Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Açaí pulp demand in the retail market of Belém, state of Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-03) SANTANA, Antônio Cordeiro de; SANTANA, Ádina Lima de; SANTANA, Ádamo Lima deThe aim of this work was to estimate the parameters associated to the demand for açaí pulp in the retail market of Belém. Multiple regression analysis was applied to identify the key variables that impact on product consumption and to estimate the price and income elasticities and cross demand. The econometric estimation method applied was the least squares to correct heteroscedastic variance problems. Results have shown that the demand for açaí pulp is price and income inelastic. Fish and cassava flour were confirmed as complementary products of strong influence on the decisions of consumers. Product quality, with regard to its association to Chagas disease, also revealed a strong influence on product choice for household consumption. Finally, the socio-economic benefit of açaí pulp was R$ 762.78 million per year.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Ações de regularização fundiária e de mensuração das desconformidades urbanas: o caso das terras da União sob a tutela da Universidade Federal do Pará na cidade de Belém (PA)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-12) CARDOSO, Myrian Silvana da Silva; MÜLLER, Shirley Coelho; DUARTE, André Augusto Azevedo Montenegro; LIMA, José Júlio FerreiraIt is discussed here the meaning of urban disagreement as the denial of the right to the city in opposition to what has been stated in the recent Brazilian urban legislation (Cities Statute Law 10.257 from 2001), in order to contribute to the assessment of public policies on land regularization actions, considering the multifaceted nature of this right. With this objective, it is briefly described the process of occupation started in the 1970s, on public Union land Union, defined for the implementation of the Pará Federal University (UFPA) first with the Guamá Campus (Belém, Pará, Brazil) and then occupied by low income population on areas not object of academic purposes. It is highlighted survey and registration methods, social practices and land tenure documentation developed by UFPA from 1991. The results of this experiment permitted evaluating its impacts in the context of urban disagreements suffered by the occupants, stressing the challenges that seek to ensure the right to the city, as a gradually, integrated and above all inclusive objective of public policies.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Adição de óleo de palma na dieta sobre a lipidemia e a qualidade do sêmen de bubalinos (Bubalus bubalis)(2014-02) SILVA, Geanne Rocha da; GARCIA, Alexandre Rossetto; FATURI, Cristian; LOURENÇO JÚNIOR, José de Brito; NAHÚM, Benjamim de Souza; GONÇALVES, Arnaldo Algaranhar; KAWHAGE, Priscila Reis; SILVA, Luiza Helena Meller da; MENESES, Andre Marcelo ConceiçãoThe study aimed to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation with palm oil on serum lipid profile, the seminal characteristics of buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) and the correlations between them. Twelve bulls were divided into Group CONT (n = 5) or Group OIL (n = 7). Animals in both groups were fed with isoproteic diets composed of corn silage and concentrated (ground corn, wheat bran and urea), with 50% forage/concentrate ratio, during 130 days (Periods 1 and 2). Palm oil (2%DM) was added to diet offered to Group OIL. Semen and blood samples were collected every two weeks. Increased serum levels of cholesterol, HDL and total lipids were observed for Group OIL, while the period influenced on cholesterol, LDL, total lipids and VLDL (P<0,05). Treatment decreased gross motility (P<0.05) and slightly reduced sperm membrane integrity (P<0.05) in animals of Group OIL. There were significant correlations between triglycerides and minor defects (r=-0.412, P=0.006), LDL and total defects (r=-0.333, P=0.030), total lipids and minor defects (r=-0.366, P=0.017), VLDL and spermatic viability (r=0.381, P=0.012), and total lipids and totals defects (r=-0.309, P=0.046), highlighting positive effects of higher lipid serum levels on sperm morphology and viability. The incorporation of palm oil in the diet altered the serum lipid profile, but it showed no positive effect on seminal parameters related to the potential of bull fertility.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Adsorção de cromo (VI) por carvão ativado granular de soluções diluídas utilizando um sistema batelada sob pH controlado(Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia, 2009-09) SOUZA, Renata dos Santos; CARVALHO, Samira Maria Leão de; GARCIA JÚNIOR, Márcio Ronald de Lima; SENA, Rafael dos Santos FernandesIn Amazonia, chromium is mainly used in the leather and wood industries. It is responsible for many health problems, because of its toxicity. These industries remove chromium waste by various processes, such as adsorption. This work shows the results of Cr(VI) adsorption by commercial granular activated carbon (GAC) as adsorbent from diluted solutions, and batch systems with controlled pH. The functional groups on the CAG surface was carried out by the Boehm method. In addition, effect of pH on the Cr(VI) adsorption, adsorption equilibrium, and