites collection they were submitted to IVP. In this work, 149 aspirations were realised and 879 oocytes were collected (5,9 4,88) GRADE I = 16%; GRADE II = 43%; GRADE III = 21% e GRADE IV = 20%. The averages of oocytes collected in Group I were (T1 = 7,06 5,10; T2= 7,00 3,64; T3 = 10,60 6,51 and T4 = 2,78 2,59) and the second group (GROUP II) (T1 = 4,90 4,47; T2= 2,93 3,05; T3 = 6,11 4,11 and T4 = 2,70 2,00). For the averages of viable oocytes, the results had been the following ones (T1 = 4,35 3,01; T2 = 4,88 2,96; T3 = 6,87 3,91 and T4 = 1,89 1,90) for GROUP I and (T1 = 2,70 2,22; T2 = 1,92 1,98; T3 = 3,47 2,27 and T4 = 2,00 1,05) for GROUP II. In this experiment, 538 oocytes had been taken to the IVP, 161 (32,85%) of these oocytes had clived and 65 (13,26%) had resulted in Morula or Blastocysts. The statistcs analysis of the results did not demonstrate significant difference in the oocyte number of the diferent groups, caused for the suction pressure. It was observed that the type of needle is related of pressure of the vacuum bomb, the best results were finding with T3 treatment, moreover It can be observed through these findings that the best averages of oocytes collected had been gotten in the group of animals that had presented ovarians cysts (GROUP I), We concluded in this experiment that the use of OPU/IVF technique is an great option in the prolongation of the reproductive life in problems zebu cattle.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Biologia reprodutiva e crescimento do muçuã Kinosternon scorpioides (Linnaeus, 1776) em cativeiro(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006) CASTRO, Andréa Bezerra de; GUIMARÃES, Diva Anelie de Araújo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2891287458034896The data for this work was acquired in the dependences of the Zoo Botanic Park of the Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi during the years of 1992 to 1997. The objective was to study the reproductive biology and the growth of the Scorpion Mud Turtles in captivity. Thus, a verification was made of the biometrical correlations and the sexual dimorphism between males and adult females, the type of reproduction and the number of eggs per clutch, the incubation period and the percentage of eclosion, the connection between the size of the eggs and the hatching, and between the biometrical data of the female with its eggs and hatchling, the biometric growth and the weight of the species, the age when the sexual dimorphism occurs in the young ones and the age of the first oviposition. A group of adults and 70 hatching of the Zoo Botanic Park was used. Data obtained demonstrated that the adult males (n=75) had a long tail and a black pigmented head and presented an a average weight of 314,05 g, carapace length of 14,79 cm, carapace width of 9,79 cm, plastron length of 12,3 cm, plastron width of 7,46 cm and 4,5 cm of height. The adult females (n=176) had a short tail and yellow head, and had an average weight of 430,08 g, carapace length 1,26 cm, carapace width of 11,31 cm, plastron length of 13,35 cm, plastron width of 8,01 cm and 5,51 cm of height. All the studied variants showed significant differences between the values of adult females and the adult males. The mating season was from April until August, characterizing a seasonal reproduction. The nest building occurred between the months of May and September and was divided in the following phases: deambulation, opening of the hollow, oviposition, closing of the hollow and abandonment of the nest. There was no difference between the number of eggs laid by young or adult females. The average number laid by an adult female was 2,45 with a variation of 01 to 07 eggs and by a young one was 2,7 with a variation of 02 the 07 eggs. However, the eggs of the adult females were bigger in weight, length and width than that of the young females. The eggs had a pink colored elongated form, with a white spot in the center and the rind was hard and smooth (n=701), and they presented average weight, length and width of respectively 9.6 g, 3.8 cm and 2.0 cm. The incubation period was 136 days, varying between 111 and 164 (n=426) and an eclosion of 86,61%. The carapace weight, the width, and the width of the plastron of the females were determinative for the weight and width of the eggs. The weight and width of the eggs were determinative for the weight, carapace length and plastron length of the newborn. The young (n=887) were born with an average weight of 6,5 g, carapace length of 3,1 cm, carapace width of 2,2 cm, the plastron length of 2,7 cm, plastron width of 1,8 cm and carapace height of 1,6 cm. The weight and measures of the female were determinative for the weight, and measures of the newborn. At 22,49 months of age, there appeared the first signals of sexual dimorphism. The species showed a positive correlation between the weight and the biometric length, width and hight until the 37,95 months of age, after that age the ponderal continued to increase while the rate of increase of the length was smoother. With 37,94 months the standard deflexion of the ponderal weight was the largest seen on all ages, probably as the result of the sexual dimorphism already present at this age. At this age it was seen the first oviposition of the group that had a carapace with 11,84 cm of length. At 47.02 month the group showed an average weight of 410,9 g and 14,15 carapace length, values similar to the ones found in the studied adult animals.