Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Ab Initio correlated all electron Dirac-Fock calculations for eka-francium fluoride (E119F)(2012-06) MIRANDA, Patrícia S.; MENDES, Anna Paula S.; GOMES, José da Silva; ALVES, Claudio Nahum; SOUZA, Aguinaldo R. de; SAMBRANO, Julio Ricardo; GARGANO, Ricardo; MACEDO, Luiz Guilherme Machado deResults obtained with correlated 4-component Dirac-Fock calculations for element E119 (eka-francium) fluoride with stable and accurate basis set (prolapse-free) are reported in this work. At CCSD(T) level, the equilibrium distance Re, harmonic frequency ωe and dissociation energy De are 2.432 Å, 354.97 cm-1 and 116.92 kcal mol-1, respectively. A 4-component prolapse free basis set for E119, an accurate analytical potential energy curve and vibrational spectra from CCSD(T) data are also reported. Our results suggest that E119F should be less ionic than lighter alkaline fluoride homologues, in contrast to the common chemical belief based on periodic trends - it would be expected in this molecule the most ionic bond possible. We also found that the charge model correction to neglect SS integrals leads to negligible errors and speed up calculations close to three times at CCSD(T) level and close to 4 times at DFT/B3LYP level.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Ácidos fenólicos, flavonoides e atividade antioxidante em méis de Melipona fasciculata, M. flavolineata (Apidae, Meliponini) e Apis mellifera (Apidae, Apini) da Amazônia(2012) OLIVEIRA, Patricia Sertão; MÜLLER, Regina Celi Sarkis; DANTAS, Kelly das Graças Fernandes; ALVES, Claudio Nahum; VASCONCELOS, Marcus Arthur Marçal de; VENTURIERI, Giorgio CristinoHoney produced by three stingless bee species (Melipona flavolineata, M. fasciculata and Apis mellifera) from different regions of the Amazon was analyzed by separating phenolic acids and flavonoids using the HPLC technique. Data were subjected to multivariate statistical analysis (PCA, HCA and DA). Results showed the three species of honey samples could be distinguished by phenolic composition. Antioxidant activity of the honeys was determined by studying the capacity of inhibiting radicals using DPPH assay. Honeys with higher phenolic compound contents had greater antioxidant capacity and darker color.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Active polyketides isolated from Penicillium herquei(2013-09) MARINHO, Andrey Moacir do Rosário; MARINHO, Patrícia Santana Barbosa; SANTOS, Lourivaldo da Silva; RODRIGUES FILHO, Edson; FERREIRA, Izabel Cristina PilotoIn this work we are reporting the isolation by classical methods of chromatography of six polyketides from Penicillium herquei. The compounds citreorosein ( 1) , emodin ( 2) , janthinone ( 3) , citrinin ( 4) , citrinin H1 ( 5) and dicitrinol ( 6) were identified by spectral methods of 1D and 2D NMR and MS. Compounds 1, 2 and 3 were tested against promastigotes forms of Leishmania brasiliensis and 1 and 2 were also assayed against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis and showed good activity.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Adsorção de nitrato em caulinita a partir de rejeito de caulim modificado com uréia(2013-12) TAVARES, Laís Conceição; LEMOS, Vanda Porpino; PINHEIRO, Marta Helena Tavares; DANTAS FILHO, Heronides Adonias; DANTAS, Kelly das Graças FernandesThis study evaluates the the efficiency, feasibility and spontaneity of the adsorption of nitrate ion in natural and modified kaolinite with urea, using as starting material kaolin waste processing from Jari River. The materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, Fourier transform IR spectroscopy (XRD, XRF and FTIR, respectively). The equilibrium pH measurements were performed by potentiometry and the equilibrium concentrations (Ce) nitrate was measured by ion chromatography. Amounts adsorbed at equilibrium (qe), distribution constant (Kd = qe / Ce), separation factor (RL) and variation of Gibbs free energy (ΔG °) were calculated based on experimental data adsorption. The results of XRD and FTIR confirmed the formation of the kaolinite-urea from treatment carried out on kaolin waste. The following data were obtained from the adsorption of nitrate on natural kaolin waste and treated with urea: qmax = 18.17 and 14.1 mmol kg-1 Kd = 0.7 to 2.2 and 0.45 - 1.5 L kg-1; RL = 0.35 to 0.85 and 0.25 to 0.80; ΔG ° = -9.3 to -5.8 and -9.1 to -5.4 kJ mol-1, respectively. The values of Kd , ΔGº and RL are typical of physisorption processes, feasible and spontaneous and those qmax indicate that the retention of nitrate on natural kaolin waste is more efficient than on kaolin waste modified with urea.