Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Alteridade e morte em "Páramo", de Guimarães Rosa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-02-03) PEREIRA JÚNIOR, José Antônio Braga; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278This dissertation aims to investigate the relation between the themes of otherness and death in “Páramo”, by João Guimarães Rosa, based on Hall (2006), Bhabha (1998), both about the concept of otherness, and Ariès (2012) and Levinas (2000), both about the concept of death. Published in Estas Estórias (1969), “Páramo” is a singular writing among the works of Guimarães Rosa, because it is the most autobiographic text of the author and is set on a urban space of a foreing city. In this tale, a brazilian ambassador is sent to an andean city where he has to execute a diplomatic service, but after to be shoked by extreme otherness of that place he begins feeling a process of decentering of his identity, that culminates with premonition of his death and a need of renovation of Being. The relevance of this research is that it brings new discussions about the inevitable relation between Me, Other and death in the text of “Páramo”, so that we can reflete about the philosofical and cultural outspread of this relation. This research is divide into three parts: the first part of this study will deal with the concepts of otherness and death acordding the authors related above. In the second part of this study we will launch a reflection about the philosofical and cultural problems based on the intertwined relation between otherness and death on the text of “Páramo”, accomplishing a dialogue with the concepts and categories of Being, Other and the Stranger. In the third and last part of this research, we will realize a dialogue between the conceptions presented in this research and the perspectives presented in most relevant works published about “Páramo”, as studies from Hector Olea Galaviz (1987), Maria Thereza Scher Pereira (2007 e 2009), Bairón Escallón (2011, 2012 e 2013), Luciano Antônio (2013), Gisálio Cerqueira Filho (2013), Betina Cunha (2014), Maria Magnabosco (2003), Edson Oliveira (2010) e Paulo Moreira (2013), aiming to contribute to studies dedicated to this narrative of João Guimarães Rosa.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Cidade e antíteses: uma leitura do romance Passagem dos Inocentes de Dalcídio Jurandir(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2005-03-10) ALMEIDA, Marcos Monteiro; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278This text does not aim to discuss about all different readings that have been done on Dalcídio Jurandir books over the years. instead, it intends, at least, to present a proposal of reading the novel Passagem dos Inocentes based on the Dialetical Historical Materialism perspective. This work emphasizes the metaphor which makes the title of the book and the critical emancipation process verified in his main character being semantically closed. The dialectical stages of this work are: anti-thesis and synthesis which are verified in the main character, Alfredo, in his process of self-realization. These stages are processed in a continuous chain: ideological illusion, deception about Urbs and self-realization on his new way opposed to Urbs.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Descobertas do mundo sob o olhar da criança e do louco em Corpo de baile e Primeiras estórias(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-05-17) HENRIQUE, Rosalina Albuquerque; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278This work focuses on the narratives “Campo geral” from Corpo de baile (1956), “The thin edge of happiness”, “Treetops” and “Much ado” from Third bank of the river and other stories (1962), book wrote by the Brazilian João Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967). About the narratives, we will discuss the perspective of the child and of the madman, the way of apprehension of the world and life, through the beauty or the madness, and a comparative reading related to temporality between “The thin edge of happiness” and “Treetops”, whose similarity is present in the theme and in narrative structure. In the study, we will highlight the critic texts from scholars of the criticism reception about Guimarães Rosa as Rónai, Soares, Holanda and Tatit, besides, this paper is based in the Aesthetic of Reception, formulated by the German Hans Robert Jauss under a perspective of a literary hermeneutics that becomes the reader a major collaborator in the building of sense of a given written production, and which the aesthetic experience is taken by an integration between the legacy of the literary-historical tradition and the interpretive horizons of those who read the work, seen mainly in A história da literatura como provocação à teoria literária. Thus, the first chapter will discuss of the study recepcional-aesthetic and literary hermeneutics through of the texts from Jauss, Gadamer, Ricoeur and Palmer, outlining the main theoretical guidelines for the construction of the next chapters. Following, in the second chapter we will make the study of the “The thin edge of happiness”, “Treetops” and “Much ado” (Third bank of the river and other stories) and “Campo geral” (Corpo de baile). Finally, in the third chapter, we will present analyses of criticism reception of the small collection of the referred narratives.