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Características e índices produtivos de muçuãs (Kinosternon scorpioides) em cativeiro na ilha de Marajó, Amazônia, Brasil(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-02-29) COSTA, Juliane da Silva; MARQUES, José Ribamar Felipe; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0104908318773676Historically, chelonians have played an important role as a natural resource as human food in the region, notably Kinosternon scorpioides specie or scorpion mud turtle, locally known as muçuã which has been suffering a gradual imbalance caused by inordinate catch. We aimed to evaluate the indexes of productive characteristics, at different stages of breeding, and the reproductive characteristics of copulation, ovarian activity and hatching of muçuãs in captivity, aiming better activity through an adequate zootechnical handling. The study was done between 2007 and 2015, when we analyzed 84 copulations, 742 ovarian activity and 1,979 births for reproductive evaluations, 1,835 animals in captivity, 921 animals for reproduction, and 3,614, among males and females for reproductive evaluations grown in captivity at Criatório Científico of Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, Marajó Island -PA. In the reproductive characteristic analyses the results showed that the reproductive period is seasonal, concentrating couplings during the rainy season, when the average coupling activity consisted of 00:23:00 h, with proportion male: female of 2,38 + 1,67. The egg formation process took 122,98 + 45,38 days. The egg laying distribution presented a climax tendency between the end of June and early August. Nidification average duration was 02:57:00 h. The egg viability found was 20%. The correlation results between the biometric, weight, and number of eggs characteristics were positive. The egg biometrical results were 34,5 mm long, and 18 mm wide, with average weight of 7,90 g. The average duration of incubation, in days, was 129.31 + 19.57. Births concentrated between September and December. The correlations of biometric characteristics with the hatchlings weight were positive between the variables (P≤0,0001). For the productive characteristics the weights were obtained for all zootechnical categories where the hatchlings in the nesting area, with approximately 12 months of age, weighed 199.20 + 45,36 g and the adult above 36 months, had an average weight of 503.63 + 73.21 g. The correlations between weight and body measurements were significant As (P≤00001) for all categories. The results of influence of morphometric measurements over weight for all categories were significant (P≤0.0005). For weight and body measurement analyses under the influence of the season of the year we observed that the variables were significant (P≤00005), except for reproduction. For reproduction, weight and body measurements were evaluated considering the influence of sex, when it was observed that females had more than males, but males were longer than females. The characteristics of coupling, incubation period, and hatching permit to delineate a reproductive handling for raisin the specie in captivity under the conditions of Marajó Island. Research directed toward biology, nutrition, and handling of muçuãs must be encouraged to increase production ex situ, providing greater subsidies for the establishment of systems of production that meet commercial demand by promoting conservation and increase of variability of the specie.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Comparação entre o TRIS, Lactose/TRIS, Ringer-Lactato e Leite Desnatado como diluidores na criopreservação do sêmen bubalino(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-02-29) MIYASAKI, Michel Yoshio Almeida; VALE, William Gomes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7486151987920142The objective of this experiment was to test the effectiveness of different extenders, the basis of Ringer Lactate, Skim Milk, TRIS (hydroxymethyl-amino-methil Methan) and Lactose/TRIS, the cryopreservation of buffalo semen. We used three male Murrah buffaloes in full sexual activity. The semen was collected by artificial vagina total of 71 ejaculates. After harvest, each sample was subjected to qualitative and quantitative analyzes