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aleloquímico produzido pela gramínea forrageira Brachiaria humidicola(2005-03) SOUZA FILHO, Antonio Pedro da Silva; PEREIRA, Angela Albertina Gaspar; BAYMA, Joaquim de CarvalhoThe traditional methods of weed control in cultivated pasture do not meet society's present and future needs of protecting natural resources and life quality. An alternative to this problem could be the use of secondary metabolites produced by plants. These products present few risks to the environment and meet society interests. Therefore, this research was carried out to isolate, identify and characterize the allelopathic activity of chemical compounds produced by the forage grass Brachiaria humidicola. The allelopathic effects of the extracts, fractions and compound were tested on seed germination and root elongation of the weeds Mimosa pudica, Senna obtusifolia and Senna occidentalis. Germination bioassays were developed under 25 ºC and a photoperiod of 12 hours. For root elongation, the bioassay conditions were 25 ºC and photoperiod of 24 hours. Hydromethanolic extract was used as a source for isolating and identifying p-coumaric acid. The allelopathic effects were positively related to p-coumaric acid concentration, weed species and the evaluated parameter. Comparatively, S. occidentalis and M. pudica showed the greatest sensitivity to the allelopathic effects. For S. obtusifolia no allelopathic effects promoted by p-coumaric acid on seed germination or on root elongation could be detected under the concentration of 1.0 and 8.0 mg L-1. Root elongation was more sensitive to p-coumaric acid allelophatic effects than seed germination.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise comparativa do potencial alelopático do extrato hidroalcoólico e do óleo essencial de folhas de cipó-d'alho (Bignoniaceae)(2009) SOUZA FILHO, Antonio Pedro da Silva; GUILHON, Giselle Maria Skelding Pinheiro; ZOGHBI, Maria das Graças Bichara; CUNHA, Roberto LisboaAllelopathy is an important mechanism that affects the stability of agro-eco systems. The identification of this character, in several cases, is accomplished via analysis of the effects of polar crude extracts. The allelopathic activity of the species "cipó-de-alho"(Mansoa standleyi - Bignoniaceae) is characterized in the present work, by comparing the effects of the hydroalcoholic extract and essential oil of the leaves, attempting to establish the need to consider in research of this nature the approach involving non polar extracts. Bioassays of the weed plant 'malicia'' (Mimosa pudica) radicle and hypocotyl germination and growth were carried out in periods of 10 days, using concentrations of 0.5%; 1.0% and 2.0%. The chemical constituents of the essential oil were also identified. The results showed that both the hydroalcoholic extract and the essential oil have the potential to inhibit radicle and hypocotyl germination and growth. The hydroalcoholic extract showed higher potential to inhibit germination, while the essential oil promoted more intense inhibitions on radicle and hypocotyl growth. The effects were positively related with concentration, with maximum and minimum effects being obtained at concentrations of 2.0% and 0.5%, respectively. The sulfur compounds diallyl disulfide (42.15) and diallyl trisulfide (11.25%), alone or in association, are involved with the allelophatic effects caused by the essential oil. In addition, the results point to the need to consider using non polar extracts when evaluating the allelopathic activity of a given plant, especially when there is no information about the production of essential oil by the prospected plant.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise comparativa dos efeitos alelopáticos das substâncias químicas titonina e titonina acetilada(2006-06) SOUZA FILHO, Antonio Pedro da Silva; BORGES, Fábio Cardoso; SANTOS, Lourivaldo da SilvaThe objective of this paper was to establish the variations in the allelopathic activity of the chemical substance tithonine, in function of the acetylation of its molecule. Germination bioassays, under 25 ºC of constant temperature and 12-hour photoperiod, and radicle and hypocotyl development bioassays under 25 °C of constant temperature and 24-hour photoperiod were developed. The receiving plant used was the weed Mimosa pudica. Spectral analysis RMN 1H and 13C and bidimensional RMN techniques were carried out on the acetylated molecule. The acetylation