kinetic were studied under experimental conditions (pH = 6, MA = 6g, for 90min.). On the GAC surface, carboxylic groups were found to be in higher concentrations (MAS=0,43 mmol/gCAG), which increase the Cr(VI) adsorption, principally in acidic pH values. The adsorption capacity is dependent on the pH of the solution, due to its influence on the surface properties of the CAG and different ionic forms of the Cr(VI) solutions. The adsorption equilibrium data was adjusted satisfactorily by the Langmuir isotherm (R2=0,988), favorable type. From kinetics adsorption of 20 mg/L and 5 mg/L, the results were compatible with the national legislation (Res. nº 357/05). Therefore, the experimental system using (CAG) was efficient in removing the Cr(VI) from liquid streams containing low concentrations of the metal.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Adsorption capacity of phenolic compounds onto cellulose and xylan(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-06) COSTA, Telma dos Santos; ROGEZ, Hervé Louis Ghislain; PENA, Rosinelson da SilvaThe interaction between three phenolic compounds (catechin, caffeic acid and ferulic acid) onto two dietary fibres (cellulose and xylan) has been evaluated to inquire possible interferences on the biodisponibility of phenolic compounds. The adsorption kinetics were performed using solutions containing 100 mg/L of phenolic compounds during a contact time ranging between 10 and 120 minutes at pH 2.0, 4.5, and 7.0. After the kinetics, isotherms were obtained using phenolic compounds concentration ranging between 10 and 80 mg/L during 60 minutes, at pH 2.0 and 7.0 and temperature of 36 °C. Results indicate that adsorbed quantities mainly changed in function of pH, however the maximum adsorption was only of 0.978 mg of caffeic acid/g of xylan at pH 2 and after 60 min. Redlich-Peterson model were able to predict the adsorption isotherms of all phenolic compounds onto cellulose, except for caffeic acid at pH 7.0. The low adsorption capacities observed suggest that both dietary fibres are unable to compromise the biodisponibility of phenolic compounds, especially in the small intestine, where they are partially absorbed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aforar, arrumar e alinhar: a atuação da Câmara Municipal de Belém na configuração urbano-fundiária da cidade durante o século XIX(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-12-03) LIMA, José Júlio Ferreira; FISCHER, Luly Rodrigues da Cunha; ABREU, Paula Vanessa Luz deThe paper examines the morphological transformation of the city of Belém, influenced by the new land regime inaugurated by the Land Law of 1850 and by the growth of state urban planning. We investigate the actions of the City Council in the urban land tenure and the implementation of an Expansion Plan for Belém in the 19th century. In order to understand the spatial actions undertaken by the City Council, we started from the study of three instruments: emphyteusis, the main form of land transfer used by the City Council; alignment, related to the public-private boundaries and streets definitions; and land demarcation. We investigated the original land documents that record the emphyteusis, alignment and land demarcation carried out by the City Council along the Bragança Road, the main axis of city expansion in the 19th century. From the graphic spatialization of the information contained in these documents and the research in local newspapers, it was possible to verify that the City Council acted as a pioneer state agent, through a systematized land subdivision project. The discussion contributes to the comprehension of the structuring role of the local power in the definition and change of urban morphology and to a new understanding of the Belém Expansion Plan, classifying it as not only a urban beautification project, but as a product of the political-land tenure transition that marks the nineteenth century.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Alkaloids and volatile constituents from the stem of Fusaea longifolia (Aubl.) Saff. (Annonaceae)(2005-06) TAVARES, Josean Fechine; BARBOSA FILHO, José Maria; SILVA, Marcelo Sobral da; MAIA, José Guilherme Soares; CUNHA, Emidio Vasconcelos Leitão daA phytochemical study of the ethanol extract and an extraction of the volatile compounds, performed by means of Clevenger apparatus were carried out with the stem of Fusaea longifolia (Aubl.) Saff. (Annonaceae). The ethanol extract yielded O-methylmoschatoline, isolated for the first time in this species, and stepholidine, reported for the first time in genus Fusaea. The structural identification of the alkaloids was made based on the analysis of their NMR spectra. Through the use of GC and GC-MS, two sesquiterpenoids, a-cadinol (12.5%) and spatulenol (12.0%) were identified as the major constituents of the essential oil.