Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Credit rationing and high interest rates: an application of structural vector autoregression and vector error-correction models(Universidade de São Paulo, 2014) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraThis article analyzes the behavior of monetary policy credit rationing in Brazil, mainly the performance of the supply of private bank loans due to the oscillations in the default rate and borrowing base interest rate.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Crise financeira, recessão e risco de depressão no capitalismo globalizado do século XXI(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-04) CARVALHO, David Ferreira; CARVALHO, André CutrimThe Great Depression of the 1930s is considered until today as the most serious disease of the economic which endangered the existence of modern capitalism. Until now, economists investigate the causes of this terrible pandemic. Hyman Minsky, following the trail of John M. Keynes, developed theories of financial fragility and instability that explain the causes of financial crisis in contemporary capitalism. The large current global recession has its origin in the subprime crisis that occurred in 2008 in the U.S. and spread to the rest of the world. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the causes and effects of the crisis of contemporary capitalism that has as its epicenter in the USA and then spread to the EuroZone and the rest of the world, including Brazil, with the risk of another Great Depression at the beginning of the XXI Century.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) As críticas de Karl Marx e John Maynard Keynes à teoria (neo)clássica(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-12) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraSay's Law is nothing more than a principle or axiom that today serves as a basis to support the theoretical framework of neoclassical economics. The criticism against this principle in Keynes's General Theory was so overwhelming that eventually causing a division in economics: classical economics (sustained by the principle Say) and saving Keynes (underpinned by the principle of effective demand). In this context, this paper discusses the original formulation of Say's Law, as the basic principle of sustaining the economy of the classical and neoclassical, and its connection with the formulation of the Law of Walras, as well as presenting the criticism that John M. Keynes and Karl Marx did to this axiom.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Desenvolvimento regional e a dinâmica das cidades na Amazônia paraense: uma abordagem histórica(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-07) CARVALHO, David Ferreira; CARVALHO, André Cutrim; OLIVEIRA, Cléo Conceição Resque deThe purpose of this paper is to outline a historical analysis of the effects of insertion of the Amazon in Pará recent national and international context, in its general features, through the actions of national integration policies on the socio-spatial formation of Pará – Para Amazon – with emphasis on the process of urbanization.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Desindustrialização e reprimarização da economia brasileira contemporânea num contexto de crise financeira global: conceitos e evidências(Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, 2011-12) CARVALHO, David Ferreira; CARVALHO, André CutrimThe purpose of this article is to discuss the meaning of deindustrialization and assess empirically to what extent are experiencing a process of deindustrialization in the Brazilian manufacturing industry, especially in the context of the current global financial crisis that began with the subprime crisis in the real estate industry 2008 U.S.. Furthermore, the article seeks to address the issue of reprimarization due to so-called "Dutch disease" that, like every country rich in natural resources, could mean the risk of changing the agenda of foreign trade of primary commodities rather than manufactured goods. This research covers the period 2000-2011. The empirical methodology performs the analysis based on tabular data organized in tables and figures. The main conclusion here early, is that there are signs that point to a process of deindustrialization recent manufacturing in Brazil due to the increase of the service sector and the decline in industrial productivity revealed by the decline in exports of manufacturing goods to market exterior. The data presented in this study showed a favorable change in the tariff on exports of commodities that suggest a reprimarization. The reason for this is linked to increased global demand for commodities that has raised the prices of food and raw materials from natural resources. This situation, however, may be reversed when the nominal exchange rate depreciated and return to investments in infrastructure and logistics innovations are resumed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Economia extrativa mineral da Amazônia paraense: indústria-motriz ou economia de enclave (ainda)?