of semen. The ejaculates were split and diluted in four extenders. The diluted semen was stored in straws of 0,25 mL and subjected to an equilibration time of up to four hours at 5°C, with subsequent freezing in liquid nitrogen. The identified samples were thawed in a water bath at a temperature of 40°C for 30 seconds and subsequently evaluated for motility, vigor, acrosome damage, and percentage of sperm pathologies. The samples were also tested with heat-resistance, while remaining incubated at 40°C for 30 seconds, 3-5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours, which were evaluated for motility and spermatic . The physico-chemical, after fresh semen analysis, were within the prescribed values for buffaloes and satisfactory for the freezing process. After thawing the semen, observed numerical reduction (p<0,05) in sperm motility, with fresh semen was found 86,67±6,17% decreasing to 70±6,92% in TRIS, 67,4±8,01% in Ringer/lactate, 67,09±9,03% in Lactose/TRIS and 59,7±9,05% in skim milk and to compare between the four treatments only the skimmed milk showed a statistically significant difference (p<0,05). After thawing, spermatic vigor also decreased significantly (p<0,05) in four treatments (3,50±0,53 TRIS, 3,38±0,49 Ringer's lactate, 3,3±0,46 Lactose/TRIS and 3,25±0,44 Skim milk) versus (4±0,39 fresh semen) and when comparing between treatment, only between skimmed milk and TRIS was no statistical difference (p<0,05). As for the larger defects (4,15±1,9% fresh semen; 10,51±4,4% TRIS, 11,94±4,2% Ringer's lactate, 11,88±4,8% Lactose/TRIS; 12,01±5% skim milk), smaller (3,81±1,2% fresh semen and 4,67±1,1% TRIS, 4,98±1,7% Ringer's lactate, 4,93±2,0% Lactose/TRIS, 4,93±2,0% skimmed milk) and total (7,91±2,1% fresh semen; 15,18±4,7% TRIS, 16,92±4,8% Ringer's lactate, 16,82±5,6% Lactose/TRIS, 17,11±5,6% skimmed milk), after thawing showed a significant increase of defects in the four treatments (p<0,05), and among them were not statistically different between groups (p>0,05). In the post-TTR after 3 hours of incubation, progressive motility (21,13±7,5% TRIS; Ringer lactate 20,78±7,4%; Lactose/TRIS 20,25±5,3%; Skimmed milk 20,12±6,6%) and spermatic vigor (TRIS 2,04±0,5, Ringer Lactate 2,07±0,5, Lactose/TRIS 2,02±0,4, 2 skim milk, 2,00±0,5) showed no statistical difference between treatments (p<0,05). As for intergridade acrosome after thawing (semen in natura 97,85,±0,6%; TRIS 91,65±4,3%, Ringer-Lactate 90,46±4,8%; Lactose/TRIS 89,76±5,4%; Skimmed milk 90,56±5,6%), decreased (p<0,05) and when comparing this parameter between treatments was not observed statistically significant differences between the treatment (p>0,05). Given the observed results we conclude that the freezing of buffalo semen extenders with TRIS (Tris-hydroxy-methyl-amino-Methan), Ringer Lactate, Lactose / TRIS and skimmed milk showed satisfactory function in cryoprotection of sperm viability semen in different stages of cryopreservation.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Criopreservação do sêmen de macaco-prego (Sapajus apella Linnaeus, 1758): avaliação de diferentes diluidores, concentração de glicerol e antioxidante catalase(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-02-24) LEÃO, Danuza Leite; DOMINGUES, Sheyla Farhayldes Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2794753357251149The main objective of the present study was to establish an efficient semen cryopreservation protocol in Sapajus apella for maintaining sperm viability. For this, we compared the performance of TES-TRIS, CWS and ACP-118® extenders during the seminal coagulum dissolution and cooling. Then, in order to improve the sperm parameters, we also determined the glycerol concentration (3; 5 and 7%) as well as to evaluate the effect of catalase antioxidant (10 µg and 50 µg). Therefore, six adult males of S. apella from the National Primate Center were used. Semen was collected by electro-ejaculation with rectal probe after chemical restraint of animals with ketamine and xylazine hydrochloride. In the first phase of the project, the semen obtained was diluted in TES- TRIS, CWS and ACP®-118 extenders, kept in a water bath at 37 °C. After coagulum dissolution, the semen was cooled in the refrigerator at 4 °C for 90 minutes and evaluated after 28h for motility, vigor and plasma membrane integrity percentage before and after the cooling. ACP®-118 was the best extender to preserve the motility sperm and plasma membrane integrity after 28 hours of incubation. Based on these results, cryopreservation was performed by evaluation of different concentrations of glycerol (3, 5, and 7%). The cryopreserved sperm to 3% glycerol had better results. In the second project phase was performed S. apella semen cryopreservation in ACP®-118 extender supplemented or not with catalase antioxidant (10 µg/mL and 50 µg /mL). All treatments were effective in maintaining sperm parameters and was possible to recovery the post-thaw motility. The catalase 50 treatment was the best for maintenance of the vigor after cooling and plasma membrane integrity in post-thaw sperm. So, we concluded that ACP-118® extender can be efficiently used for S. apella semen cryopreservation added 3% glycerol, moreover, the addition of the catalase antioxidant showed beneficial effect during this process.