process produced the molecule 7,4'- dimethoxy-3'-acetylflavone, which differed from the original molecule, identified as 7,4'-dimethoxy-3'-hydroxyflavone. The structure of the acetylated tithonine was confirmed by the specters of RMN 1H, 13C, DEPT, COSY and HETCOR. Tithonine was acetylated with acetic anhydride in pyridine. The comparative analysis of the allelopathic activity of the two substances showed that acetylated tithonine presented a greater potential to inhibit seed germination, as well as root and hypocotyl development of M. pudica. Both tithonine and acetylated tithonine showed the same behavior pattern in relation to substance concentration. The data obtained allow suggesting the possibility of increasing the biological activity of a chemical substance with allelopathic activity without compromising its biological peculiarities, desirable to nature and to the interests of society.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Annularins I and J: New Metabolites Isolated from Endophytic Fungus Exserohilum rostratum(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-08) PINHEIRO, Eduardo Antonio Abreu; BORGES, Fábio Cardoso; PINA, Jeferson Rodrigo Souza; FERREIRA, Leila do Remédio Santos; CORDEIRO, Jorgeffson da Silva; CARVALHO, Josiwander Miranda; FEITOSA, André de Oliveira; CAMPOS, Francinete Ramos; BARISON, Andersson; SOUZA, Afonso Duarte Leão de; MARINHO, Patrícia Santana Barbosa; MARINHO, Andrey Moacir do RosárioThe paper describes the isolation of ergosterol peroxide, monocerin, annularin I and annularin J compounds of Exserohilum rostratum biomass extracts. Annularin I and annularin J compounds are new natural products.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Anti-inflammatory and opioid-like activities in methanol extract of Mikania lindleyana, sucuriju(2012-02) VANDERLINDE, Frederico Argollo; ROCHA, Fabio Fagundes da; MALVAR, David do Carmo; FERREIRA, Raquel Teixeira; COSTA, Elson Alves; FLORENTINO, Iziara Ferreira; GUILHON, Giselle Maria Skelding Pinheiro; LIMA, Thereza Christina Monteiro deMikania lindleyana DC., Asteraceae (sucuriju), grows in the Amazon region, where is frequently used to treat pain, inflammatory diseases and scarring. This study was carried out to investigate phytochemical profile accompanied by in vivo antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory screening of n-hexane (HE), dichloromethane (DME) and methanol (ME) extracts obtained from the aerial parts of the plant. The oral administration of ME (0.1, 0.3, 1 g/kg) caused a dose-related reduction (16.2, 42.1 e 70.2%) of acetic acid-induced abdominal writhing while HE and DME (1 g/kg, p.o.) were ineffective. In the hot plate test, ME (300 mg/kg, p.o.) increased the latency of heat stimulus between 30 and 120 min and inhibited the first (45%) and second (60%) phases of nociception in the formalin test. The antinociception induced by ME or positive control fentanyl (150 µg/kg, s.c.) in hot plate and formalin tests was prevented by naloxone (3 mg/kg, s.c.). When submitted to the carrageenan-induced peritonitis test, ME (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 g/kg, p.o.) impaired leukocyte migration into the peritoneal cavity by 46.8, 59.4 and 64.8% respectively, while positive control dexamethasone (2 mg/kg, s.c.), inhibited leukocyte migration by 71.1%. These results indicate that the antinociception obtained after oral administration of methanol extract of M. lindleyana involves anti-inflammatory mechanisms accompanied with opioid-like activity which could explain the use of the specie for pain and inflammatory diseases.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Antioxidant capacity and larvicidal activity of essential oil and extracts from Lippia grandis(2011-02) DAMASCENO, Evelyn Ivana Trindade; SILVA, Joyce Kelly do Rosário da; ANDRADE, Eloisa Helena de Aguiar; SOUSA, Pergentino José da Cunha; MAIA, José Guilherme SoaresThe leaves and thin branches of Lippia grandis Schauer, Verbenaceae, are used for flavoring of food in the Brazilian Amazon, as substitute for oregano. In this study the constituents of the essential oil were identified and the antioxidant capacity and larvicidal activity of the oil and methanol extract and its sub-fractions were evaluated. A sensory evaluation was determined in view of absence of toxicity. The oil showed a yield of 2.1% and its main constituents were thymol (45.8%), p-cymene (14.3%), γ-terpinene (10.5%), carvacrol (9.9%) and thymol methyl ether (4.8%), totalizing 85%. The DPPH radical scavenging activity showed values for the EC50 between 9.0 and 130.5 µg mL-1 and the TEAC/ABTS values varied from 131.1 to 336.0 mg TE/g, indicating significant antioxidant activity for the plant. The total phenolic content ranged from 223.0 to 761.4 mg GAE/g, contributing to the antioxidant activity observed. The crude extracts inhibited the bleaching of β-carotene and the oil showed the greatest inhibition (42.5%). The oil (LgO, 7.6±2.4 µg mL-1) showed strong larvicidal activity against the brine shrimp bioassay. The sensory evaluation was highly satisfactory in comparison to oregano. The results are very promising for the use of L. grandis in seasoning and antioxidant products.