(Universidade Salvador, 2017-08) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David Ferreira; FARIAS, André Luís Assunção de; AIRES, Alana Paula de AraújoThis article aims to study the economic dynamics of mineral extraction in the Brazilian Amazon, especially in the Amazon region of state of Pará, as the main driver of regional economic development. In the 1970s, the Federal Government had created a great expectation regarding the formation of industrial mineral complexes that would allow the emergence of primary productive chains with a high degree of importance for the stage of completion of the process of heavy industrialization of the Brazilian economy. However, it can be seen that the effects were not so immediate for the economy of the Amazon, in general. In recent years, however, there is a growing debate about the relationship between mineral activity and regional development. In this context, the mineral extractivism of the state of Pará economy serves as a basis for the formation of the productive chains of the various branches of the manufacturing industry, which transform the raw materials into industrial products, because these are the ones that add more value to the various finished products that use materials -primary minerals. In addition, the processing industries generate more jobs and income for the families that own the factors of production. The main conclusion is that mineral extraction is still heavily dependent on imports of inputs considered strategic, as well as capital goods from other regions. There is indeed great potential for promoting regional economic development through industrial verticalization, but it is clear that its nature as an Enclave Economy and also the intensive use of capital ends up limiting the propagation of synergistic effects For the rest of the economy of the State of Pará. Therefore, in order to break the status quo, a national policy of regional development should be defined that favors the formation of vertically integrated productive chains and a foreign trade policy that stimulates the export of products of greater Of added value so that the resulting benefits can be internalized in the region in the form of income and employment.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A economia monetária da produção capitalista de keynes sob a perspectiva de compreensão da história e da teoria(Associação Brasileira de Pesquisadores em História Econômica, 2018-06) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraThe main objective of the paper is to discuss, from a historical-theoretical point of view, the role of the John Maynard Keynes’ mon etary economy of production. At the time, Keynes’ greatest dissatisfaction was attrib uted to the role that (neo)classic economists attributed to money in a capitalist economy. Indeed, he did not even use the term capital ist economy, but rather the term monetary economy of production to highlight the social importance of money in a mercantile monetary economy. The main conclusion is that Keynes’ monetary economy of produc tion may be a monetary economy of capitalist production, or a monetary-financial economy of capitalist production given the growing importance of cash flows recorded on balance sheets and in the statements of financial position of companies in the contemporary capitalist economyItem Acesso aberto (Open Access) El polo industrial de Barcarena en Pará, Brasil, como principal generador de externalidades económico-ambientales negativas(Servicios Académicos Intercontinentales S.L., 2018-04) ARAÚJO, Ana Cláudia de Sousa; CARVALHO, André CutrimThe municipality of Barcarena, in the State of Pará, located in the northern region of Brazil, promoted large companies in the mineral sector such as Alumina do Norte do Brasil S.A. (ALUNORTE) and Albrás-Alumínio Brasileiro S.A. (ALBRÁS). At the current juncture, however, Barcarena's industrial pole must be seen as a transforming agent in its parsimonious, social, economic, and environmental endeavors, above all with the generation of affecting economic-environmental externalities. The present article, therefore, aims to understand this problem, based on the vision of local leaders and the identification of the existence (or not) of negative environmental externalities arising from the large - scale production of Barcarena industrial pole. From the methodological point of view, the data collection was divided in two stages: in the first moment, through bibliographical research, that is, the present article used qualitative research; already in the second moment, an in loco field research was carried out with the main local leaders of Barcarena, obtaining a response of the vision of the same ones on environmental, social, economic impacts and types of mechanisms of awareness and solution of conflicts in question. The main conclusion is that the industrial pole of Barcarena has a significant share of responsibility for the generation of negative externalities to the environment, and the on-site research can verify that the biggest problem faced by the leaderships analyzed was the lack of compliance on the part of the companies of this industry in the face of environmental accidents. Finally, Environmental Education can act as an important tool to support and solve problems among the agents involved.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Financiamento de investimentos em inovação tecnológica industrial(Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná, 2014) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraIn 1982, Schumpeter is inspired by the idea of Marx to outline his theory of real competition in which technological innovation is not only a competitive weapon to conquer new markets, but also mainly responsible for structural changes through the process of creative destruction. For Schumpeter, the capitalist economy is, above all, an evolutionary economics in which technological innovations are inducers of capitalist economic development, with respect to the employment of productive resources, drawn from conventional uses coming up with one point in new uses heretofore untested in practice able to produce new products and production processes by means of new combinations of materials and productive forces, that is, technological innovations. Only new combinations that are discontinuous and industrial changes that cause the change point of market structures in a capitalist economy, featuring the real economic development. The primary goal of this article is to highlight the specificity of funding investments in technological innovations.