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Determinação de parâmetros para a avaliação de carcaça em bubalinos machos no Estado do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006-04-04) SEIXAS, Vitória Nazaré Costa; ARAÚJO, Cláudio Vieira de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5049897507837031; CARDOSO, Elyzabeth da Cruz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8805703740727765This work had as objective to create a protocol for identification of carcass’ quality of male buffalo abated at the Pará State. For this purpose, the work was conducted in two stages. Firstly, were utilized 174 animals for the creation and implementation of the age identification protocol throughout the development of the incisive teeth pairs and the linear measures of hindquarters and height of anterior part, thoracic perimeter and body length. The second stage was the ratification of the preestablished protocol inserted on the evaluation of carcass characteristics through the cold and hot carcass efficiency plus five other typical parameters using 76 abated animals. Was noted the absence of the deciduous corner (fourth pair) in the animals from zero to three months. These corners were definitively noted between three and six months. From six months the incisive deciduous teeth are all presents and established. At the 24th month started the change of the “tweezers” (first tooth pair). Between the 30th and 50th month occurred the change second and third teeth pairs and from the 55th month the change of the fourth teeth pair. From the 55th to the 100th month the animals showed established all incisive permanent teeth. The live weight showed a positive and significant correlation with the linear measures. From the 25,7th to the 30th month was a reduction on the growth tax in consequence of the puberty and development of the fat layer. From 18th there was not significant difference on the carcass characteristics except in relation to the shoulder blade. Thus, we conclude that the beginning of the “tweezers” teeth change is the ideal age for abate where there is the coincidence of the reduction of growth tax and fat layer deposition in the carcass.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Determinação dos níveis de fósforo, cobre, cobalto e zinco em bubalinos criados nos municípios de Soure, Salvaterra, Breves e Cachoeira do Arari, na ilha de Marajó, estado do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010-05-31) PINHEIRO, Cleyton Prado; BARBOSA NETO, José Diomedes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1516707357889557We studied 104 buffaloes, adults, without distinction of race and sex, reared extensively, without supplementation, in native pastures of low nutritional quality, in the municipalities of Breves, Cachoeira do Arari, Salvaterra and Soure, Marajo Island, Pará. Held collection of liver, bone and blood of 26 animals in the municipality of Salvaterra, 38 animals in the municipality of Soure, 20 animals in the municipality of Breves and 20 animals in the municipality of Cachoeira do Arari. Determination was performed to determine the levels of phosphorus in the blood serum and bone ash and specific gravity on bone and cobalt, copper and zinc in liver tissue. It was observed that the average phosphorus concentrations in blood serum (6.26 mg/dl) and bone (10.77 %), the percentage of ash (60.87 %) and specific gravity (1.59 g/ml) of bone were lower than the critical levels established for cattle, characterizing phosphorus deficiency. The average concentrations of copper (5.57 ppm) and zinc (27.05 ppm) was considered low when compared with reference values, characterizing disability for these elements. In the case of cobalt when considering the values detectable and undetectable by the methodology it was observed that 51.92% of the animals had levels below the reference, indicating the occurrence of cobalt deficiency in these animals. It is emphasized that the deficiencies of copper and zinc showed a more severe since all animals studied showed low levels of these elements.