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Do periódico ao livro: originalidade da criação literária de Guimarães Rosa em Tutaméia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-09-05) CAMPELO, Wanúbya do Nascimento Moraes; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278This aim‘s work is to analyses the place of Tutaméia: terceiras estórias in the João Guimarães Rosa‘s book. For that it will be done an approaching of Esthetical reception‘s concepts showed for Hans Robert Jauss in his studies of 1967, which will be the theorical base for the presentation about some critical receptions of the book in all its history. The authors used to make this dialogue with the text were: Benedito Nunes, Vera Novis, Paulo Rónay. The study focused in the stories will consider the analysis of the main innovation started by Guimarães Rosa in Tutaméia,to know, the size and origin of the stories, the title and subtitle of the book, the alphabetic order of the index and the reread index, the presence of epigraphs and four prefaces. We will do a inedited hermeneutic and stylistic comparison between the book and the Pulso magazine and the book edition from 1967. Thus, we make a cutting in all the themes presents in the book, then we choose to analyze, the stories that talk about the love, they are: “A vela ao Diabo”; “João Porém, o criador de perus” e “Palhaço da boca verde”.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Do sertão a backlands: tradução e recepção de Guimarães Rosa em 1963(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-02-05) SILVA, Suellen Cordovil da; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278This dissertation aims to study the critical reception of the American translation of Grande sertão: veredas (1956), soon after the publication of this, in 1963, and read the first translational options of Harriet de Onís (1869-1968) and James Taylor (1892-1982), and excerpts from the latest American translation, Grand sertão: veredas (2013), Philip W. Martinez. As a method used to analyze the American critical reception, highlight the studies of literary hermeneutics of Hans Robert Jauss (1921-1997). Thus, priority is given to a discussion with the American translation of Grande sertão: veredas, because the punctuates are some excerpts from the American translation which serve as corpus of translation, with the criteria for the selection of passages relating to the hinterland (Backlands) and to meet of Riobaldo with Diadorim in O-de-janeiro. The parameters will be analyzed in the fisrt translation: the loss of poetic, deletions, switching names and words, and finally, some neologisms. After the comparisons between Grande sertão: veredas and The devil to pay in the backlands, it aims to realize the distancity of projectřs translators with the poetic project of João Guimarães Rosa. Thus, we based on translation studies of Antoine Berman (1942- 1991), Lawrence Venuti (1953) and André Lefevere (1945-1996). Berman believes that translation is a relationship, a dialogue and an openness to the stranger. Besides the parameters to check that stretches from the American translation is ethnocentric, we use some clippings serial ceded by the Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros (IEB), in University of São Paulo, a total of 10 texts about Guimarães Rosa. These texts were written in 1963. Finally, in this dissertation the placements of U.S.A. journalists will treat yourself before the publication of Guimarães Rosařs 1963 translation and the current critical reception of American translation according Perrone (2000), Armstrong (2001) and Krause (2013).Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Estilo e linguagem na recepção crítica de “Grande sertão: veredas”(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-04-27) PEREIRA, Ingred de Lourdes; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278This master's dissertation aims to examine the critic reception which is focused on linguistic-stylistic aspects of João Guimarães Rosa's (1908-1967) works. During its the best moment on 1950', the Stylistic theory, specially the one of Spanish origins, had greater influence on Brazilian literary criticism. This event matched to the excitement caused by the publishing of two important works by Guimarães Rosa in the same year, Grande sertão: veredas and Corpo de baile (both are from 1956), that is consequence of its language, which is a fusion of popular and erudite and which has a suiprising imaginative power. As result of that coincidence appeared the studies which constitute the first reception and part of them intended to analyze different linguistic resources used by Guimarães Rosa in order to create the hinterland-as-language of his works. The stylistic method accomplishes these objectives and is the basis of studies analyzed on this dissertation, such as Cavalcanti Proença's (1905-1966) pioneering critic study, Trilhas no Grande Sertão (1958), and from other essayists as Oswaldino Marques (1916-2003), about Sagarana and others diffuses publications, and the American professor Mary L. Daniel (1936- ). Although these stylistic studies are open to discussion if we consider the methodological point of view, as it will be observed, they turned out to be classics inside the Guimarães Rosa's critic fortune due to their contribution to the enlightenment of the work. Evidence of what was said is the existence of recent studies that still discusses categories thought over by Stylistics like the lexical, examples are the works developed by Nei Leandro de Castro and Nilce Sant'Anna Martins. As method to the current dissertation, it will be adopted the literary hermeneutic formulated by Hans Robert Jauss (1921-1997), with the puipose of analyzing a specific critic reception (stylistic criticism) and understanding its relevance to the comprehension of Guimarães Rosa's work in a period close to the one it was first published, as well as the intent to make a contrast between the former reception and the latest one that still focuses in the language field. Equally, the dissertation aims to verify the reader's importance to the (re)signification of fictional narrative. The reader is represented here by such a singular kind of reader, the literary critic, who is capable of offering interpretative guidelines in order to support the reading performed by a common reader.