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Alumina para utilização cerâmica, obtida a partir do rejeito de beneficiamento de caulim(1997-12) FLORES, Silvia Maria Pereira; NEVES, Roberto de FreitasThe kaolin processing for paper covering produces a great volume of residues formed primarily by kaolinite claymineral, here the starting material for the synthesis of ammonium alumen aiming to obtain free sodium alumina with fine grade for ceramic manufacturing. The synthesis process to obtain ammonium alumen consisted of the following procedures: residues calcination and sulphuric leaching of metakaolinite followed by neutralization/crystallisation of aluminum sulphate solution with ammonium hydroxide concentrated solution. The effect of calcination temperature (650 °C, 700 °C and 750 °C), calcination time of residues (30 min, 60 min and 120 min), sulphuric acid concentration as well as leaching temperature (70 °C, 80 °C and 90 °C) on the kinetics of aluminum leaching were studied. The influence of pH on ammonium alumen crystallization was also studied. Data on chemical analysis, XRD, DTA, TGA and granulometry of the material utilized and synthesized are presented and discussed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) An automatic methodology for obtaining optimum shape factors for the radial point interpolation method(2011-12) MACHADO, Péricles Lopes; OLIVEIRA, Rodrigo Melo e Silva de; SOUZA, Washington César Braga de; ARAÚJO, Ramon Cristian Fernandes; TOSTES, Maria Emília de Lima; GONÇALVES, CláudioIn this letter, a methodology is proposed for automatically (and locally) obtaining the shape factor c for the Gaussian basis functions, for each support domain, in order to increase numerical precision and mainly to avoid matrix inversion impossibilities. The concept of calibration function is introduced, which is used for obtaining c. The methodology developed was applied for a 2-D numerical experiment, which results are compared to analytical solution. This comparison revels that the results associated to the developed methodology are very close to the analytical solution for the entire bandwidth of the excitation pulse. The proposed methodology is called in this work Local Shape Factor Calibration Method (LSFCM).Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) An Investigation of a Mathematical Model for the Internal Velocity Profile of Conical Diffusers Applied to DAWTs(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-06) BARBOSA, Disterfano Lima Martins; VAZ, Jerson Rogério Pinheiro; FIGUEIREDO, Sávio W.O. ; SILVA, Marcelo de Oliveira e; LINS, Erb Ferreira; MESQUITA, André Luiz AmaranteThe Diffuser Augmented Wind Turbines (DAWTs) have been widely studied, since the diffusers improve the power coefficient of the wind turbine, particularly of small systems. The diffuser is a device which has the function of causing an increase on the flow velocity through the wind rotor plane due to pressure drop downstream, therefore resulting in an increase of the rotor power coefficient. This technology aids the turbine to exceed the Betz limit, which states that the maximum kinetic energy extracted from the flow is 59.26%. Thus, the present study proposes a mathematical model describing the behavior of the internal velocity for three conical diffusers, taking into account the characteristics of flow around them. The proposed model is based on the Biot-Savart's Law, in which the vortex filament induces a velocity field at an arbitrary point on the axis of symmetry of the diffusers. The results are compared with experimental data obtained for the three diffusers, and present good agreement.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise computacional do fenômeno de transferência de calor em paredes divisórias do tipo dry wall(2007-06) ALVES, Maurício Coelho; BATISTA, Eduardo de MirandaThe present work aims to give a contribution to the study of cold–formed steel members under fire condition. Specifically, the heat transfer in light steel framed walls with or without thermal insulation was studied. For this, computational models are applied to obtain, with acceptable precision, the values of temperature in any position of the structural system. In this way, it will be possible to describe the temperature distribution (uniform or non–uniform) over the cross–section of the studs that constitute the panel, giving subsidies for stability and pos–buckling analyses of the structural members. The numerical simulations of heat transfer are developed with the aid of computational programs ABAQUS and SAFIR, both based on the finite element method.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise da influência do formato de elemento de concreto e propriedades de fibras de aço na tenacidade à flexão(Rede Latino-Americana de Materiais, 2018-10) OLIVEIRA, Marco Antonio Barbosa de; RAMOS, Edson Marcos Leal Soares; OLIVEIRA, Dênio Ramam Carvalho de; POMPEU NETO, Bernardo BorgesConcrete characterizing studies with steel fibers starting from the assay of the traction on flexural of prisms to obtain the toughness flexural have being done to the parameterization of the mechanic behavior of concrete pipes with steel fibers. The study aim is to adjust curves modeling the toughness estimates to the flex on concrete pipes in function to the toughness flexural on prims, both with steel fibers randomly oriented and moreover verify if there is or there is not significant statistic difference among toughness average to flexural when compared to the concrete element form (pipe or prism), and the priorities of steel fibers: Form Factor (65 or 80), State (free or joined to the basis comb) and theoretical fiber consumptions (0,25% or 0,38% or 0,50%). Curves were adjusted modeling the concrete pipe toughness with steel fibers in function of prism flexural toughness, being possible to observe that larger is the prism flexural toughness the larger will be the pipe flexural toughness. The analysis of variance was used to evaluate the existence or not of significant statistic difference among double or triple or quadruples associations. It was individually found that there is not significant statistic difference among the average values of toughness flexural, when compared concrete elements forms, however, there is significant statistic average values of toughness flexural when compared: (i) Form Factor; (ii) State and (iii) Theoretical Fiber Consumption. There was influence on the average values of flexural toughness when we make associations among the different levels of form factors, state and theoretical consumptions on fibers.