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Diagnóstico da paratuberculose em bovinos de corte do estado do Pará - Brasil(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2005-04-01) SILVA, Érica Bandeira da; DIAS, Hilma Lúcia Tavares; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4501155453484456514 blood samples from beef cattle were examined of to find anti- M. avium (subsp.) paratuberculosis antibodies, using commercial ELISA test kit. The animals from samples were all compous from cross between Indicus x Taurus race, between male and female, with two age class, over 36 months old and below 36 months old, from of the 23 municipality of Para State. Also were collected 100 samples of small intestine and mesenteric lymph nodes of bacteriological test through Ziehl-Neelsen method to detect the M. avium (subsp.) paratuberculosis. Were at random collected in slaughterhouse of Belem. In ELISA test, through these 514 samples, 182 (35,4%) were seropositive and 332 (64,6%) samples were seronegative. All the middle region were found soropositives animals. The female with over 36 months old presented larger response test, of the 92,06% seropositives animals. Among male the prevalency larger (76,79%,) were obtained between the most new, with below 36 months old. Of 100 samples stained through Ziehl-Neelsen method, not were found either Mycobacterium spp.. The conclusion, is the biggest number of seropositive animals of anti- M. avium (subsp.) paratuberculosis sign of disease is presented in all the regions studied, watching the risks of this disease with the elaborate more covering stud ies about the paratuberculosis with the appling of directs and indirects diagnosis methods.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Efeito da salinidade e da frequência alimentar durante a larvicultura dos ornamentais amazônicos acará bandeira Pterophyllum scalare (SCHULTZE, 1823) e acará severo Heros severus (HECKEL, 1840)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-07-21) EIRAS, Bruno José Corecha Fernandes; VERAS, Galileu Crovatto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4497651649653210; COSTA, Rauquírio André Albuquerque Marinho da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4504677939464624With the study aimed to evaluate the effect of salinity and feeding frequency on growth, uniformity and survival of the angelfish Pterophyllum scalare and banded cichlid post-larvae. Were conducted two experiments in a completely randomized in a factorial 5 x 2, with five different sodium chloride concentrations (0; 2; 4; 6 and 8 g L-1) and two feed frequency (2 and 4 times per day). It was observed the water salinity and feeding frequency influenced significantly (p < 0,05) in torso length and body height in the angelfish larviculture. The eye diameter, was affected (p < 0,05) only by salinity, while the final standard length, standard length gain, head length, torso length, post-anal length, head height, body height, final weight, weight gain, specific growth rate and allometric condition factor differed significantly (p < 0,05) only for the feeding frequency. In the banded cichlid larviculture, there was a significant difference (p < 0,05) in the head length, post-anal length, head height and allometric condition factor by salinity and feeding frequency. The water salinity influenced significantly (p < 0,05) the final standard length, standard length gain, torso length, eye diameter, body height, survival hate and uniformity in weight. The feeding frequency influenced significantly (p < 0,05) the final weight, weight gain and specific growth rate. It was concluded that angelfish post-larvae can be grown with salinity up to 4 g L-1 without problems for the development and survival. On the other hand, the banded cichlid post-larvae had better survival hate in water without salt add. The feeding frequency of four times a day with artemia nauplii is the most recommended for the both species.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Efeitos de dietas suplementadas com vitamina e sobre o crescimento, eficiência alimentar e parâmetros hematológicos e fisiológicos do tambaqui Colossoma macropomum (CUVIER, 1818)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016) ALVES, Adriana Xavier; SILVA, Evaldo Martins da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6649371901290988; VERAS, Galileu Crovatto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4497651649653210The vitamin E inclusion in fish food is related to improvements in in growth performance and nonspecific immune response for different species. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of different vitamin E levels (DL acetate-α-tocopherol, 50% active) on productive performance, hematological variables, hematometric index and physiological parameters of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) fingerlings. A total of 150 fishes with an average weight of 2.94 ± 0.14 g and initial average standard length of 4.29 ± 0.07 cm were distributed in aquariums (300 L) in water recirculation system, temperature of 27.13 ± 0.45 ºC, pH 7.16 ± 0.45, dissolved oxygen 7.15 ± 0.88 mg L-1, electronical conductivity 0.142 ± 0.05 (μs cm-1); ammonia 0.00 ± 0.00 (ppm) and nitrite 0.19 ± 0.25 mg L-1. The stocking density was 10 fishes per experimental unity. The inclusion levels of α-tocopherol in the diet were 0, 250, 700 and 1,000 mg kg-1. Thus, was used a completely randomized design with five treatments and three repetitions, where the fishes were fed three times a day during 90 days. The results indicate that the different vitamin E levels did not affect the productive performance of tambaqui fingerlings. However, the inclusion of 1,000 mg kg-1 of α-tocopherol reduced (P<0.05) the glucose amount in comparison to the supplemented treatments with 0 and with 250 mg kg-1. The hematocrit, total protein, erythrocytes number and hematometric index of tambaqui fingerlings were not affected (P>0.05) by α-tocopherol supplementation. In differential leukocyte count, there was no significant difference of lymphocyte number, monocytes and basophiles. However, the neutrophil number was greater in the control treatment (P>0.05), while eosinophil and specials granulocytic cells were better than control treatment (P<0.05), while the eosinophils number was special granulocytic cells was higher than treatments with 700 mg kg-1 and 250 mg kg-1 of α-tocopherol, respectively. Although vitamin E supplementation in the diet did not influence the productive performance of tambaqui fingerlings, the fishes fed diet nonsupplemented showed increased of neutrophils number, demonstrating greater susceptibility of these fishes to inflammation process.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Estudo das deficiências minerais em vacas em lactação da bacia leiteira do município de Rondon do Pará, estado do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-12-10) BOMJARDIM, Henrique dos Anjos; BARBOSA NETO, José Diomedes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1516707357889557We conducted a study of mineral deficiencies in lactating cows from dairy herds belonging to 13 properties of the milk basin of Rondon do Pará, in the state of Pará. We determined the levels of phosphorus (P), specific gravity and percentage of ash in the bone and levels of copper (Cu), cobalt (Co), selenium (Se), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) in the liver of 47 dairy cows in lactation 2. These samples were collected by means of biopsies performed in the top third of the 12th rib on the right side and the caudal edge of the caudate lobe of the liver, respectively. The herds were composed of crossbred (Holstein x Zebu), kept in extensive production system on Brachiaria brizantha cv Marandu and received mineral supplementation. The mineral mixture in 12 properties were commercial type, called "full" and the owners added a quantity of salt above the manufacturer's recommendations in ten properties. In addition, the mineral mixtures were provided in troughs without covering in seven properties and in other eight, the providing of the mineral mix was not performed daily. In 11 properties there were clinical histories consistent with mineral deficiencies in livestock and placenta retention and osteophagia were the most frequently reported ones. The results of chemical analysis showed deficiency in P in five properties, in Co in two properties, in Se in eight properties, in Zn in eight properties. It is concluded that the deficiency of P, Se and Zn occurs in a greater proportion and the deficiency of Co occurs in a lesser proportion and the mineral supplementation performed in the properties do not supply the daily demands of P, Se and Co, based on the estimated daily consumption of 30 g of NaCl per animal and the troughs little adequate or inadequate for proper supplementation, as well as inconstant supply of mineral mixtures contribute to the deficiency of one or more minerals.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Estudo de uma alimentação proteica para Melipona flavolineata (Hymenoptera: Apidae)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015) TEIXEIRA, Joyce Caroline da Silva; MENEZES, Cristiano; DOMINGUES, Felipe Nogueira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1461187309835749The stingless bee keeping has been improved considerably in the last years and, consequently, the demand for colonies has increased. However, the breeding techniques still need to be improved to reach the necessary production scale. The feeding system is one of the issues that must be studied and improved, because long periods of low availability of food resources constraint the production of new colonies. The present study aimed to test an artificial diet to replace the pollen for Melipona flavolineata. It was investigated the nutritional composition of their natural food (stored pollen) and of the artificial diet (based on soybean extract). The effect of the artificial diet was tested at the survival and size of brood and longevity of adult workers. The artificial diet presented a different nutritional composition compared to the stored pollen. It was richer in carbohydrates and lipids, but poorer in proteins. However, this difference did not affect the survival and size of brood and longevity of adult workers, but not drastically. It is recommended to reduce the amount of sugar and to add new ingredients with higher protein content in future diets. The diet based on soybean extract showed to be a good substitute for pollen, but not perfect. Small changes can be adressed based on the results of the present contribution to reach an artificial diet with better quality.