    Análise da relação entre qualidade de vida no trabalho, comprometimento organizacional e a intenção de permanecer na organização a partir da percepção dos servidores de uma instituição de ensino superior pública

    The multidimensional needs of employees can directly impact their choice to stay or leave the organization they are a part of; therefore, investing in quality of work life has become an advantageous strategy to improve working conditions, retain employees, and foster the expected organizational performance. The present study aimed to analyze the perception of employees in a public higher education institution (HEI) regarding "Quality of Work Life" (QWL) and its relationship with "Intention to Stay in the Organization" (IS), with this relationship mediated by "Organizational Commitment" (OC). A theoretical study was carried out on the selected constructs, with the creation of research hypotheses. Methodologically, the research has a descriptive and quantitative approach, with path analysis through structural equation modeling. Data were obtained from a questionnaire composed of 45 items, with 148 respondents. The results confirmed only 4 out of 15 formulated hypotheses, namely that only the QWL dimensions of "Training and Development" and "Job Satisfaction" demonstrated significant value in predicting the intention to stay, with the mediation of organizational commitment in the relationship also confirmed. Thus, it is concluded that employees who perceive quality of life in the work environment are more likely to stay in the organization, which can positively affect organizational performance. This study contributes academically to the Brazilian literature that has a shortage of investigations of these variables through structural equation modeling, and practically to strategic management by highlighting the importance of quality of work life and organizational commitment in talent retention. The main limitations of this study include the use of a convenience sample and a low response rate.

    Engajamento e autoeficácia entre estudantes de administração: um estudo com equações estruturais

    The academic performance of students arouses strong interest from educational institutions, professionals in the field and governments, a condition that highlights studies on self-efficacy and academic engagement. Self-efficacy refers to self-assessment regarding one's own abilities to achieve goals, while academic engagement expresses a positive behavior of satisfaction related to learning characterized by vigour, dedication and absorption. Considering these aspects, the objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between engagement in studies and self-efficacy in Business Administration students linked to Federal State Education Institutions in the state of Pará. For that, an exploratory and descriptive survey was carried out with non-probabilistic sampling for accessibility with 417 respondents. Data collection was online and data processing used structural equation modeling (PLSSEM). The results confirmed the positive and significant relationships between engagement and self-efficacy and the conclusions recommend strategies to increase students' self-efficacy and engagement through teacher training and encouragement to the development of new teaching-learning methodologies. Future research can expand the investigation to other courses and institutions and employ qualitative data processing techniques.

    Expansão da educação superior no Pará: programas Expandir e Reuni e a composição de quadros docente dos campi da Universidade Federal do Pará (2001-2010)

    The Higher Education expansion through federal public universities it’s the main opinion of MEC expressed in two programs created by The Lula government: Programa de Expansão da Educação Superior Pública/EXPANDIR (2003-2006) and Programa de Apoio a Planos de Expansão e Reestruturação de Universidades Federais/REUNI – 2007/2012. This present work intends to analyse the implementation of these policies within the Federal University of Pará as subsidies to ensure the expansion policy of IES, based on the philosophy multicampi university and the notion of regional vocations. Assist us in interpreting the authors: Santos (2010), Trigueiro (2003), Dourado (2002) Fialho (2005), Freitas (2005), Yu and Façanha (2011), Lima (2011) Souza and Shibata (2011), and others. The text presents the scenario of higher education policy between 80’s decade and 2010. Explain about the course of multicampi policy construction at UFPA and seeks to establish the relationship between the adoption of this management philosophy and the growth and composition of the teaching staff of the campus. It analyzes the internal processes of management and decision in this complex university organization and structured as a professional bureaucracy, evidenced by the choices and directions taken by their leaders in the conduct of macro policies of the MEC to organize / structure the teaching staff of their academic of the regional unities (the campi). This analysis identifies an inequity in the distribution of vacancies for effective teachers at the UFPA campuses, the result of an organizational strategy, decisions and choices - based on the philosophy of expanding regional economic vocations - who chose to invest in some priority over other campuses. Policy initiated in 1998 on the lines of action for III Projeto Norte de Interiorização 1998-2001 (III PNI) and culminated in the distribution of resources in Programas EXPANDIR and REUNI.