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise discriminante múltipla do mercado varejista de açaí em Belém do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-09) SANTANA, Antônio Cordeiro de; SANTANA, Ádamo Lima de; SANTANA, Ádina Lima de; SANTOS, Marcos Antônio Souza dos; MARTINS, Cyntia MeirelesAçaí pulp is one of the main foods in the State of Pará and of higher per capita consumption in 2010. The sale of açaí in Belém is carried out by several units that operate in the retail market. The objective of this study was to identify market segments: greengrocers, micro entrepreneurs and supermarkets, from the analysis of a set of variables that define the decisions of açaí consumers. The stepwise multiple discriminant analysis was used to estimate the discriminant functions. Results show that the segment identified with greater precision was the greengrocery, with 100%, followed by supermarkets, with 96.5% of the cases accurately classified, and the segment of micro entrepreneurs, with 90.9%, had the lowest accuracy in the consumer classification. The estimated model showed a high significance in the estimation process, since the functions with the variables amount of açaí, consumer income, price of açaí, quality of açaí, price of fish and price of flour, correctly classified 95.6% of the original elements.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise do desenvolvimento de competências gerenciais na construção civil através do modelo da Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas adaptado ao contexto organizacional(2014-03) MARTINS, Vitor William Batista; NEVES, Renato Martins das; MACÊDO, Alcebíades NegrãoContinuous changes in the civil engineering scenario, and consequently in construction production management require engineers with a different profile, resulting in the need of new competences, related to innovation, customer focus, planning and control, quality management systems, sustainability and a humanistic vision. The main goal of this article is to identify the competences developed in a construction company through the implementation of problem-based learning adapted to the organizational context. The strategy applied in this study was action research, in which researchers work with practitioners to improve the way they understand and solve problems. The results obtained involve the development of competences related to the organizational context, individual, collective and organizational learning process, pointing out problems and possible managerial solutions in the company. By developing managerial competences, a sustainable and humanistic vision, with client focus was stimulated, besides improvements in the quality management system. Some problems were identified in the organizational management system, making evident the need to create an environment that facilitates information exchange among the different sectors of the company.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise do potencial pozolânico da cinza de casca de arroz (CCA) através da técnica de refinamento de Rietveld(2014-06) CORDEIRO, Luciana de Nazaré Pinheiro; MASUERO, Ângela Borges; DAL MOLIN, Denise Carpena CoitinhoRice husk ash (RHA) is an agricultural by-product with well-known pozzolanic properties. However, the widespread commercial use of RHA is hindered by the lack of consistency between batches of this material and by the lack of quick and inexpensive quality control parameters. This study presents some basic principles for the quantification of the amorphous phases of RHA with the assumption that mineralogic characterization with X-ray diffraction can be a good quality control method for use residual or controlled ashes. The samples in this study were prepared with a lithium fluoride (LiF) standard and phase quantification was carried out using Rietveld's refinement method. The analysis of the phases was successfully conducted and results were satisfactory, with maximum relative standard deviation of 5%. These results show that quantitative analysis by Rietveld refinement can be used in the characterization of construction waste.