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Um estudo sobre os ensaios jornalísticos de Franklin de Oliveira: a face das críticas rosianas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-02-28) SILVA, Elizandra Fernandes Reis da; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A face do caos: a crônica de guerra em Guimarães Rosa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-04-27) BARBOSA, Waldete Freitas; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278João Guimarães Rosa’s anthology, Ave, palavra, was posthumously published in 1970. It is a compilation of 54 texts described by the author as a “miscellany”, a collection of travel notes, journals, poems, short stories, chronicles, events, poetic reports and meditations, all of them, associated to the thematic variety of some texts in verse with a philosophical approach. They formed his collaboration during the 20 years he wrote for Brazilian newspapers and magazines. This Master’s dissertation aims to study João Guimarães Rosa’s chronicle based on his 1970 book, focusing on the problem of classification of texts in their testimony nature. For this study the following chronicles were selected: “O mau humor de Wotan” (Wotan’s Bad Humor) (02.29.1948 — Correio da Manhã Newspaper); “A senhora dos segredos” (The Lady of Secrets) (12.06.1952 — Correio da Manhã); “Homem, intentada viagem” (Man, The Intended Trip) (02.18.1961 — O Globo Newspaper); “A velha” (The Old Lady) (06.03.1961 — O Globo). Reading and interpretation of the mentioned chronicles address the historical context of the 20th Century, during World War II. Considering the studies done by Massaud Moisés (1978) ,Afrânio Coutinho (1997), Antonio Candido (1997) and Jorge de Sá (2005), it was understood that this textual genre teaches us to live intimately with the word, considering that everything is life and a reason for reflection, which is perceived throughout the reading of the Ave, palavra author’s chronicles, for the writer, who was born in the State of Minas Gerais, does not lose sight of the fact that reality is not merely duplicated, but recreated. The paper is based on studies formulated by Hans Robert Jauss (1979), which focus the primacy of hermeneutic centered on the reader, clarifying, on one side, the current process that concretizes the effect and meaning of the text for the contemporary reader and, on the other side, reconstructs the historical process by which the text is received and interpreted by readers of different eras.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Ficção e sociedade em Guimarães Rosa: interpretação dos contos “A volta do marido pródigo” e “Minha gente”(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-05-11) MAUÉS, Brenda de Sena; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278This work has as theoretical and methodological basis the Aesthetic of Reception, the school of literary theory that emerged in the late sixties in opossition to the dogmas Marxist and formalist, to the extent that they ignore the role of the reader as the main recipient of the literary work. The research is focused on a hermeneutic approach and grounded in an analisis that relates literature and society, considering that is possible to find echoes of humanist ideals in this book, mainly within the tales that form the corpus for our analysis. Thus, following the methodological bias postulated by Jauss (1921-1997), in which the sense of a literary work should be sought into a dialetic constitution between the text and the reader, this paper outlines a survey of short stories “A volta do marido pródigo” and “Minha gente” of Sagarana, especially when it cames to the tematic and formal ties and to the analysis of the characters. In these narratives, it is possible to identify political and amorous disputes wich are developed at the same time along the plot, in general, is depicted the form of the assignment partisan politics and the family relationships in Brazil at the beginning of last century, each tale casts these thematics in their own way, one more comic, focusing on political and social issues and the other emphasizing family relations. In “A volta do marido pródigo” we found a hero with a obvious folk origination within a narrative that dialogues with the parable of the prodigal son and the Aesopian fable of turtle and toad. “Minha gente” tells a story of a relation between the characters lives and the game of chess. Although they retain significant differences between them, those stories have much in common. We took into acount studies already stablished about Sagarana as it is the Mortos de sobrecasaca of Álvaro Lins, as well as others, more recent, of researchers such as Luiz Roncari (O Brasil de Rosa: o amor e o poder), Gilca Seidinger (Guimarães Rosa ou a paixão de contar: narrativas de Sagarana), Nildo Benedetti (Sagarana: o Brasil de Guimarães Rosa) and Sílvio Holanda (Rapsódia Sertaneja: leituras de Sagarana).Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O grande movimento é a volta: viagem e espaço em “O Recado do Morro”(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-02-29) ROCHA, Wellington Diogo Leite; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O Grivo faz obra de atrovo: experiência estética em “Cara-de-Bronze”, de João Guimarães Rosa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-01-29) VIDAL, Eduardo de Figueiredo; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3971-9007“Cara-de-Bronze” is one of the seven narratives of Corpo de baile (1956), by João Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967), it contains elements that make it unique among the others, because it hybridizes the lyrical, epic and drama, presents paratexts and footnotes that enhance its poetic language and its virtual meanings. As a theoretical and methodological alternative, the investigations of Hans Robert Jauss (1921-1997) in the field of Aesthetic Experience (1979; 1986) and Literary Hermeneutics (1983) support us in the interpretive process of the work, because according to the theorist, every experience with art results from aesthetic pleasure, which is manifested through three functions: poiesis, aisthesis and katharsis, that is, the producing, receiving and communicative functions of art. In this way, the present research aims to interpret how the three functions of the aesthetic experience in "Cara-de-Bronze" occur, which are manifested in the relationship of the character Grivo, creator of the work, with the cowboys and with the farmer Cara-de-Bronze, her spectators. The hermeneutic method considers the diachronic aspect of the reception of the work, so the dialogues with critical texts about Rosa’s narrative make up the last moment of the interpretation, they will go through the classical reception — Benedito Nunes ([1967] 2009) and Dirce Riedel (1971) — the contemporary — Sofia Elaine Cerni Baú (1996), Clara Rowland (2003), Parreira Duarte (2006) and Yudith Rosenbaum (2011). With this, we seek to expand the interpretative horizon of the narrative “Cara-de-Bronze”, by João Guimarães Rosa.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Guimarães Rosa e Martin Heidegger: duas visões sobre o Nazismo(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-01-14) SILVA, Leonardo Castro da; SOUZA JÚNIOR, Nelson; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7150345624593204; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278In 1970 occurred the publication of the posthumous book Ave, palavra of Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967) which gathers some texts of the author, from this collection of texts it has chosen the chronicles “O mau humor de Wotan”, “A velha” and “A senhora dos segredos”, which revolve around the context of German Nazism and expose a contrary position to National Socialism. At first moment, this work aims to show how Benedito Nunes (1929-2011) was guided by an interpretive tendency designed by heideggerianos commentators before the complete works [Gesamtausgabe] (2001), such a tendency postulates that there is not, in the philosophy of Martin Heidegger (1889-1976), a link between the political thought and the philosophical. The next step exposes the heideggerian notion in Ser e Verdade (2001) in which the german philosopher proposes an ideological basis for Nazism, being in favor of this with certain restrictions. This way, it shows how the complete works set out arguments that point to a limitation in relation to the commentators who produced before its publication about Politics and Philosophy in Heidegger. In subchapter about O local da diferença (2005), it deals with trauma and testimony as central concepts that the author puts to theorize the Literatures of the 20th century in the contexts of war and authoritarian regimes. After, it makes a critical reading based on the premise of philosophical political thought on Heidegger in the chronicles of Rosa, because they expose images from the period of Nazi Germany when the brazilian writer was working as a diplomat. The second review of the war chronicles will be made based on the concepts of trauma and testimony formulated by Seligmann-Silva (1964), because the works of Rosa treated demonstrate the level of authoritarianism of the Nazi party. Finally, it will be made a definition of the concept of reception of Hans Robert Jauss (1921-1997) to then discuss the authors who made the critical reception of the chronicles of Guimarães Rosa.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O herói na interpretação e na recepção crítica de “Grande sertão: veredas”(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-02-28) ROCHA, Márcia Denise Assunção da; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278The present dissertation consists of a reading based in the aesthetic molds of the novel Grande sertão: veredas, by the writer Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967). After an art-historical study of the types of heroes presented in the course of universal literary history and analyzed by the critics, such as in the epic (epic hero), in the medieval (medieval hero), in the tragedy (tragic hero) and romance (hero romanesco), including the hero category hero formulated by Georg Lukács: the demonic hero, as well as the hero in modernity (modern hero), there is in the present work a differentiated examination of the figure of the persona based on jaussian model, which will be used for consideration of an interpretive and critic reception study of the character in Rosa‘s work, especially since 1956. This way, it will demonstrate that current theme is sustained by the literary works that offer themselves as objects of questioning for critic thought, renewing the theoretical principles of each era. Thus, the analysis turns to a critic study of some major authors of literary criticism in Brazil and abroad, whose selection is according to the hero categorie, like Manuel Cavalcanti Proença (1958), Mario Vargas Llosa (1966), Antonio Candido (1969), Walnice Nogueira Galvão (1972), Benedito Nunes (1982), Davi Arrigucci Jr. (1994), José Antonio Pasta Jr. (1999) e Ettore Finazzi-Agrò (2004) with the aim of understanding and explaining the importance of reconstruction of the horizon of expectation from the hermeneutic triad, that allows the reader to participate in the genesis of the aesthetic object, expanding its context and meaning.