    This research aims to identify what the function of the University Extension to degree of UFPA’s Bachelor of Law, having as a case study the Núcleo de Assessoria Jurídica Universitária Popular “Aldeia Kayapó” (NAJUPAK). To achieving it, we describe, briefly, the pattern of universitary institution, principally of the University Extension to verify what kind of university extension was contitute historically into the degree of UFPA’S Bachelor of Law. Then, we analyse the extension activity of Bachelor of Law as praxis, to explore the praxis of NAJUPAK. The procedure to gather datas is based in the documental research, principally books and papers that support at the path of dissertation, in the official documents that rule de University Extension (laws, management reports, etc.), in analysis of extension program selected. The research is based also in interviews made with subjects that belong to NAJUPAK during their degrees. This datas are confronted with theoretical background and with datas collected documentally. We see that NAJUPAK was a counterpoint in relation to formation at UFPA’s Law. While the “official” curriculum is constitute by stanch juridical disciplines of positivism, the NAJUPAK allowed to Bachelors unique educative experiences, evoking subjects, authors and methodologies of teaching.

    Financiamento Coletivo Audiovisual Universitário : Uma reflexão a partir da realização do longa-metragem A Besta Pop

    This paper analyzes the use of crowdfunding by undergraduate students in cinema, audiovisual and related fields as a creative alternative for making projects viable, proposing a reflection based at the personal experience of making the feature film A Besta Pop (2018). At first, I present the process of building the movie from its origin to its various exhibitions, drawing a parallel between the market's production model and the adaptations made in the university environment of the film, using Aída Marques (2007), Chris Rodrigues (2007) and Jose Quesada (1996) as a theoretical framework. Then, I draw an overview of the characteristics of crowdfunding, as a financial way of the practices of collective constructions that take place in the virtual environment, known as crowdsourcing, drawing on the theoretical scope of Vanessa Valiati (2012; 2013) and Scott Steinberg and Russell DeMaria (2012), among others. To do so, I analyze the mechanisms present in the Catarse platform, presenting the data survey of projects that identified themselves as university, hosted on the platform between the years 2016 to 2018, in order to understand the profile of projects and proponents. In this sense, I try to understand the movement of crowdfunding in the context of the creative economy, proposing a reading of creativity in the performance of the audiovisual producer, based on John Howkins (2007), Richard Florida (2012), Mariana Madeira (2014), among others, as references to reflect on the challenges posed by social, economic and political issues in the audiovisual activity

    A gestão universitária: um estudo na UFPA, de 2001 a 2011

    The research hereby presented had as its main objective and focus the university management in the Federal University of Para - UFPA (State of Para, Brazil), with emphasis to participation and autonomy in the process of institutional decision-making within the context of the reform of the State, in the years 2001 through 2011. It consisted of a case study that departed from the premise that, within the context of neoliberal reforms and by means of rules and regulations both national and international, the model of managerialism is being spread throughout the institutions of the social sectors, such as the universities, which takes place under internal consent and according to guidelines that approximate them to the market, causing participation to be restricted to collegiate and autonomy to be devalued. In UFPA, actions of the Superior Councils such as reformulation of legal framework, planning processes, election of directors, among others, have been adjusted to the principles underlying the guidelines mentioned above, and thereby university management is being remodeled. The method of dialectical historical materialism was used in order to analyze the conflicts and contradictions present in the model of management adopted by UFPA. The data were gathered in a number of sources, namely minutes, regiments and resolutions of the institution as well as in Brazilian legislation and documents issued by international organizations. Also, semi-structured interviews with nine subjects and direct observation of the meetings of the Councils were conducted, from September/2010 through September/2011. Analysis was carried on regarding: - theoretical conceptions of management and its transposition to the educational sector within the context of the capitalist society; - the model of managerialist management and its relation to the neoliberal reforms of the State as well as of Higher Education, departing from regulations issued by the federal government in accordance to the international organizations; - the main conflicts inherent to the university management, in UFPA, with emphasis to the statutory reformulation, the choice of directors, and the institutional planning process; - the materialization of the university management through the actuation of the UFPA Superior Councils. Results indicate that the model of management founded upon the principles of managerialism has been adopted in UFPA being consented by the Superior Councils and expressed in the processes of elaboration of the new Statute of UFPA, the Plan of Institutional Development (PDI), and the Program for the Support to Plans of Restructure and Expansion of Federal Universities (REUNI); in the choice of the major administrators; and in the actuation of the Superior Councils. Such aspects demonstrate the relation to the guidelines and regulations issued by the neoliberal State and international organizations, and indicate a model of management that, on the one side, does not allow for collective participation while restricts the UFPA institutional autonomy, and on the other, promotes distancing from debate and from the implementation of an emancipatory project.