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Financing investment in industrial innovation(Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, 2013-12) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraIn 1982, Schumpeter outlines his theory of real competition in which technological innovation is not only a competitive weapon to conquer new markets, but also mainly responsible for structural changes through the process of creative destruction. He has in mind that the capitalist economy is, above all, an evolutionary economics in which technological innovations, such as new forms of combinations of means of production, are inducers of capitalist economic development. In this context, the economic terms of employment of productive resources, drawn from conventional uses coming up with one point in new uses hitherto untested in practice, able to produce new products and production processes through new combinations of material and productive forces, that is, technological innovations, ie economic development in the Schumpeterian sense is a distinct phenomenon and entirely foreign to what can be observed in the circular flow or in the tendency to equilibrium, since starting on producer and not the consumer, despite its importance. In this context, the main objective of this article is to highlight the specificity of funding investments in technological innovations.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Financing of private investment in the view of Keynes-Minsky(Universidade Federal da Bahia, 2017) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraThe primary goal of this paper is to analyze the financing of investment and its effects on the structure of liabilities and the portfolio of a company or family and the pace of financing corporate investment assets, taking as a basis for this understanding of Keynes and Minsky. This will be described a vision of the relations of financial capitalism in terms of cash flow, and analyzed how they are related to the valuation of assets and financing of positions in the portfolio and, finally, the assumptions and elements should be implemented microeconomic analysis to macroe conomic analysis by aggregation method.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Frontiers and economic institutions in Brazil: an approach focused on the new institutional economics(Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Planejamento Urbano e Regional, 2017-04) CARVALHO, André CutrimThe present article seeks to discuss the meaning (s) of frontiers in Brazil and the role of institutions in the process of economic development through the new institutional economics. Any pattern of collective behavior characterizes an institution, and as such determines the “rules of the game”. The frontier represents a socio-economic relationship of production because the structure of society in building a frontier is dominated (in)directly by capital. In Brazil, the movement to occupy land on the frontier does not usually occur through contingent smallholders, but rather through a mixture of different social segments, such as: migrants, “landless” males, farmers and entrepreneurs, all seeking land to occupy, to produce and to speculate. The main conclusion is that a developed institutional system may help to promote economic development by structuring the surrounding environment and stimulating the process of cooperation, innovation and learning in the frontier regions of Brazil.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Fundamentações teóricas sobre o estado capitalista(Universidade Estadual de Maringá, 2014-07) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, Maryan Jansen Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraThe purpose of this article is to discuss the theoretical foundations of the capitalist state perspective through analysis of historical and dialectical materialism. For this, we will resume debate by asserting the legacy of authors such as Karl Heinrich Marx, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, Antonio Gramsci, who contributed to the theoretical discussion on the theory of the capitalist state in its various facets, and which were often misunderstood and exorcised the gym these days. In order to delimit the importance of the state in the contemporary capitalist development, sought to discuss the most recent contributions as the author, Claus Offe, on the theory of the capitalist state.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Fundamentos teóricos para a compreensão do estado capitalista: uma perspectiva marxista(Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná, 2015) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David Ferreira; CARVALHO, Maryan Jansen CutrimThe purpose of this article is to rescue the most important aspects represented in the theoretical foundations of the capitalist state contained within a Marxist perspective and historical and theoretical analysis. The method used in this research work to achieve this goal involves the deductive method because of the general, which includes a discussion of the theoretical foundations of the Theory of Capitalist State and also the inductive method because it considers the particular, ie the theory the capitalist state, bringing up the most relevant contributions on the subject, supported by the intellectual legacy of several authors such as Karl Marx, Hegel, Engels, Lenin, Gramsci, Offe. The justification for the choice and development of this topic stems from the importance and immediate continuation of studies on the Theory of the Capitalist State, especially in a current critical low acceptance in the academy now. The main conclusion of this work is that the state is an instrument of the ruling class aimed at providing solutions to the conflicts arising from the impossibility of all existing classes in society, concomitantly, to appropriate political power. As a result, the state is seen as both a product of relations of domination and shaper.