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Etnoconhecimento do peixe-boi amazônico (Trichechus inunguis): uso tradicional por ribeirinhos na Reserva Extrativista Tapajós Arapiuns e Floresta Nacional do Tapajós, Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2007-03-16) AGUILAR, Carla Verônica Carrasco; GUIMARÃES, Diva Anelie de Araújo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2891287458034896Hunting is practiced by rural Amazonian populations, as much for subsistence as for commercial purposes. By interacting directly with nature, Amazonians have some understanding of the environment, as well as the autochthonous species they hunt. The Amazon manatee (Trichechus inunguis) is an animal traditionally utilized by riverine people, despite being protected by law since 1967. The main objectives of this document was: 1 – to analyze the use of the Amazonian manatee in the Tapajós Arapiuns Extractive Reserve (RESEX T/A) and in the Tapajós National Forest (FLONA Tapajós), according to the traditional knowledge of riverine people; 2 - to characterize the level of social organization of the communities as a way of assessing the feasibility of establishing sustaintable alternatives of animal production. Two expeditions were undertaken to gather the required information from the margins of the Tapajós River (2002) and the Arapiuns River (2003) (Pará State, Brazil), on the borders of the aforementioned Protected Areas (PAs). Prepared questionnaires were given to 189 interviewees. The principal occupation of those interviewed was agriculture (n = 103 interviewees). According to the responses, one or two manatees, on average, are sighted during the flood season by each respondent, and in this same period the females are often seen with their young. The manatee is sighted as much in the Tapajós River (41.57%, n = 74) as in the lakes of the same region (47.19%, n = 84), while in the Arapiuns River communities, reports indicate a greater number of sightings in the river (56.56%, n = 56) than in the lakes (30.30%, n = 30). Forty nine respondents from the 2 study areas admitted that they have hunted manatees. In RESEX T/A, 46.34% (n = 19) of these respondents hunted only for subsistence, while in FLONA Tapajós 50% (n = 4) of hunting was reported to be for commerce and 37.5% (n = 3) for subsistence. It is important to note, however, that the number of respondents in FLONA Tapajós was too low to establish a clear pattern of utilization of the manatee in these communities. In both PAs, 92.59% (n = 175) of the hunters knew about the law prohibiting hunting of manatees, and in 46.33% (n = 101) of these cases, IBAMA was the primary information source. Regarding hunting equipment, the harpoon club is the most commonly used implements. Manatees are hunted primarily for food, with three types of meat being extracted from the animal. In traditional medicine, manatee fat is used primarily in cases of rheumatism (22.75%, n = 43). Together, the 2 PAs have approximately 26,000 inhabitants. Offering sustainable food, work and income alternatives could improve the difficult realities faced by these communities. Historically, there has been a struggle for land ownership and improved quality of life in the PAs. Accordingly, 86.77% of the RESEX and 68% of the FLONA communities belong to associations for community development. Both PAs have been involved with community projects, although limitations still exist in some communities, such as the lack of continuous technical assistance or a stronger involvement on the part of the communities. These factors represent an important limitation in implementing productive activities within the context of sustainable development.