    Os herdeiros de Ananse: movimento negro, ações afirmativas, cotas para negros na universidade

    Ananse, the metamorphosis in spider of Goddess Aranã, coming from fanthi-ashanti culture, of Benin Region, in East Africa, is shown, in this paper, as the symbol metaphor of the resistance actions carried out by the Africans and their descendents in the American continent, particularly in Brazil. This way, it presents an ethnographic report of the saga of Goddess Aranã’s heirs in their fight against racism. The structure of that narrative is alike to a Theater Auto in which the antagonist character is the Racism, and the protagonist is Ananse’s heirs. The composition of that narrative starts with the assumption that the several cultures brought by the protagonist had a crucial importance in encouraging the African and their heirs’ fight, face to the wit of an antagonist capable of wearing, in time and space, many persons (masks) to confuse and weaken the protagonist speeches. However, the protagonist is also very smart in weaving his webs. Upon elaborating that narrative, the webs created by that character are recovered in order to insert, in the official Brazilian agenda the recognition of the existence of racism and racial discrimination in the society, and the state affirmative action policies, mainly, the use of the quota system to Negroes at the University. The fight is a narrative with epic characteristics which favors the role of string/action Negro movement.

    Memória de docentes universitários: resistência e luta no campus universitário de Abaetetuba

    This article is part of a broader research on the teachers of the Abaetetuba University Campus, which aimed to present the results of the research entitled Teaching memory and resistance narratives at the Federal University of Pará, from 2013 to 2017, part of the research financed by PIBIC / UFPA and another carried out without funding. The research was carried out with professors from the Abaetetuba University Campus, with the central objective of interpreting the strategies and devices of teacher resistance to the imposing models of installation of the heteronymous and neo professional University, from the teaching memory focusing on the narratives of the teachers of the Abaetetuba University Campus. Thus, we found that teachers are based on reflection as a way to experience and understand the sphere of the world of life and the system, using intellectual work as an activity of knowledge production and active participation in the University.

    Políticas de avaliação institucional da educação superior: o caso da Universidade Federal do Pará