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Antraquinonas e naftoquinonas do caule de um espécime de reflorestamento de Tectona grandi (Verbenaceae)(2006-09) MOREIRA, Rafael Yasunori Okada; ARRUDA, Mara Silvia Pinheiro; ARRUDA, Alberto Cardoso; SANTOS, Lourivaldo da Silva; MÜLLER, Adolfo Henrique; GUILHON, Giselle Maria Skelding Pinheiro; SANTOS, Alberdan Silva; TEREZO, EvaristoThe hexane extract of the bark of Tectona grandis (Verbenaceae) afforded two anthraquinones and two naphtoquinones. Their caracterizations were obtained through NMR spectroscopic techniques. This is the first phytochemical study of the bark of Tectona grandis reforestation specimen in Brazil. The main interest in this work is proving the presence of tectoquinone in reforestation specimen.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Application of carbon composite adsorbents prepared from coffee waste and clay for the removal of reactive dyes from aqueous solutions(2015-05) SANTOS, Davis Castro dos; ADEBAYO, Matthew Ayorinde; LIMA, Éder Cláudio; PEREIRA, Simone de Fátima Pinheiro; CATALUÑA VESES, Renato; SAUCIER, Caroline; THUE, Pascal Silas; MACHADO, Fernando MachadoA novel carbon composite was prepared from a mixture of coffee waste and clay with inorganic:organic ratio of 1.3 (CC-1.3). The mixture was pyrolysed at 700 °C. Considering the application of this adsorbent for removal of anionic dyes, the CC-1.3 was treated with a 6 mol L-1 HCl for 24 h to obtain ACC-1.3. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), N2 adsorption/desorption curves, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and powder X-ray diffractometry (XRD) were used for characterisation of CC-1.3 and ACC-1.3 carbon adsorbents. The adsorbents were effectively utilised for removal of reactive blue 19 (RB-19) and reactive violet 5 (RV-5) textile dyes from aqueous solutions. The maximum amounts of RB-19 dye adsorbed at 25 °C are 63.59 (CC-1.3) and 110.6 mg g-1 (ACC-1.3), and 54.34 (CC-1.3) and 94.32 mg g-1 (ACC-1.3) for RV-5 dye. Four simulated dye-house effluents were used to test the application of the adsorbents for treatment of effluents.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Atividade alelopática de chalcona sintética, de seus precursores e de cetonas e aldeídos relacionados(2007-12) BITENCOURT, Heriberto Rodrigues; SANTOS, Lourivaldo da Silva; SOUZA FILHO, Antonio Pedro da SilvaSeveral secondary metabolites produced by plants can be used as herbicides. These products are expected to offer fewer risks to the environment and to meet social demands. However, the availability of compounds is very limited, so synthesis is an alternative. The objective of this work was to evaluate the allelopathic activity of synthetic chalcone, 2,4'-dimethoxychalcone, its precursors, 4-methoxyacetophenone (A) and ortho-anisaldehyde (B), and some of their chemical alterations. The bioassays were developed under 25 ºC and photoperiod of 12 hours. The allelopathic effects of the compounds were tested on seed germination of Mimosa pudica and Senna obtusifolia weeds, under a concentration of 100, 200 and 300 mg L-1 of the compounds. The results indicated that precursor A (4-methoxyacetophenone) plays an important role in allelopathic activity of the chalcones. These results show that synthesis is a possible pathway, helping to overcome problems such as characterization and isolation of natural products with herbicidal activity against weed species.