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Imagens do patriarcado em "Buriti", de Guimarães Rosa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2008-09-22) MILHOMEM, Nelma Silva; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O indivíduo e as convenções coletivas em As Meninas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2008) SILVA, Deurilene Sousa; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Leitura e recepção de A hora e vez de Augusto Matraga (2005-2017)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-09-29) FÉLIX, Antonio Daniel; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3971-9007This dissertation aims to conduct an analysis of the novella “A hora e vez de Augusto Matraga”, the last narrative in Sagarana (1946), the first work of the writer João Guimarães Rosa, as well as carrying out an analysis of its critical reception among the years 2005 and 2017. Our reading of the novella is based on the proposal of a hermeneutic nature made by the German scholar Hans Robert Jauß (2002), according to whom, in order to have the most complete possible understanding of a given text, many consecutive readings are necessary to be made. Our analysis of the critical reception of the work, in its turn, is mainly based on the concept of aesthetic experience also developed by Jauß (1969), which, concerning it, is divided into two levels, namely: pre-reflective and reflective. The first is the moment in which the reader, in his interaction with the literary text, is involved by it; the second, which may or may not occur after the former, is the occasion in which the reader critically turns his attention to the work, in order to understand, by relating that to his previous knowledge, thereby expanding his understanding of the world and himself . The texts to be analyzed were, initially, chosen through the reading of their abstracts, since we intended to have a general idea of the themes and forms of interpretation applied to the work. Among the texts of reception of our corpus, our analysis is concentrated on 10 of these, namely: Rolim (2005), Leitão (2006), Truzzi (2007), Benedetti (2008), Pereira (2009), Lacerda Neto (2012), Sousa (2014), Oliveira (2015), Ribeiro (2016) and Vital (2017). As a result, we could observe that there are both divergent interpretations, in relation to one or other point, as well as convergent interpretations, which assume the same perspective in relation to another point, with the predominance of an interpretation of a religious and another of philosophical nature. Our conclusion is that any text that aims to offer a definitive interpretation for a work according to one or another thought can be refuted, in view of the multiplicity of contrasts that compose a work.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Literatura e história na recepção crítica do conto de Inglês de Sousa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2005-10-25) ARAÚJO, José Mourão de; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Pluralidade e experiência estética em "O Recado do Morro"(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-02-03) OLIVEIRA, Jean Marcos Torres de; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A Revista de Cultura Brasileña e a recepção de “Grande Sertão Veredas” (1962-2011)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-09-26) BARBOSA, Delmira Rocha dos Santos; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278This master’s dissertation intends to develop a comprehensive examination of the critic reception produced in Spanish language about Grande sertão: veredas (1956), written by Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967). Since its first edition on Spanish language, Grán sertón: veredas caused a certain impact on society because of the themes of the book, such as the supposed ambiguous relationship between Riobaldo and Diadorim, which remains unsolved until the end of the first reading, and the universal hinterland created by poetic language that exceeds geographical boundaries and represents existential conflicts. The critic reception by Spanish-speakers researchers began, ideed, in 1967 after the launching of Grán sertón: veredas, translated into Spanish by Ángel Crespo and published by Seix Barral. Thus, the aim of this work is to undertake a review of some interpretations about Grán sertón: veredas, which caused great repercussion among Spanish-speaking intellectuals that purposed to unveil the implied meanings on the Rosean literary work. In this perspective, there will be analyzed texts from 1960’s of Revista de Cultura Brasileña’s archives and the recent critic reception developed by Soledad Bianchi (2004), Antonio Maura (2007), Maria Rosa Álvarez Sellers (2007), and Pilar Gómez Bedate (2007), besides other Brazilian literary critics. It is a bibliographical research method based on Aesthetics of Reception theory, proposed by Hans Robert Jauss (1921-1997), which considers the reader as an important category in the construction of a new artistic object during the reading act. The master’s dissertation is arranged in three chapters: in the first one, there will be an explanation about the theoretical framework of the Aesthetics of Reception principles and brief comments about aspects involved in the act of translation discussed in Walter Benjamin’s essay The task of the translator and in Antoine Berman’s translation theory. In the next chapters, the literary criticism in Spanish language about Grande sertão: veredas will be analyzed highlighting the divergences between the original text in Portuguese and its translation into Spanish concerning to how the translator dealt with the elements of poetic language in the Spanish version, as well as the insertion of the Rosean fiction on social and historical context of Hispanic countries.