    This research intitled Institutional Evaluation Policies in Higher Education: the case of the Federal University of Para, has the Brazilian policies for institutional evaluation as its core object, within the context of the capitalist system development; its main objective was to investigate how such policies have been implemented in Brazilian higher education and, in particular, in the Federal University of Para (UFPA). The research hypothesis assumed that the institutional evaluation policies implemented in Brazil, from the 1990s on, are founded upon, and oriented by the neoliberal logic marked by features quantitative, competitive, productivist, fragmented, distanced from reality; that they follow out determinations from multilateral orgnizations, such as the World Bank; that they have been used as mechanisms of States control over education. Case study was chosen as the appropriate methodological approach, on the grounds of quanti-qualitative research procedures. Data and information necessary to the study were collected from a number of documental sources, and were analyzed at the light of theoretical support obtained by means of literature review mainly that regarding the concept of emancipatory evaluation from the standpoint of authors such as Dias Sobrinho, Vasconcelos, Maués, Chaves, among others. Three models of evaluation policies were analyzed which have been implemented in Brazil, namely the Program of Institutional Evaluation of Brazilian Universities (PAIUB), the National Exam of Undergraduate Courses, and the National System of Higher Education Evaluation (SINAES). As for preliminary conclusions, evidence was found that evalution policies implemented nation-wide in Brazil are based upon neoliberal concepts of evaluation, as they serve the process of economization of higher education, the latter having its principles, quality requirements, and autonomy modified. Such a process, among other values and purposes, contributes to the control of educational institutions by the State; its results influence relationships among institutions, and they assign new meanings to the concept of higher education. As for the case study regarding the Federal University of Para, research findings indicate that the three evaluation models adopted by UFPA at different points in time followed the same neoliberal conceptions; that they function as instruments of regulation and control; they did not allow for the participation of the academic community in the processes of evaluation discussion and development, and therefore they have distanced from the academic reality; last but not least, that such models did not evaluate the entirety of the institution as they proceeded in fragmented, stagnant features which hampers the autonomous development of the University.

    Reflexões sobre pessoas surdas: problematizando a diferença

    Faced with the context of inclusion in universities, deaf people bring with them a different language from which it is widely shared in the academy by a group that is mainly listening. Thinking about this linguistic issue also implies ways of looking at the other. Thus, this work has as main objective to reflect on the sign language as a cultural artifact that marks the difference of deaf people as socioanthropological subjects. For this work, the methodological basis is anchored in an exploratory research, based on the literature review. The main theoretical subsidies are Silva (2000), Bhabha (1991), Woodward (2000), Skliar (2003; 2013), Lacerda (2000; 2014), among others. The results show that it is essential to conceive the deaf from their linguistic difference, their identities are constructed and marked through difference. Libras, the deaf and their visual experiences, determine the set of differences in relation to any other group of subjects.

    Universidade e educação de jovens e adultos: territorios de vidas e culturas

    In this article, we analyze the actions developed between the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Youth Council and two schools that offer EJA in the public school system of Bragança-Pa. In the production of the data, we consider the formulated steps of the EJA Project: Territory of Life and Culture which comprises: a) diagnosis of the reality of the EJA; b) Conducting workshops: theater, painting on shirts and teacher training; c) the students 'and teachers' view of the project. The results pointed to a propositive experience of reconfiguration of the modality itself, bringing to EJA a curriculum that involved culture, youth organization and the continued formation of teachers in a collective movement reignifying the EJA in living territories and cultures.

    Universidade e trabalho: a função social da educação frente ao mundo do trabalho

    We recoup the work concept as vital activity by means of which the man satisfies its necessities, produces the culture and institutions as the State, we rescue some theses on the relation between the work sphere and education sphere and, from the understanding that the function of the work and the education is to produce the humanizing, we problematized the manners as the work is being done at Brazilian Amazônia, marked for a predatory use of the work force and of the environment. Finally we raised some considerations about the necessity of the education in general and of the university, particularly, articulated with a social project of valuation of the work and preservation of the material and incorporeal wealth of Amazônia.

    Universidades públicas: das contribuições do conhecimento na Pós-Graduação ao desenvolvimento regional

    This study presents an analysis on the contribution of the knowledge acquired in graduate school for Regional Development, grounding into two streams: one that defends the traditional idea of investment in basic science as an essential element for economic development of any region and one that supports the interdisciplinary response to the fragmentation caused by a positivist epistemology of nature that has been occupying more space in Brazilian universities with the increasing expansion of post-graduate studies before the need for the knowledge society, informational and globalized, modern science will impose as a solution to this new organizational form. The research was based on secondary data collection and these were analyzed using correlation coefficients, specialization and restructuring. The results of these regions showed that despite being in development, regional inequality still limits the innovation process in the country, this being one of the factors that prevent equitable economic growth of regions.