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) The importance of financial institutions for the development of the brazilian Amazon: an application of the social accounting matrix(Universidad Alberto Hurtado, 2015-10) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraThe fundamental purpose of this article is intended to measure the economic impacts that the regional financial institutions are providing along the chain of values of the productive activities located in the Brazilian Amazon and their impacts on economic activities through the Social Accounting Matrix. The main conclusion is that to break the status quo in the region, it is necessary to set a national regional development policy that favors the formation of vertically integrated production chains and a trade policy that encourages the export of most products value-added so that the benefits arising can be internalized in the Brazilian Amazon in the form of income and employment.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) As leis do movimento do capital e a dinâmica dos capitais plurais na concorrência capitalista(Universidade de Passo Fundo, 2014-06) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraThis article aims to discuss, from the perspective of Marxian logic, but not exclusively, the problem of theoretical and methodological mediation of capital in general and his laws of motion that would be subject to the plural forms of the level of capital capitalist competi tion. In this matter, in spite of that contribution to show in the effort of systematizing that theme, the present work has a much more didactic character in the sense of contributing for the popularization of the works that come being developed on the theme of capitalist competition.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O mecanismo de desenvolvimento limpo como mitigador do aquecimento global e a participação do Brasil(2009-06) COTA, Raimundo Garcia; REIS, Maria Aparecida Martins Cardoso; VALE, Lorena Alves doThis study of economic-environmental relevance emerges from the problem of the Global Environment in order to analyze the Mechanism of Clean Development (MCD) as an efficient tool, which can contribute to the mitigation of the Greenhouse Effect Gases (GEG) through the fulfilling of emission reduction goals pre-established by Kyoto Protocol. One examines the participation of Brazil as a hosting country of MCD projects. One concludes that, although the implementation of the MCD reduces the global cost of reduction of greenhouse gases emissions by developed countries and supports initiatives which promote sustainable development, the lacking of major specificity in the rules of the mechanism can open precedents to the right of polluting. One understands that the mechanism cannot be restricted only to the fulfillment of goals, but it is fundamental that it works as discouragement of pollution in its origin, according to the proposal of sustainability, north of the weather environmental policy.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A metamorfose do sistema capitalista e as leis do movimento do capital(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-07) CARVALHO, André CutrimItem Acesso aberto (Open Access) Paridade descoberta da taxa de juros da economia brasileira num ambiente de crise financeira mundial: teoria e evidência empírica(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-05) CARVALHO, David Ferreira; CARVALHO, André CutrimThis article aims to evaluate the effect of the recent policy of lowering the interest rate on the nominal exchange rate floating of the Brazilian economy and based on the theory of uncovered interest parity. The essay discusses the discovery of parity theory interest rate regime of managed floating exchange rate and its empirical validity of the econometric model using cointegration with error correction mechanism.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O processo de expansão do capitalismo na agricultura e a importância da renda fundiária: uma perspectiva marxista(Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso, 2015) CARVALHO, André Cutrim; CARVALHO, David FerreiraThe purpose of this article is to demonstrate the dynamics of capitalist expansion in agriculture and the importance of ground rent (or land rent) as a result of this dynamic expansion. Accordingly, the ground rent is a part of the added value deducted from the capital gain full and the total price obtained by the lessee capitalist, i.e. set in the annual transfer of certain part of the tenant capitalist profit for the landowner . Marx explains that the land revenue comes from the fact that the various agricultural activities can have on the production of pricing basis (cost plus average profit production) different, whether as a result of the conditions of used land (natural fertility or its location geographic relative to the market), either as a result of more productive capital investment in the same field. The main conclusion is that the rent of land is the result of direct application of capital in the particular conditions of agriculture - including mining, for example - and that is with the productive use of a means of special production - the land - which does not have value, it is not the product of human labor, but which has value in use.