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise estática e dinâmica de uma ponte ferroviária em concreto armado localizada na Estrada de Ferro Carajás(Instituto Brasileiro do Concreto, 2010-09) TEIXEIRA, Ritermayer Monteiro; AMADOR, Sandro Diord Rescinho; OLIVEIRA, Dênio Ramam Carvalho deThis work presents results of static and dynamic analysis carried out on 593 m length bridge along Carajás railroad in Maranhão state. The bridge's behavior became important due to some changes over the static and dynamic loads once the future train will be heavier. Thus, a mathematic model was developed using the finite element method basis to evaluate its behavior and "in loco" structural moni- toring to get data as strains and vibrations when the trains go through. Several high precision accelerometers and strains gauges were placed along the slab, beams and columns. Numerical and experimental results are shown and the main conclusions validating the applied methodology are presented as well.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise estatística do comportamento mecânico à compressão do compósito cimento-madeira(2011) MACÊDO, Alcebíades Negrão; LIMA, Alexandre Martins de; FONSECA, Fábio de Oliveira; LAVÔR, Bárbara Valéria de AbreuThe present work has the objective to propose the use of saw dust wood waste from the tropical wood industry mainly located at Belém, Pará State, for the fabrication of wood-cement composites. Due to the natural chemical incompatibility between wood and cement, this procedure results in a set retarding effect, with wood specie depending intensity. This by-effect can be overcome by using procedures such as additives, wood mineralization, accelerated carbonation and others. Analysis were made based on axial compression strength data with samples aged 28 days for mortars made with 2, 3.5 and 5% wood content in mass, using cements type CP I and CP II, with and without Calcium Clorets-based set accelerator additive. The data there from obtained was statistically analyzed to evaluate the influence of the wood content and of additives on the mechanical strength. Most of the research works developed so far make use of reforestation waste, very little being available about tropical wood waste. So, this work represents a pioneer effort in developing a cement-bonded wood composite with regionally available materials and residues from Belém, Pará State.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise sensorial de músculo de mapará com e sem tratamento osmótico(2010-05) RIBEIRO, Suezilde da Conceição Amaral; PARK, Kil Jin; HUBINGER, Miriam Dupas; RIBEIRO, Carmelita de Fátima Amaral; ARAUJO, Eder Augusto Furtado; TOBINAGA, SatoshiThe objective of this work was the sensorial evaluation of mapará meat, in natura and without osmotic pre-treatment before drying. For the acceptability test of the mapará fish muscle bisquit, the in natura fish samples were used and dried under optimum osmotic dehydration conditions, in solutions of NaCl, NaCl + sucrose and in solution of NaCl + corn syrup solution before drying. 25 not trained testers were used, of both sex, ages ranging from 20 to 60 years. The evaluated sensorial attributes of the samples were appearance, aroma, flavor, texture and overall impression. The aroma and texture of the samples with and without osmotic pre-treatment were the ones most widely accepted by the consumers. It is concluded that the samples treated with osmotic solutions, with the exception of those processed with NaCl + corn syrup solution, provided products with better texture, flavor and a more pleasant aroma.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Analysis of electronic structure of boron nitride nanotubes with different positions of intrinsic impurities(2014-12) GOMES, Fernando Antonio Pinheiro; DMITRIEV, Victor Alexandrovich; NASCIMENTO, Clerisson Monte doThe pristine boron nitride nanotubes have a large direct band gap around 5 eV. This band gap can be engineered by doping. We investigate electronic structure of the doped hexagonal boron nitride (5,5) nanotubes using the linearized augmented cylindrical wave method. In particular, this work focuses on systematical study of the band gap and the density of states around the Fermi-level when the nanotubes are doped by intrinsic impurities of two substitutional boron atoms in a super cell and a comparative analysis of the relative stability of three structures studied here. This corresponds to 3.3% of impurity concentration. We calculate 29 configurations of the nanotubes with different positions of the intrinsic impurities in the nanotube. The band gap and density of states around the Fermi level show strong dependence on the relative positions of the impurity atoms. The two defect sub bands called D∏(B) appear in the band gap of the pristine nanotube. The doped nanotubes possess p-type semiconductor properties with the band gap of 1.3-1.9 eV.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Analysis of modified bowtie nanoantennas in the excitation and emission regimes(2011-06) COSTA, Karlo Queiroz da; DMITRIEV, Victor AlexandrovichIn this work, we analyze modified bowtie nanoantennas with polynomial sides in the excitation and emission regimes. In the excitation regime, the antennas are illuminated by an incident plane wave, and in the emission regime, the excitation is fulfilled by infinitesimal electric dipole positioned in the gap of the nanoantennas. Several antennas with different sizes and polynomial order were numerically analyzed by method of moments. The results show that these novel antennas possess a controllable resonance by the polynomial order and good characteristics of near field enhancement and confinement for applications in enhancement of spontaneous emission of a single molecule.