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Intoxicação por Ipomoea spp. em ruminantes na Ilha de Marajó(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2009-02-09) TORTELLI, Fábio Py; RIVERO, Gabriela Riet Correa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7540534565167837Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Lesões traumáticas na pele causadas pelos espinhos de Mimosa pudica e Mimosa debilis em equídeos(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-02-24) REIS, Alessandra dos Santos Belo; BARBOSA NETO, José Diomedes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1516707357889557We studied traumatic injury of the skin in horses caused by traumatic plants, popularly known as "sleep-mary", "Poppy", "scraper", "malice" and "do not touch me". The study was conducted on a farm in the district of Castanhal, northeastern of the state of Para, where there were technical visits, epidemiological study, blood samples, biopsies of affected skin and collection of plants. The study included 25 horses, 14 males and 11 females, aged between six months and eight years. The pasture consisted of Brachiaria humidicola and was heavily invaded by traumatizing plants. The animals showed ulcerative lesions of irregular borders, on the head (nose, muzzle, upper and lower lips and chamfer), oral cavity (buccal vestibule and gum) and limbs (billets, metacarpals and metatarsals and scapular-humeral joint). The histopathological examination revealed foci of cutaneous erosions, characterized by loss and epidermal necrosis with spongiosis and vesicular degeneration of the remaining epidermis and mild inflammatory infiltrate in the underlying dermis, consisting predominantly of macrophages and, to a lesser degree, eosinophils. We identified two plants, Mimosa pudica and Mimosa debilis, both from the Leguminosae Mimosoideae family. Based on these results we can conclude that the skin lesions were caused by the traumatic action of Mimosa pudica and Mimosa debilis.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Manejo de Scaptotrigona Sp. This study aimed to manage a Scaptotrigona species to improve pollination in rambutan trees (Nephelium lappaceum L.). The first chapter analysed the phenological development (flowering and fruit phases) in rambutan crop. Two blossom periods per year were identified. The average cycle duration (from anthesis to harvest fruit point) was 123-128 days. The objective of the second chapter was evaluate the effect of Scaptotrigona sp. nests in rambutan fruit set. There were not significantly differences on rambutan fruit set upon bee presence or absence, although Scaptotrigona sp. presented high index of pollen fidelity to rambutan. The last chapter focused on a specific question about stingless beekeeping. It was tested whether a rational hive model (Embrapa) was better than a traditional hive (cabocla) for Scaptotrigona sp. management, by evaluating certain aspects, such as biological adaptation and management, . It was found that the studied hive (Embrapa) is a suitable model to rational creation of Scaptotrigona.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Mastite bovina em rebanhos leiteiros no município de Parauapebas, mesorregião sudeste do estado do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2008-03-11) BARROS, Bruno de Cássio Veloso de; FREITAS, José de Arimatéa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2382745365421156The mastite in its subclinica form is the responsible one for the biggest losses of milk production representing raised economic damages. The captive breeding on a commercial basis is essential to oppose poaching and thus prevent the extinction of species. A greater Knowledge of nutritional requirements, regarding to minerals, can serve as a basis to formulate diets for turtles, as alternatives to correct deficiencies of these compounds in the feed provided in captivity. Therefore this study aimed to determine the calcium levels in the initial phase and growth and the relationship between calcium and phosphorus levels in adult phase of muçuãs (Kinosternon scorpioides). In the initial phase and growth the experimental design was fully randomized, with five levels of calcium (4.7, 5.2, 5.7, 6.2 e 6.7%), with phosphorus in 3%, with three repetitions, containing 4 and 2 animals per experimental unit, respectively. In the adult phase, the experimental design was fully randomized in factorial scheme 5x3, five levels of calcium (5.0, 5.7, 6.4, 7.1 e 7.7%) and three levels of Phosphorus (2.6, 3.0, e 3.4 %), with three repetitions containing three animals per experimental unit. The animals were submitted to weighing and biometrics fortnightly. The data were analyzed using regression analysis by response surface. In the initial phase the variation in calcium levels did not influence the variables response, being absorbed and diverted to the strengthening of the bony parts. In the growth phase, the absorbed calcium was destined to corporal development of muçuãs, recommending the levels of 5.7% Calcium (Ca) with 3.0% of Phosphorus (P). Confirmed the Calcium and Phosphorus relation maintaining the best performance at the levels of 1,92 ± 0,26 to 2.08 ± 0,18 Ca:P, it was recommended level of 5,0% Ca e 2,6% P in the adult phase. This study is pioneer to determine levels of minerals in the diet of the species Kinosternon scorpioides bred in captivity, making up necessary more researches to determine others nutritional requirements of these animals, encouraging and enabling its commercial creation.