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Atividade alelopática de substâncias químicas isoladas da Acacia mangium e suas variações em função do PH(2010) LUZ, Sylmara de Melo; SOUZA FILHO, Antonio Pedro da Silva; GUILHON, Giselle Maria Skelding Pinheiro; VILHENA, Karyme do Socorro de SouzaThe aim of this study was to isolate, identify and characterize the allelopathic activity of the substances produced by Acacia mangium and to determine the variations of this activity according to the pH variation of the solution. The allelopathic activity was evaluated in germination bioassays (at 25 oC and under 12-12 h light-dark cycle) and radicle and hypocotyl development (at 25 oC and under 24-24 h light-dark cycle) of the weed species malicia (Mimosa pudica) and mata-pasto (Senna obtusifolia). The influence of the pH (3.0 and 9.0) of the solution in the allelopathic activity of the substances on seed germination of the same species was evaluated. The triterpenoids Lupenone (3 oxolup-20(29)-ene) and Lupeol (3β-hydroxylup-20(29)-ene), obtained from fallen leaves of the donor plant, separately and in pair, showed low allelopathic effects on seed germination and hypocotyl growth, especially on the former, with effects showing values lower than 2%. The effects on radicle growth were higher than the other two, reaching values above 40%, especially inhibition promoted by the substance Lupenone. Separately, each substance showed higher effects than those observed when tested in pair, indicating the existence of antagonism. The pH of the solution influenced the allelopathic activity of the substances; for Lupenone, the effects were more intense at acidic pH, while for Lupeol, best results were observed under alkaline conditions, showing that this is an important factor to be considered in field works.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Atividade alelopática de substâncias químicas isoladas do Capim-Marandu e suas variações em função do pH(2008) SANTOS, Lourivaldo da Silva; SANTOS, Josiane Cristina Lucas dos; SOUZA FILHO, Antonio Pedro da Silva; CORRÊA, Marivaldo José Costa; VEIGA, Thiago Andre Moura; FERREIRA, Vivianne Cristinne Marinho Freitas; FERREIRA, Isabel Cristina Serrão; GONÇALVES, Nelson Santos; SILVA, Carlos E. da; GUILHON, Giselle Maria Skelding PinheiroThis work aimed to isolate, identify and determine the allelopathic activity of the chemical substances produced by Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu and to verify the effects of the pH in the solution on the activity of these compounds. The allelopathic activity was evaluated based on germination bioassays and radicle and hypocotyl growth using the species 'malícia' (Mimosa pudica) and 'mata-pasto' (Senna obtusifolia) as receptors. The effect of pH was analyzed in a range from 3.0 to 9.0. The pentacyclic triterpenes friedelin and epifriefelinol isolated from the shoots of B. brizantha showed a low inhibitory activity against seed germination and radicle and hypocotyl growth of the two receptor plants evaluated. The pentacyclic triterpenes friedelin and epifrifelinol presented differentiated behaviors in relation to the pH variation in the solution, with stronger inhibition activity against the weed 'mata-pasto'.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Atividade alelopática em folhas de Tachigali myrmecophyla (Leg. - Pap.)(2005-12) SOUZA FILHO, Antonio Pedro da Silva; LÔBO, Lívia Trindade; ARRUDA, Mara Silvia PinheiroThe use of forest species with allelopathic activity can promote a higher stability to agroforestry systems, mainly relative to the reduction of weed species. The objective of this study was to isolate and identify chemical substances produced by Tachigali myrmecophyla and characterize its inhibitory allelopathic activity on the germination and seedling development of two weed species. Bioassays were carried out under controlled conditions of 25 ºC and 12-hour photoperiod for germination and 24-hour photoperiod for radicle and hypocotyl development. The extracts and fractions were analyzed under concentrations of 1.0% and 0.5%, and the substance under concentrations of 5, 10, 15 and 20 ppm. The isolation process allowed the identification of the chemical substance 4,5-dihydroblumenol A. This substance showed allelopathic activity, with the effects varying according to concentration, weed species and the plant parameter analyzed. The intensity of the allelopathic effects was positively associated to the concentration. Mimosa pudica was the most affected weed species. Radicle development was more sensitive plant to the substance effects than hypocotyl development and seedling germination.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Atividade potencialmente alelopática do óleo essencial de Ocimum americanum(2009) SOUZA FILHO, Antonio Pedro da Silva; BAYMA, Joaquim de Carvalho; GUILHON, Giselle Maria Skelding Pinheiro; ZOGHBI, Maria das Graças BicharaEssential oils are known for their several biological activities. The biodiversity of the Amazon region is rich in essential-oil producing plants. The aim of this work was to study the potentially allelopathic activity of the essential oil of Ocimum americanum and to determine its effects on seed germination and growth of two weed species. Solutions of the essential oil were tested at concentrations varying from 100 to 2,000 mg L-1, considering their effects on seed germination (at 25 ºC and a photoperiod of 12 hours) and radicle and hypocotyl growth (at 25 ºC and a photoperiod of 24 hours) of the weeds Mimosa pudica and Senna obtusifolia. Factors related to concentration, specificity of the receiving plants and the parameters analyzed were decisive for the effects obtained. Overall, there was a positive relation between concentration and inhibitory effect. M. pudica tended to be more sensitive to the effects than S. obtusifolia. Seed germination was more affected by the essential oil, followed by radicle elongation and hypocotyl elongation. The observed effects can be attributed to the composition of the essential oil, that includes monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, aliphatic compounds and phenylpropanoids. The compounds limonene, camphor and linalol, found in the essential oil, are known to have allelopathic activity.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação da composição mineral do chá da folha senescente de Montrichardia linifera (arruda) schott (araceae) por espectrometria de absorção atômica com chama (FAAS)(2011) AMARANTE, Cristine Bastos do; SILVA, Jesiel Cardoso Furtado da; MÜLLER, Regina Celi Sarkis; MÜLLER, Adolfo HenriqueLevels of Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, Cu and Mn were determinated by FAAS in the tea and dry matter from senescent leaf from Montrichardia linifera, plant used in folk medicine Amazon. The content of these metals that are transferred of the leaf to the infusions have presented significant reductions, however, the Mn values in the infusion may exceed the tolerable daily intake (11 mg) if consumption of this tea is greater than 1.0 L per day. So the tea of senescent leaves of M. linifera may be considered as a toxic beverage and thus its use is not advised.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação da distribuição de cobre associado a compostos de diferentes massas moleculares na polpa de açaí(Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia, 2012-06) TRINDADE, Samantha Leite da; NUNES, Patrícia de Oliveira; DANTAS, Kelly das Graças FernandesIn this study, size exclusion chromatography (SEC) with ultraviolet (UV) and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF AAS) off-line detection was used to investigate the association of copper to high molecular weight (HMW) and low molecular weight (LMW) species present in Euterpe oleracea Mart. pulp. Total concentration of copper was 10.5 µg g-1. Copper was found to be associated to fractions corresponding to 28.7, 2.6 and 0.43 kDa.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação de minerais em plantas medicinais amazônicas(2009-06) MARTINS, Alexsandro Sozar; ALVES, Claudio Nahum; LAMEIRA, Osmar Alves; SANTOS, Alberdan Silva; MÜLLER, Regina Celi SarkisThe Amazonian Brazilian offers an appreciable potential of plants with therapeutic properties, although most are little known. In this way, with the objective of verifying the potentiality nutritional of medicinal herbs, a work was developed to determine the concentration of Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu and Zn in the leaves and in the teas of these species: Piper callosum Ruiz & Pav., Piperaceae, Mikania lindleyana DC., Asteraceae e Arrabidaea chica (Humb. & Bonpl.) B. Verl., Bignoniaceae. After the plants samples have been processed, they were submitted to digestion and soon afterwards the metals were analyzed in an spectrophotometer of Atomic Absorption. The results showed the follow yields: for the tea of Arrabidaea chica Ca were detected (6955 to 20058 mg/L), Mg (2390 to 3094 mg/L) and Fe (40 to 61 mg/L). For the tea of Mikania lindleyana besides the presence of high values of Ca (17722 to 22336 mg/L), Mg (4531 to 9370 mg/L) and Fe (20 to 87 mg/L) they were found from 7 to 16 mg/L of Cu and 9 to 41 mg/L of Zn. The tea of the Piper callosum presented 2036 to 4344 mg/L of Ca, 618 to 4023 mg/L of Mg and 39 to 60 mg/L of Fe. Being compared the results of the minerals with the values recommended by the Health World Organization, is possible that the present metals in the teas of the plants could contribute in the complementation of the people's alimentary diets that use these medicinal plants.
